Stopped here today on my way over Sonora Pass. I had an excellent almond-milk Mocha and a fantastic mango/lime scone. There was a plentiful choice of pastries, including vegan and gluten-free options. Also a huge selection of sandwiches, salads, desserts and smoothies. Also, the owner custom roasts the coffee beans, so only the best organic varietals, grown in farmer-friendly way. Prices were also excellent and the staff and owner could not have been more friendly. GET READY, I am a regular at this establishment, 2 to 3 times a week and although I usually have a good experience there, I witnessed an incident that was very off-putting. The owner of this Cafe was explaining to another customer why she could not have outside food, which I understand completely. The young lady who also happened to be a regular customer understood as well ( i witnessed her put her food away, was apologetic and polite). But the owner would not stop policing this youg lady, putting her on the spot and asking her what was in her cup? The young lady tried to explain she eats at this establishment all the time and named her regular orders. She even stated "I just got here I order once Im settled" It was sad , and honestly very much tacky. Enough for me to make thus review. Just goes to show small businesses are still businesses never the less. I for one am going to pick another establishment to go to. Hope that young lady is ok. read more

My friend and I were looking for a place that served sandwiches and came across Schnoogs cafe. We decided to give it a try. It Was super crowded so we figured that was a good sign. It seemed to be a nice place for people to go sit and have a cup of coffee or some lunch. The menu has panini's and a couple of croissant sandwiches. I opted for the turkey cranberry croissant. They had a nice selection of baked goods as well so I decided to try the coconut scone . I also got a hot mocha. The turkey croissant sandwich was a big disappointment. Turkey, cream cheese and cranberries should not be on a sandwich together. There was a ton of cranberry which made the croissant soggy, the turkey was salty and the sandwich could've done without the added cream cheese. I couldn't even eat half of it. The coconut scone was amazing. It was delicious...had little bits of coconut in it and an icing glaze on top. I will definitely try that again. The mocha was really good as well. Slightly creamy and just the right about of chocolate. I enjoyed it. Make sure you are not in a hurry if you go....the line was quite long and there was a bit of a wait. I will give them another try though, the scone alone would be worth the trip. read more

My understanding is that it's hard to keep the sandwich bread (which might be the best I've had) free from flower contamination, but that the scones are prepared separately and GF. Yes! Scones!! So gluten free items, plus decaf coffee; both of which can be scarce to find in the Bay Area?? Decaf is especially a challenge in non corporate SF shops. This is it! And, my sandwich was yummy! If I had a Delorean time machine right now, I would punch in the coordinates to that exact moment I decided to grace this establishment and prevent myself from ordering a single thing from you Schnoogs. You are probably asking yourself- CMON! It couldn't have been that bad, right? But it was my friends. Allow me to explain if you have a moment. My wife and I walk into this joint, and the ambiance is welcoming, but the horrible street gang chalkboard graffiti menu isn't. For a second I thought to myself, am I in Sonora or Compton? Meanwhile the girl behind the cashier is rolling her eyes at us for not ordering in under 10 seconds. God forbid she doesn't take another selfie of herself curing cancer as she serves coffee to people. My wife ordered a breakfast muffin and a tea. I decide to really screw myself over by ordering a turkey cranberry sandwhich and an iced coffee. The total? 25 dollars. The look on our faces as we realize we could have ate like royalty at our favorite burger joint down the road for half the price? PRICELESS. read more

Sadly going to have to give this place a low rating. Second time I've been here & both times were issues. I let it go the first time hoping it was just a bad day but this time was worse. Went in ordered a panini (whatever the vegetarian one was). I had looked at the menu before coming in and i asked for extra pesto. She told me it doesn't have pesto so she'll take off the olive tapenade and add pesto instead. I was confused but oh ok sure. I then sat down (not wanting to hold up the next person in line) and checked my phone - the item had both. Still no big deal I went back up to the register to let her know it has both and I'd like to keep everything on it. She was no longer standing there but a blonde walked by said one second. I continued waiting she finally came back and I was going to just tell her real quick but now she just ignored me and continued to work on smoothies instead of asking if I have a question. I waited 10 mins no help. Finally irritated I sat down - like oh well I guess I'll just not have the olive tapenade. Then a guy who walked in after me gets his food (I still haven't) and I hear her say "here is your panini and pineapple smoothie" - which is what I ordered too, but I hoped for the best. 5 more minutes passes by and the girl walks to my table and then sees my number and realized she gave my food to the wrong person. So she says oh let me make it again. She finally brings it out, sets it down and walks away. Umm ok. Then I thought just please at least be good, but nope the panini bread is thick and the stuff inside the panini only filled the very middle. I had over half my bread with zero filling on it so it was thrown away because why am I eating empty bread??
