I liked that there were "trashcans" for toys that needed to be cleaned to prevent the spreading of germs. Bathrooms had step stools and toilet seats for kids which was great to see. There was a little room for kids to have their snacks as well. Check out the events calendar online to see if there are any special visitors/groups. The day we went there were visitors that brought crabs/hermit crabs and a project to make robo crabs. I do wish they had a water fountain or water filling station.

Crocker Park boasts absolutely gorgeous views!…read more We randomly visited Salem Willows Park while in the area, and it was amazing! We were exploring the area and happened onto the park and decided to stop and walk around. This brought us upon Crocker Park, and the views were phenomenal! Seeing all of the boats and harbors was breathtaking. We sat on a bench for a while and just took in the sites. The park has plenty of walking paths, and benches and rocks to sit on. It would make a great spot for a picnic. If you find yourself in this area I highly recommend checking out Crocker Park! The views alone are worth the trip.

The property is well-maintained, clean (well, as clean as a farm gets) and orderly. Staff are thoughtful, attentive and at ease with the day-to-day management of the horses, and their owners :) The owner, Lisa, is a lifelong equestrian and displays the innate skills to run the operations, instructional services, boarding, training and other requirements of the farm, while maintaining a safe environment. She exhibits a deep understanding of the horse psyche. There is a sense of unity amongst owners, riders and staff. I think it is a happy place. As I have relocated to the West Coast, I miss all things EDF. Were I to return to New England, this would be my choice. Thanks EDF staff!!!

I have been going to Raymond's Turkey Farm for years. And I mean years…read more We order our turkey for Thanksgiving every year and wait in line, well if you've been there, you know the drill. Hurry up and wait. But...the turkey is well worth waiting for. Juicy, tender delicious. I've read some other reviews for Raymond's and I think there are more factors involved than just blaming Raymond's for the way their turkey turned out. Overcooking, under buying the size, etc. In all the years I have never got a turkey that was dry and tough as other describe. I go during the year and buy turkey pies, but my favorite are their chicken pies. They don't always have them, so if you are interested, call ahead. They slice the chicken which I love. I think the slicing allows for more chicken in the pie than cubes. I want a chicken pie, not a gravy pie. The turkey is the same. Jam packed with turkey. I keep several in the freezer especially in the Winter. There are very few placed that have good turkey and chicken pies. Trust me, I've tried them all. They also sell sliced cold turkey, turkey salad, al the typical Thanksgiving sides, turkey meatballs, meatloaf, shepherd's pie, soups, turkey burgers, turkey sausage and various turkey parts. This is a place well worth trying, and if you go at holiday time make sure you are ready to hurry up and wait. They can't help that they are slammed with business at that time of year.

The 1st Spot was the main visitor center- Very nicely done and very friendly Rangers that gave us an overview of the area. The displays are very informative and helpful. A lot of stuff to see while walking, a train, a fountain, canals, murals (not part of park). We went to the second area, a very friendly young Ranger at desk, she explained what we could see within the buildings. This area was also beautifully done with some of the best restrooms that we have seen. Top of the line !!! The machines were running upstairs to give you a general idea of the noise & chaos that the workers endured. There were videos of actuall workers who told their story which really brought the history to life. There is a trolley that will take you to a third part of the Park (we ran out of time) so missed out on that location. Overall a great representation of an era,of a time of industrial development and the people who made it possible. We visited on a holiday weekend so downtown was pretty empty and street parking was easy (and free due the day). I can see where parking could be confusing on normal days. The second location was very confusing as the building is located where they converted surrounding buildings into apartments. The parking lot in front had restrictions and we just parked on street to be safe. Most of the Rangers working were friendly & helpful except for a group of three that we encountered on factory floor. We just missed a demonstration I am guessing (there were no other visitors that around), but as we walked up, they broke off their conversation and walked away. No acknowledgement at all, which was strange as usually they greet you at least. This incident, parking and the Boarding house not being open (sign said it was) put a slight tarnish on the whole visit. Definitely recommend as the history is fascinating, the areas we saw are well done, and most of the Staff are super helpful & friendly.

Open seasonally, this is a unique NPS park as a site representing the industrial revolution,…read morefactory working conditions, and an early but prominent labor strike, led by female workers. When I went, the visitor center was undergoing renovations, but I could still tour a few of the open buildings, which were well worth it. We started with the boardinghouse. Young women from local farms were early workers who lived on site in an era when women hadn't worked before. I found the information thorough representing both the pros and cons of women having their own income and Lowell being one of the first towns women could open their own bank accounts, they were experiencing life outside their family's farms for the first time interacting with new people to the terrible working conditions and slashed pay forcing the women to stand up for themselves as a collective. It wasn't just a simple "workers good factory bad" but had quotes from many of the workers and the array of experiences. Next door is the factory itself. There is a very thorough exhibit on the entire history of Lowell from its founding based on its ability to harness the river power to its decline based on the rise of other power sources and cheaper sites and labor in the south to its revival based on changing industries. The exhibit was very informative and visually interesting. We didn't even have time to look at everything because it was close to closing time, so leave at least an hour to go through it. There were two videos to engage with, and hearing interviews from former workers was very insightful. When we went, the machine demo was not available, so there was no fee. A tour guide explained how the machines work, so even without them actually running, you could understand the noise, the safety risks, the unbearable heat they worked in, and the fabric fibers in the air they breathed in constantly. Small gift shop on site, and they offer other buildings and tour types on different days, so it's best if you can pick a day for one of the boat tours or when some of the other buildings are open. Personally, I thought what we experienced was still really interesting and worth the visit. NPS sites generally put on a great presentation.

It's located in a business area in the suburb of Wilmington. It is Shriners Auditorium, which is quite big but I have to say the seats are very uncomfortable ! If I had known, could have brought a seat cushion. It was interesting to learn this circus is from the Hanford family dating back to the 19 century. The circus is geared towards the young children. That is why they had it on April vacation. It wasn't bad, just kind of boring for adults. I really enjoyed the horses and the great stunts that they did. The food they have is pricy. Nothing special so I would suggest to eat before going or after. All in all, if you have children it is fun to go to and the drive is easy.

They do have a great place going with the winery and it's tasting right at the spot. It seemed a popular spot in the weekend. Very crisp, right amount of mellow tart and no metallic finish : the dryness was perfect. I usually hate rose as most are sweet or on the sweeter side but not this one. The place is clean and the hospitality is phenomenal. Why 4 and not 5? The utensils need some love. They are barely in any normal condition to be used, unless you are a pro at cooking. It took me 2-3 curing and seasonings to make sure it's usable. And yes, at $45 for the bottle of sparkling rose I felt it's pricey. It maybe small batch hence pricier but yeah, I'll rather have barolos or barbarescos at that price than rose. Overall a great historic place from 1680s.
