The atmosphere of Bitter Monk is high end and intimate. It would be a perfect date night spot or an overdue catch up with a friend. The staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable about their spirits and cocktails. I believe they make their own alcohol on premise and also infuse the flavors, which you can see through a glass wall. The cocktail I tried was spectacular and they also have a happy hour menu. Highly recommend if you're looking for a private place at Industry City.

Gorgeous space , but felt a little more like an office than a cocktail bar. My drinks were strong but just okay, they were whiskey based. The gin based drinks were a lot better

My partner and I were in the area for a show recently and noticed Bitter Monk had just opened, so we made sure to prioritize coming to BM for a drink beforehand! For those who dont know, Bitter Monk is owned by the same team at Sugar Monk, which is an amazing cocktail bar in uptown manhattan. We walked in on a Saturday around 3pm and it was fairly quiet, but we were excited to find out it was happy hour. We both ordered drinks off the happy hour menu, along with the $6 black Truffle popcorn. The drinks were delicious and boozy... and who doesn't like a good Truffle popcorn?!?! We enjoyed everything so much we split one more cocktail and another order of popcorn. Bitter Monk is a bit hard to find as it's on the second floor of IC.. But totally worth going to!

A cute bar with impeccable cocktails. We tried the menu items Negroni and one other that was a little spicy both were delicious and a reasonable price. Industry City now has pretty much everything you could want. Friendly staff here too plus there is a tasting room.

Everything was offered as one or two ounces pours, so you could sample a bunch or relish exclusive bottles. I had one ounce of the Lucky Thirteen for $15. I typically see the bottle at a $200-$300 price point, so it was nice to get a taste without the huge splurge. Wonderful aroma. Sweet and vanilla forward reminding me of marshmallows. Sweet corn flavor too eventually switching over to more spicy flavors from the run in the late flavor and during the finish. Staff was quick, friendly, and helpful. There was one single occupancy restroom. Dynamic atmosphere. Huge sprawling windows allowing plenty of breeze and sunlight when opened. They have monstrous black out curtains which can be draped to instill a classic dim and romantic speakeasy vibe.

The vibes are classy with an entire wall of bottles lit up for a nice ambiance. Since we had our pup with us, we sat in the patio. I ordered the Rye Tea Punch ($16) while the boyfriend got the 10 Year Old Fashioned ($16). It was so cute how my drink came in a little clear teacup, which was a nice touch. The only thing that was disappointing was the slow service. We had asked for the check, but it never came around after waiting 15 minutes. We had reservations to get to, so the delay was annoying. I ended up walking up to the bartender to close out the tab since we never got our check.

Cozy, old-school Italian vibes, staff speaking Italian like they're judging you lovingly, and Negronis that'll make you rethink every bad decision you've ever made at a bar. I ordered the lasagna because a man should test a kitchen on its fundamentals. Absolute home run. Rich, layered, comforting--felt like someone's nonna was in the back nodding in approval. No notes. No leftovers. Bar Mario isn't trying to be trendy. It's just confident, timeless, and quietly excellent. The kind of spot where you come hungry, leave happy, and start planning your next visit before you even hit the sidewalk.

I have now been to Bar Mario several times, and it is absolutely worth a 5-star review…read more First, the ambience is terrific. It's not a huge restaurant (so I would make a reservation): a few 2- and 4-seat high tops, maybe 6 or 7 tables, and a bar with about 10 seats. But the environment is warm and cozy, with low lighting and music loud enough to enjoy, soft enough to have conversations with your party, the bartender, or whoever else. The servers are all excellent. Very charming and friendly. They check in often, but not in an intrusive way. I've also seen the owner walking around, greeting customers, and talking with his staff. He's always around, and he's a friendly presence. There's such a great neighborhood vibe here - there are definitely some regulars here, and it helps create a homey atmosphere. The food here is outstanding. I have not had a bad dish here. The Caesar salad is actually made with several long stalks of romaine, so it stays crisp. The meatballs come with polenta around the plate, and it is fantastic. I've also had the hangover spaghetti (excellent) and the lasagna (amazing). Their calamari also has a few shrimp and (I think) some bay scallops, so that's a great addition. And their cocktails are outstanding - potent but flavorful. I don't get a chance to go to Red Hook much, but when I do, I definitely want to stop here. It's on the "main road" of Red Hook, and there are definitely some cute shops and coffee places around, and of course, there's Ikea not too far. This restaurant, though, deserves your business.

People line up before opening to get on the waitlist but they all got seats. Show up at 130 after the 12pm rush on the weekends and you have a great shot. We got a table right away and didn't have to wait. Decent menu but the prices reflect its popularity Best item we ate - French onion soup. Delicious. Rich. Cheese was all melted against the side of the bowl. This was perfectly salty and cheesy. The definition of French onion soup. $18 - pricy. But tasty Next best - Reuben. Perfectly done. Crisp. Savory. Covered in sauce Okay finally the burger Was it a good burger absolutely. It was thick, juicy and perfectly cooked. The semi cooked onion added to the flavor and I can see why it hyped up. BUT $34 FOR A BURGER?!? When you take the price into consideration, I don't think it's worth it. The burger is solid, but not for that amount of money The thing that surprise me was the French onion soup and the service which was almost Michelin level. Cables were cleared quickly, they wiped down the tables in between each course. I would come back on a winter day to get the soup and maybe another item off the menu.

This is a hot take but I will say the $24 Ruben here is better than the $34 dry age burger. However, I will say the burger was also pretty good as well. We got the burger medium rare. It was very juicy when bitten into. Service was a little bit mediocre given they were trying to move people in and out as fast as possible. Great casual spot. Typically they say that it is only reservations and the walk-in list is for if they are cancellations only. We were very fortunate in being able to have walked in and gotten a spot.
