Over the years and through our travels we've remodeled/renovated three kitchens and eight bathrooms and always took the route of manufactured cabinetry mostly because we didn't feel we could afford custom. Based on a friend's recommendation (she's a designer who rennovates SF homes and uses Shreier regularly) we had Greg do some bookshelves for us. We couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. My wife (who sells commercial furniture for a living) was so impressed with the quality we just had him do our kitchen remodel. We were about to remodel our 30-year-old kitchen with factory cabinets when our designer suggested we contact Greg for an estimate. Finally, my husband and I made the decision to do a complete remodel of our Nob Hill kitcken in San Francisco. Our building is a Beaux Arts design and our "old" kitchen was quite large, including a butler's pantry. we were in the market to find a cabinetmaker who is also an accomplished artist in the craft. as a seventh-generation (i think!) cabinetmaker, we found that in Greg Schreier. we had a non-traditional remodel and requested that he provide some challenging solutions, and he did this for us beautifully. Greg has his own, large, complete studio where he executes the designs and produces high-quality goods. the apprentices he hires are well-trained and able. and, just as importantly, all the work -- even the strenuous installations -- were accomplished with good humor and style. We recently renovated our home. Greg did our built-in entertainment center in our living room, custom sideboard/bar in our dining room, an office with desk, customized shelves, a built in dresser in our spare bedroom, and wine cabinets in our cellar. Greg does beautiful work, was very thorough in helping us choose the best materials, and was on time. Honestly, we didn't get other bids, so I can't comment on how his costs compare. However, we are very happy with our end result and feel our money was well spent.
