I am a big fan supporter of local establishments and patronize them to keep them in business. However, the (lack of) service at Shumacher's appliance store in Ridgewood on Myrtle Ave. is unacceptable. After a recent order was placed for a washer/dryer and was delivered in an inoperable condition, the "customer service" at Shumacher's became non-existent. To hang up on my 92 year old legally blind mother repeatedly is not the way to conduct a local (or any) business. Unless you want to be treated like crap once you pay them, you must STAY AWAY!!!! I wish the new owners good luck in their upcoming retirement, but this unfriendly, incompetent enterprise should not be allowed to exist!!! I had a wonderful experience with Schumacher's! My landlord, a long time patron, recommended them. On the hottest days of the year I finally decided enough was enough, I needed an Air Conditioner! I went in on a Saturday, they helped me to determine which size AC would be be best for my apartment, they had it in stock, and delivered and installed it on Monday! Some people mentioned that they payed a little more but you know what, you get what you pay for. I had wonderful customer service. The installation guys were super courteous and they wore their masks while doing their work in my sweltering house. You could tell that they took pride in their work, making sure that my new giant AC was just right so that it didn't drip. When they were done there wasn't a trace that they had been here. They took care of all of the boxes and packaging materials. I won't hesitate to go back to Schumacher's for any other appliance purchases. read more

If I could give this company a zero rating I would. I was assured I would be getting the Item I purchased on one day and did not receive the item on the specified day. Called the following and explained that I was working and could not be at the house to receive the item. Told it was being delivered by 4pm which was ok. I get a call from delivery company that they were delivering my item at 2pm while I'm at work. I race to get home only for them to get there at 3:30pm and tell me they could not get the item in through the door. The delivery people were unprofessional and left the item on the sidewalk and didn't even try to bring the item in. Stay away from this store, Horrible customer service and horrible delivery practices. read more

We had an excellent experience recently with Schumachers Appliances. My parents wall unit air conditioner broke in the middle of a July heat wave. Schumachers sent someone the next day to look at it. Luckily only the unit and not the sleeve needed to be replaced. We appreciated the honesty and cost savings. We paid for it and it was installed the SAME day, literally less than 24 hours from initial phone call. read more

Went to purchase washer and dryer from Schumachers amid the pandemic. Both salesmen were very knowledgeable and helpful. Prices were great and delivery was as promised . As far as delivery , workers wore gloves masks and helped with cleanup and took away old machines. Experience from beginning to end was A 1, I highly recommend making a purchase from schumachers. Will need a refrigerator shortly and will,be going back to Eric for that purchase also. read more

Needed a basic gas dryer and Nathan went out of his way and sold me a floor model at a price no one else could match. When we were done with the sale he even helped load the dryer on my truck.I will be back for all my appliance needs as they come highly recommended in my circle of friends and family! read more

My wife and I decide to skip the big box stores and buy from a local retailer. They were able to get the refrigerator we wanted quicker than the big box stores but at a higher price. They charged more for delivery as well. The fridge arrived and was installed. Well it seems the ice maker water line hook up INSIDE the freezer was not installed correctly at Schumacher prior to delivery(the ice maker was an add on they installed at the store). We awoke the next morning to a freezer full of ice and a refrigerator full of water. The water also leaked out of the fridge and onto our kitchen floor. So we emptied all our food out of the fridge cleaned up the mess and Schumacher came to correct the problem. We awoke the next morning to another mess with the fridge flooded as well as our floor. Again we emptied the fridge and cleaned the mess. Schumacher finally got it right on the third try. We asked Schumacher to refund some of the delivery and installation costs due to all the troubles they caused us by their errors and they refused I fell they did act in good faith by not refunding money for a faulty installation. Based on this refusal I would not recommend or ever buy from this store again. read more

This place has been a staple in my family for decades. Today they delivered my moms new stove, the guys were super nice and were ahead of schedule, called to ask if they could come earlier! That never happens with a big box store. They were nice enough to remove the first stove and give me time to clean the area since the old stove had been there for 50 yrs! No joke! I'd give zero stars if I could. They are inconsiderate and unprofessional. I was referred to Schumacher by a friend because the refrigerator I ordered from Costco wouldn't be delivered until June 17. I called and spoke with Nate on Thursday, June 3 and he said he had the refrigerator and that it would be delivered on Wednesday, June 9. I immediately cancelled with Costco. On June 8, I called to confirm and Nate assured me everything was set for Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, Nate called me and said the refrigerator wasn't going to be delivered because the delivery company tried calling me and I didn't answer. I thought this odd because I had no missed calls on either of my lines. Nate assured me the delivery would take place the following day (June 10) between 2-3 PM. On June 10, Nate called and advised me that the delivery company didn't deliver to my area (Broad Channel, Queens). I gave Nate my address during our initial conversation and, supposedly, the delivery was scheduled so why was I first hearing that they didn't deliver to Broad Channel the day after they were supposed to deliver my refrigerator ??? Now I am back to square one and will be without a refrigerator for at least 2- weeks longer because Nate from Schumacher wasn't honest with me from the beginning and I relied on his assurance that my refrigerator would be delivered on the date he promised. read more

Buyers Beware!!!! If there were an option for 0 stars, that would be their rating. I purchased an air conditioner from Schumachers and the unit did not work from day one. Although I contacted Larry, I was referred back to the manufacturer who had to change a damaged control. Advance to 1 year later and the AC unit they sold me doesn't work have to purchase a new one. I called the store and told Larry of this and the response I received was "Sorry" and he hung up! This isn't the first appliance I purchased that did not operate up to par - but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried to support small business. Larry has lost has my patronage. Easily some of the worst business I've ever *attempted* to do with a company. I tried to buy a commercial washer and dryer and the delivery company completely neglected my order... twice! On two separate days I waited for delivery only to find out they were not coming. Communication from the store and the delivery company was non-existent, and we had to call every time to find out what was going on. The guy acted surprised when I called to cancel the order... I live a few blocks from this store and when my washing machine broke, they were the first I called. They referred me to an excellent repairman who told me my machine's transmission went. It wasn't worth fixing (DONT buy a Maytag) so I needed a new one. My friend told me to go here, so did my husband's coworker and my grandmother's tenant. I get to the store and there are NO customers and one older employee who could possibly be the owner. I explained my situation, how I was in the market for a new machine and thanked the store for referring me to Vinny, the repairman. He said, "great," without even bothering to look up from the paper he was reading. I mentioned how I was interested in the HE machines. That got another, "great." I even took pics of the machine I liked best to show my hubby later. I spent a good 10 minutes in store, but couldn't get the salesguy to get out of his seat, look up from his paper or say more than ,"great". I really wanted to keep my business local to maybe save on shipping and have a quick delivery but it was obvious that Schumacher's is not interested in actually having to work for a sale. I should actually thank them , since I went straight to Home Depot that night and found an incredible deal. Got a HE machine for 10% off w free delivery and haul away AND it was a better machine. I spent $800 total and will have my machine in 2 days. read more
