    The new digs.

They had been open only a few days, and this was the first Friday. There was a line. I suspect they didn't quite expect that much pent-up demand for them. The bartender was good but in the weeds. Beer was great. (Try the double bock on tap--rich beers, served from very clean lines, in a half-liter glass. Take that pint ;) This made the wait run smooth. I had a farmer's plate, which was well over a pound of pork in various guises. As the waitress said, "It's good for more meals". Wife's schnitzel under a mildly spicy tomato sauce is good. Glad we didn't get appetizers, as the portions are generous. And very delicious. The bartender worked very hard to keep up. Another bartender to run the service bar and another waitron on the floor, and things would have run more like they used to when they were on Fifth Avenue. Even as they were running around, everyone was friendly. Still, wife and I had a very good time, and do not pass up the smoked beer. (Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen, I'm fairly sure: aka liquid bacon.) Several beers on tap, and the bottled selection can't be beat around here. An impressive comeback that can only get better.

I finally got to visit here, and it only took a trip to a foreign country to do it. Coming off the heels of a trip to Switzerland, I decided to stop here because in case for those that do not know, Switzerland and Germany share important and similar cuisines and cultures. After all, Switzerland and Germany share a border, and a language. Most Swiss speak German, so I figure this would be a great spot to try after spending six days in one of Europe's underrated gems. I am here to break it all down for you to tell you what I got, the rating, and then conclude whether or not you should spend your cash (yes, this is a cash only restaurant) here. For this restaurant to have a create your own Schnitzel option is one that I took seriously, and I am happy that I have the opportunity to do it. I got three cutlets of each variety, pork, chicken, and veal, then smothered it with mushroom gravy (rahmschnitzel style), then topping it with an egg. Since it comes with two sides, I chose the pretzel and the spaetzle, but those will be discussed separately. For dessert, I got their apple strudel because no true German dinner would be complete without be ordering one of them. ---- Schnitzel: The Schnitzel here is as delicious as I had it many times over in Switzerland. Lean cut, lots of flavor, good breading, and a character reminiscent of its European brethren, I was happy to eat it and I told my server that this was delicious. The veal one is probably the best, then the chicken, followed by the pork, but either of the three work well in a pinch. The mushroom gravy is spot on with plenty of mushrooms and the gravy is deep, and rich. Getting the fried egg on top gave it all a nice texture and though it costs extra, definitely get the add on. Eating all three had for a moment wanting me to turn around, and get back on a plane to Geneva or Zurich. Star rating: 4.5/5 Spaetzle: Spaeztle is German pasta, like a soggy noddle, but can be made either with meat, cheese or left on its own. It very much is like its cousin, gnocchi, as it is a potato pasta, with starchy flavor and needs to soak up its contents or the whole thing tastes lousy. Fortunately, the cheese here makes it like a European Mac n cheese. The cheese to the pasta make it quite the salty dish, but I enjoyed this a lot and really felt that this was a surefire side that I must get if I were to return. Star rating: 4/5 Pretzel: A Brezel, as it is called here, works well on its own. The cheeses they provide you give absolutely no character. I would also like it if the pretzel were saltless. The pretzels in Europe contain very little, to any salt, they let the butteriness and the bread do the talking. I had to scrape most of it off to save the taste, but it was still tough. To make this work you need at least to try the mustards once, but it only made it work just slightly. This is where they drop the ball, at least to me, on some authenticity to concede to American tastes. Star rating: 3.5/5 Strudel: The strudel here comes in apple form, which is not a surprise considering that was something I noticed as well while in Switzerland. The cream it comes with is delicious (because why else?), however everything else sends it downhill. It is tough, chewy, and was borderline burnt for about 80% of the pastry. I tried to cut it with a fork and knife but it only made the matter worse. Not the ideal way to end things. It is also quite expensive. Star rating: 2/5 ---- The food on the whole is absolutely delicious, but they also offer entertainment. Because the restaurant is small, it creates an issue hard to hear anything but the instruments and an uncomfortable environment to enjoy a meal. As the band that night was continuing to set up and prepare, the meal became less enjoyable because the acoustics in the restaurant are poor and made it harder to think straight. Once able, I paid my bill as quickly as possible got out of there before the band was able to really start performing. There was ringing in my ears for a time after I left as well. Lousy acoustics and dessert aside, this is a great way to try some authentic Alsace cuisine without having to fly to the region.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. Schnitzel Haus is one of the few places you can get German fare in South Brooklyn and it's a good one. The portions are generous and the food defines comfort. The schnitzels are tender inside and crispy outside, but I highly recommend getting one with a gravy as the schnitzel on its own can be dry. The pretzel and wurste are always a crowd pleaser and come with 3 types of mustards. They have a variety of "nights" throughout the week -- trivia, bingo, live music, etc. if you're into that sort of thing.

Service We came here on a Friday night. They had a live band and the spot was full. There's a bar flanking one side of the restaurant and dining tables on the other side. Service was reliable, friendly and good. Only caveat is it can get pretty loud while the band is playing but that's also something that draws people in. Food We ordered a couple of apps - both were awesome. The potato pancakes were large, piping hot and perfect. We also ordered a small order of perogies. Yum! For mains we got the Schnitzel a la Holstein and Leberkse Mit Spiegelei. We liked the schnitzel more but both dishes were good! Overall Class joint, with good food. Only draw back they were cash only

Nice German restaurant in Bay Ridge. My friend had bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes which he said was good. I enjoyed the steak salad. Beware, it has lots of dressing. I'd get it again but with the dressing on the side. Tasty. Good service also.

I got their pork schnitzel with creamy mushroom sauce and I was soooo happy with it. If you love mushroom I recommend this dish. It comes with a lot of mushroom, like you can cut a piece of pork and have a mushroom with it that how much mushroom it comes with it. Their schnitzel comes with a side of potato with bacon bits and salad. There are many dressing you can pick. If you want to try something different get their warm bacon. (For those who like bacon)

Have come here multiple times since we moved to bay ridge even when it was dining outdoors only. Their food is delicious and it's always popping. Also they have live bands which is great. Brooklyn Bards was playing tonight. They have a good variety of draft German beers. Also, have had the fresh fruit summer sangria multiple times and it's delicious. I decided to come here for restaurant week 2022. They were super busy so I will give them some leeway so it was pretty hard to get any service for a drink or more water but wow, we also waited more than an hour for appetizers. Also, they were out of a lot of items. The sausage teller was very good and apple strudel was absolutely delicious. The dessert was hot and flakey and I don't even usually like desserts, yum! This visit started out slow but ended great. Service was great at the end. Only took 20 minutes to get our entrees and no time for our dessert. I think the lesson I learned is to come early or come late. Note: They were cash only so be prepared!

I'll give them full 10 stars, not only for their hospitality but also for absolutely tasty food. Simple but delicious. Friendly atmosphere, authentic decor makes you visit very much happier . Thank you guys for serving us. Definitely will be back soon.

    PILZE FÖRSTERIN ART

We visited this restaurant the day after, as we were forgetful, and left our backpack. Olivia, the bartender and waitress, from the night before, was nice enough to safely store our bag. We were overjoyed as the restaurant had a live band playing oldie songs at 7pm. We had the pleasure of having , Amber and a young lad, served us with smiles and such politeness. Looking at the menu, there was a variety of things to try. We started our dinner with PILZE FÖRSTERIN ART. This was a mushroom appetizer to die for. It was absolutely amazing! Mouthwatering, and so flavorful with every bite. Making sure we had room to try a dessert, we decided to order a light dinner, and shared the LEBERKÄS MIT SPIEGELEI as our entree. This is a pork and veal loaf with two fried eggs on top. It came with mash potatoes, but the waitress so graciously allowed us to substitute with the German Potato salad. The eggs were perfect to our liking, but the loaf was a bit salty, but still good. The potato salad was also good. The entree was a nice size portion. We ordered the Black Forest cake, and thought it was okay. For us, it was not moist enough. We're looking forward to returning as our two consecutive visits were very nice.

Ask the Community - Schnitzel Haus

Are they still exercising their free speech right to display Trump's photo, after that controversy a few years back? I have wanted to try this place, but if they still post it, fine, I will exercise my right to dine elsewhere.

That picture was not political in any form. It was given to us by Mr. Trump 20 years ago when we opened the restaurant wishing us good luck. It was vandalized and not replaced many years ago.

    Do they serve red wine?

    Yes.

Additionally, the cocktail options are nicely priced: sangria from $8, cervezas from $5 and mixed drinks from $12. The menu offers traditional Mexican fare; my favorite is the cheese enchiladas with a verde sauce which myself and friend Sally ordered. It is a very filling entree: three enchiladas, yellow rice, salad, beans in a verde sauce. The verde sauce has a nice kick to it. My friend Cathryn ordered chicken enchiladas. They also serve great tortas and my friend Virginia ordered the Chicken torta; hearty sandwich with Chicken Milanese. As an appetizer, we ordered the always fresh and delicious guacamole and Totopos. No snickering. This is largely because of the sweet customer service. A three star review for more…read morelike two star quality. It is not saying much for a city that really lacks in Mexican cuisine. To say I did not give this restaurant a fair shake is like saying I only went to an ice cream shop and only ordered the cone. I went all out there, which is maybe why I received the service I received, or maybe it is because I sat next to what appeared to be my server's children. Whatever the case, I was treated well here. Onto the food. The Sopa Azteca (their tortilla soup) is a nice change from what I had at a previous Mexican restaurant. I would like the portion to be bigger and more meat in it, but I like the Mexican spices and the variety here. It is quite enjoyable. The Queso Fundido should be called a Queso No Divertido. It was awful to eat, with lousy flavor and texture. This is the second time I have struck out with this appetizer. It is safe to say I am done ordering it in this city. Nobody does it right. The Paella is nice, but at its core has the essence of a nice dish. Some parts are full of tremendous flavor, and some parts are dry and bland. I ate this all out of necessity, and also because once I mixed the bland with the good it actually turned into something quite pleasant. The chicken enchiladas I ordered because it would not be fair to come here and pass up something Tex-Mex as an entree. The chicken is inconsistent, well cooked in some spots, dry in others. The salsa verde has a lot of kick here, but the side salad and charro beans nearly ruin the whole thing. At least the Mexican rice is fluffy and has great flavor. Speaking Spanish to the staff helped curry points in the service department. I like family owned businesses. Everybody was busy and on point. So what if the food does not wow, I have given more, for less. Hence why this is a three star review and not a two star review.

Every visit feels like catching up with an old friend who knows exactly how you like your salsa. That consistency is as comforting as it is rare in the city that never sleeps. Before we even flipped open the menu, they slid over complimentary chips and pico de gallo that set the bar impossibly high. The pico was bursting with bright, tangy tomatoes and cilantro, and those homemade chips were the perfect balance of crisp and salty. It was the kind of welcome that makes you cancel your other dinner plans on the spot. I went for the Taco de Birria made with brisket, and I swear the richest consomé I've ever tasted lived up to its name. Each taco got dunked into that deep, savory broth, then inhaled faster than a greased pig at a county fair. By taco number three, I was pretty sure I'd found my soulmate in molten cheese and slow-cooked meat form. 'The Man' ordered the Chicken Mole, which came with a generous scoop of rice and beans on the side. He sat back, took that first bite, and basically entered a state of pure food-induced bliss. Watching him lose track of time as he devoured every last drop of mole was its own kind of entertainment. We washed it all down with a Piña Margarita, along with another cocktail that leaned so hard into the tequila you could almost feel the agave fields. Add a Modelo on the side and you've got a drinks menu that doesn't play around. These aren't dainty sips--they're the kind that could very reasonably put hair on your chest. Service here is so personalized it's almost telepathic. We never waited more than a second for a refill or a check, and the staff felt like an invisible waitress on standby, ready to swoop in the moment we so much as blinked. We left a hefty tip without hesitation because they earned every penny. Las Margaritas on 3rd and 92nd isn't just our go-to--it's a staple. Whether we're craving tacos at home in our pajamas or settling in for a full sit-down dinner, we know they'll deliver every single time. Consider us regulars for life.

Skip the burgers and go full-on Mexica you won't regret it. 3- I was a burrito loyalist till hubby got me on enchiladas and... game over. We also tried the las margaritas at the other location on 73rd street 3rd Avenue and food quality is consistent. Locals love it. You will too.

They offered great recommendations since it was our first time at this restaurant for most of the people in our party. The food was delicious. We decided to go for their bigger dishes and share it family style. We took their mixed grilled platter and their seafood mix. We also had their Sarava salad, cheesy bread and tuna tartare! All great! The drinks did not disappoint either. Some great craft cocktail choices. We actually saved room for dessert this time and tried their banana crème brûlée and Brazilian carrot cake - YUM!

The waitress her name was Jennifer, she was very nice and accommodating. I didn't experience any attitude or rudeness from any of the staff which was good. My only complaint is that she didn't write down our order which in turn got our food all wrong. I ordered the burger well done, my chick ordered hers medium. Well I ended up with the medium and she got the well done. We wanted cheddar cheese, well we both got swiss. We wanted truffle fries and we both ended up with regular fries. So yeah this pretty much goes down to not writing exactly what we wanted and us getting whatever food they felt like giving us. I would recommend next time to please write down customers orders so that the paying customer gets exactly what he's paying for. I will say again the food was very good but they screwed up the orders. Will I go back, I don't know but I hope in future they write orders down so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Happy hour every day until 7 pm - with multiple drink and food items priced at $8. the decor is dark and sexy, full of velvets and nice artwork. id come back for the secret lounge in the back. the bathroom is clean and nicely decorated too. When we got here, I guess everyone else had the same idea because it filled up. the service slowed down after we placed our order, but there was only 1 server working the bar. the $8 happy hour espresso martini hit the SPOT and was refreshing too. they have a few craft beer choices on menu too. The Gambas is a must get. i think i counted 6 plump perfectly seasoned grilled shimp on a bed of sauce and toasted crustini. Grab the mac n cheese bites! my date loved them (they can come with sausage or without). i sampled the mac sauce on top and thought it was pretty good. the 5 wings on happy hour were messy, but delicious. i tasted the honey but not the chipotle. it might need a hint of more heat if they wanna call it chpotle. would come back in a heartbeat.

But when I was seated, the waitress forgot to mention we MUST scan the QR menu from the table - after I ordered i immediately informed the waitress then she told me they will need to look for it or I may need to cancel my order, but the app I ordered from dont have that option. I have to ask the waitress twice and still didnt tell me if they find it or not. I have to look for another person to find out if they find my order. Also, the app charge a "cheqout fee". I asked the staff how to avoid this fee she suggest to link my bank account! (no way!!!). I can pay cash, we just have to order differently and let the staff know, but the staff there doesnt give any instructions until it was asked. As for the food taste - disappointed!! order the fried chicken - tender but soggy not crunchy or crispy. service - once u are seated it is hard to find them. they will not come by and see if we need anything else. i really didnt want to tip them. but i still did.
