Incredible find! Friendly staff, amazing smells, and even better food! The best fries I've had in France! The proportions are HUGE! Could easily split a meal and would be plenty full. Husband and I got the chicken burger (added avocado) and the Schwartz's burger and each took half with us. The chicken was pounded thin and breaded which added an amazing crunch (and they give you 2 layers of chicken!) The egg on the burger was perfectly cooked, to die for. They will give you free tap water if you ask. Definitely a must-go in Paris. On a side note, I am not a pastrami fan, but my father could live on the stuff so I know what smell the "right" smell, texture, and marbling should be and Schwartz's has some of the best. I previously had two good meals here but yesterday I had such an awful meal that I will never return. The veal pastrami they used was so fatty and lacked the lean texture it should have that it was almost nauseating to look at to see all the glazed white fat oozing out. It was terribly gross to eat so I handed the plate back to the waiter and he said oh okay. For a $30 and as a regular customer I expected better customer service than that. I like how one of the other reviewers said this was a total tourist trap for Americans. Really? If you were an American, would you eat New York-Jewish deli food in Paris? I would assume it would be awful. We only popped in for a drink but I got to witness the huge plates of food people were eating. The portions are big, Americana style after all. The staff are quite cheeky, it's different to the classic rudeness of Paris, and frankly I just wasn't in the mood for it. They were cleaning up as we had our drink and actually pushed the bill closer to us, yet when we wanted to pay, they were nowhere to be found. I did really like my frozen passonfruit daiquiri though. It went down a treat and I could have had a few more. They make a bad moijto though, too sweet. read more

Great looking New York style restaurant. The wait staff have good recommendations and are attentive and full of humour for our party of four! Full bar and non-alcoholic options. The non-alcoholic frozen limeade was delicious! If you prefer just tap water they keep your bottle full throughout the meal. Appetizer: Mozzarella sticks were a hit. Not homemade but still good. Served with pesto and tomato sauce. We chose to order our hamburgers one more level on the doneness scale and we're glad we did as the patty was HUGE! Schwartz burgers come with a fried egg on it so be prepared for it to be messy, that burger slides around! The Yankee burger was delicious and had caramel iced onions on it which really made a nice flavour profile with the bacon and cheese. I couldn't eat it all so I cut it before I even took a bite to save for later. Side choices are coleslaw, green salad, hash browns and fries. Another person at our table ordered the chicken wings. They were smothered in barbque sauce and served with honey mustard. Cooked perfectly to the bone. Dessert: NYC style cheesecake, right on point served with strawberries. It was a Saturday night and the wait time was 30 minutes. I would wait again on my next trip to Paris. read more

We were looking for a quick nite to eat for lunch and landed in front of this deli. Portions were huge! I ordered the Pastrami sandwich and my husband ordered a cheeseburger. Very yummy! A friend of mine from the UK recommended this place. Had a really amazing burger - the special of the night - with halloumi cheese, pesto and greens. Very happy the bartender recommended it. I arrived a few minutes before 7 PM. They were not yet open, however the staff was very nice and let me know I should come back at 7 PM. I walked around the block and popped into a few shops. When I returned 15 minutes later, the place was already packed. Luckily I was able to snag a single seat at the bar. This place seems very popular. The service was great and the bartender was very attentive and helpful. I would certainly recommend this restaurant. The best burgers I've had on the European continent! Woah that American cheese on the burger was amazing, nice large size portions, and patty was ideally cooked (a bit undercooked for an American). Service was great and accommodating. We walked in just as lunch service was about to end and a woman greeted us asked if we knew what we wanted and placed the order before we sat. Burgers just look good, but don't taste really good, just like when you are shopping online! This is not a diner or a deli whatsoever although it's owner believes otherwise because she has covered the walls with American photos. I was pushed outside by a waitress (manager) to wait for my friend to arrive. She wouldn't allow me to sit and wait for a few minutes, she wouldn't even let me have a drink at the bar (there were plenty of empty tables). Her excuse was that this was a diner not a restaurant. Of course she thought I am just another french she could give a diner lesson to. Well people at Schwartz: First thing about a diner is about comfort. You don't shove people on tables like machines. Second thing about diner is service of drinks are as important as the food. Burger style was good, but don't go there if you are looking for home made food or a real diner or a real deli! read more

It was horrible. The server at the bar was very friendly. When I politely asked them to make me a sandwich without meat, the manager nearly threw me out. He was rude and arrogant and just plain mean. I will never ever go back. I ended up with a bowl of chicken soup, which was very good. The server kept apologizing for the manager. Very anti-American, and it's supposed to be a "New York" deli. We ended up at this spot as we headed to another place and found it closed. This place had a line out the door and although we were hesitant to have American food while in Paris we figured if people are waiting it was a good sign. The place is essentially burgers and sandwiches. We were not lucky enough to get a booth so the space was super cramped as you are literally sharing elbow space with your stranger neighbor but this is not uncommon. We ordered a Schwartz Burger and a Reuben. The portions were huuuuuge. We were only able to finish 2/3 of our food and could not order dessert. The burger was slightly undercooked as I ordered it medium but it was quite raw in the middle. It came topped with an egg, cheese and smoked duck...I love duck but personally it did nothing for me in the burger. The Reuben was tasty, loved the caramelized onions it was topped with. The fries were great, crunchy and nicely salted. The coleslaw and pickle were super awesome though! The service was excellent, neither one of us speak French but we were completely comfortable in the mostly french crowd. I would definitely go back to this place if I were in the mood for a burger and fries. read more

Very crowded and a long wait to be seated, so I am thinking this HAS to be good. We order a smoked meat sandwich and a cheeseburger. Fries, pickles, and coleslaw accompanied our dishes. The food arrived fast and hot, and we dug in immediately. That is where the party ended. The smoked meat sandwich, although visually identical to its Montreal and NYC cousins, was HORRIBLY over salted, to the point where I could not eat more than half. The burger also looked great, but the meat was not ground beef, but more like a grated cut of lousy French meat. If you are American and expecting an American burger, you will likely be disappointed. read more

Went the first time and we ordered 2 hamburgers and were totally average with no taste at all. The onion rings were good. Second time for brunch we ordered egg Benedict and were cold and not good at all! My gf had muffin eggs and as well no taste at all. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all. Very good smoked meat sandwich - go for the "very best" maybe as I preferred it to the "very very best". Burgers are also great and huge with good toppings. It's the place you realize French cooking isn't all snails and terrines but an attitude of cooking things well with best ingredients whatever is on the menu. Enormous great juicy burger! I've eaten many burgers in Paris including the hype spots and this place is up there. The fries were medium sized, lightly crispy. Burger was PERFECT medium rare. A little too thick of a patty but I can't really complain about that... And I have a huge mouth. And thank god they had Heinz ketchup. They kept it classic. They have that Budweiser beer also... Not the American one... The European one which was nice. read more

They have the best cheesecake but the smoked meat was not what you would expect from it. The meat was dry and very finely sliced. We're not sure if it's homemade. It looked and tasted like those smoked meat sold in plastic bags in the US or in Canada. The cheesecake was excellent; as good as a genuine Nez York cheesecake. read more

The burgers here are HUGE! We got there at 19h00 to make sure to get a seat for our group of 8, and by 19h45 the place was packed with people waiting shoulder to shoulder for a seat. That made for lots of jealous people staring at us eating our massive burgers. I didn't mind because my Spicy Burger was delicious, with just the right amount of heat. I ordered my burger rare (saignant), and it arrived "bleu." The medium rare one at the table looked a little overcooked, so I'm glad I stuck with rare, thought ideally it needed two more minutes on the flat top. The fries were also very good. I did try my dining companions smoked meat sandwich and wasn't impressed at all. It was a little too dry, and served with BBQ sauce which I thought was pretty odd. We finished the meal with a slice of NY Cheesecake with a graham cracker crust served with fresh strawberries. Very good. And it should be noted that they do have To Go containers, a Parisian oddity, which we put to good use as half us us didn't finish our burgers. We will be back when we get a hankering for a good quality American style burger. (We dined at the Trocadero location in the 16th.) read more
