I've been going to the Sci-Fi factory since it opened and I've had nothing but a good experience. A few of the other reviews complain about lack off room in the store, but I never thought so. Yes, there are tables in the back, but I've never had a problem getting to anything on the shelves. There's plenty of room between the video game, comic and tabletop gaming aisles and most of the merchandise is openly displayed. Sure, some of the older comics are stored in bins, but most comic stores store them that way. Generally, customers want new releases, so if someone comes in looking for older stuff, they're looking for something specific. Why would the store waste premium shelf space for older (non-collector) books? Every time I've been in the Factory, newer issues are displayed in full view as you walk into the store along with figurines, accessories etc. It's a community store with lots to do and something always going on. And no, not just Magic. I take my daughter there on Wednesday nights for Pokemon tournaments and have returned week after week because everyone is so helpful and kind. My daughter's only ten and has just recently started playing; I was worried because some card battle gamers can be pretty brutal. Since we've gone, we haven't had one issue, in fact, she's made a lot of friends since she started playing and now looks forward to meeting them every week. The staff is is great too. I talked to the clerk about which books I should get for DC's new 52 release and we talked for about an hour. Nice, helpful and more than willing to geek-out and I wasn't even buying anything. Just a great experience overall. Not sure what the other reviewers are going on about, but if you head up there on a Wednesday night, it's packed - can't be that bad if it's busy, right? I urge you to go check it out for yourself and take the other reviews with a pound of salt. read more

Been coming off and on for many years. The issues with this game store never appeared as bad to me until I had a chance to walk inside Madness Games in Plano for the 1st time. I was blown away that a store could be so organized and realized that the store I would occasionally go to was not. I remember thinking as a teenager and young adult that game stores are like zoos and the fact that it exists is reason enough to be grateful and that they are probably more difficult to run than perhaps other stores so they should get a pass for lack of organization and not having the most personable staff. After experiences in madness (Plano) and visiting 3 different game stores while out of town on vacation, it is has become clear to me that we have a sub-par game store. It's very frequently messy the times I've been there with stuff on the floors. The staff is not polite at all. The final straw was when I drove 20 minutes through traffic to see if they had some primer for minis I was painting. I arrive, see they don't have the color I want to buy. I ask the associate when they might have more and he responds "I'd like to know that too!" I think the workers don't value professionalism because they are hobbyist and want to appear more authentic, either that or they don't simple care about being polite. I drove 20 minutes and felt like the guy was being short with me. When I left I thought to myself I've seen better and experienced better service at other game stores. I am not gonna support a game store that is sloppy and rude. I want to be person that supports a local hobby store, but I've had enough with this store. Now if they don't have it at Madness (1hour+ drive) then I order it through amazon. I am done giving Sci-fi Factory money to be sub-par game store. Fort Worth area deserves better. read more

This shop is full of amazing sci-fi things for everyone! From DND to magic the gathering, Pokemon, Anime, Funko Pops, and more! They even host campaigns for DND. They offer so many things, and the prices are fair for the value of the items, and the selection too. I've been here three times and each time was greeted by a new friendly face. The first time I had a kind man help me pick out Funko pops, and he didn't judge that I might not have as much knowledge about Pokemon as others do! The second time, my friend and I met a very kind girl who helped us pick out cards and even offered to explain DND to us all. The third time, I was searching for some new Pokémon cards to add to my collection, and not only did the magic man with a ponytail give me a booster pack, but he ended up giving me a discount. So far, the vibe is welcoming and warm, and every employee I've encountered has been so kind, generous, and overall really cool. No matter your level of knowledge or experience in role play games, collecting, Pokémon, or anything else, they will welcome you and be judgement free. If you need a gift for a sci-fi loving person in your life, they'd probably help you pick something out too. These guys absolutely have the best customer service I've ever seen in any business. Everyone should be able to enjoy their hobbies, and this awesome little shop seems to really live by that. I attend a weekly Pathfinder game here every Tuesday night. There is a board game night going on at the same time and they have great snacks every Tuesday night as well. Come on Tuesday and you're guaranteed to have fun. There seem to be events every night of the week. Some nights there are Magic Card battles and others there are Pokemon. If there isn't an event going on that you'd like to see going on, if you just ask, their friendly staff will probably help to accommodate you and start one up. I have noticed that on major event nights, it gets a little crowded for everyone else that just wants to shop there. That said, if someone was to ask one of the staff for assistance, they would have help finding whatever they need. I noticed that some reviews say that they weren't greeted, but I believe that was probably because that staff might have been busy at the time. I know on Tuesdays there are sometimes 30 people playing various board games and the staff is pretty busy. Even when they are super busy, the staff is very good about keeping an eye out for customers that come up to the counter. When asked, the staff is very accommodating and will help you find whatever you need and answer any question to the best of their ability. read more

After seeing this place only having 1 star on yelp i had to write this review. Sci fi factory is by far one of the most friendliest places around. If you have a question on just about anything whether it be about console games, board games, or even one of the many card games they sell there, they have an answer. Also if you are looking for that odd ball board game you can't seem to find anywhere but online, i bet they have it. Not to mention their used game section for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii or even psp/ds is large and growing. Whats even better is all their games have boxes with art unlike some other retailers i won't mention. With that said if you haven't already stopped by and had a chat with one of their employee's do so. Or find them on facebook so you can see when an up-in-coming event is happening at the store. read more

This store has it all! The people are very friendly, they host game night for many different games and they have a wide variety of merchandise. My husband and I first went to this store looking to join their weekly Pathfinder game. We were new to D&D and had no clue what we needed, didn't need, ect. We were easily able to find someone that was able to answer all our questions and show us everything we could use. The staff is amazing and friendly. They do get very busy on game nights or when they have tournaments but they do try their best to welcome every customer. It is a great place to not only look for new comics or games but it is also a great place to be social and meet new people. Don't shoot it down before you see it for yourself! read more

I showed up to this comic shop around March after a friend took me to the store, and it was an absolute blast the moment I walked in! The people who work there are superbly friendly and will get to know you if you try to become a regular there; it does have a decent sized community for only being open for around six months. The great part of it all is every 'regular' there are all very kind and will help you along with the employees as to whatever nerdy thing you could want with their selection of comics, trading cards, mini-war gaming, and collectibles. I seriously could not imagine going anywhere else after Sci-Fi, and I always recommend this place to all my friends! read more

Went there a week ago with my 3 kids and wife... The place was very impressive! Large open space, plenty of gaming tables, great collection of comics. What most impressed me was the customer service from one of the owners... he totally took time to answer any questions we had (and my kids have crazy ones!) and to let us know that anything that we needed he could get. What is awesome is that they have a good collection of sci-fi, fantasy books... I will happily take my family there again and plan on making all my gaming purchases from this store! read more

i know they have only been open for a week or so but this store seems to have EVERYTHING. Video games, comics, graphic novels, RPGs, Magic: The Gathering tournaments, D&D, movies, literature and lord knows what else. I've already transferred my comic subscriptions to them and cant wait to see what collectibles they get in (the owner is super knowledgeable and talked at length about what he is trying to get into the store to sell). They also have a HUGE mural of super heros covering all their windows that face Beach street that is just incredible. read more

Great place , friendly and helpful staff. I went here with my wife and kid for a 4th grade Alamo project and have watered to get into painting miniatures since I was a kid and now I had an excuse. Loads of supplies and really cool models and comics . We could have spent hours looking around and will be back for sure. We purchased some paints , landscaping items and primers, I feel the pricing on these items was better than what I found on Amazon which is a plus in my book. My Son and I walked in to check out Magic The Gathering card game. And Kale (hope I spelled that right) helped us out. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and told us everything we needed to know to get us started. The store is set up for people to come in, sit down, and enjoy playing. They have comics, video games, and many other RPG type games for sale and trade. The main reason I will be going back is the customer service. They are genuinely interested in helping you and they enjoy their job. read more

This place has become one of my families frequent go to places. The wife and I are into the comics, the kids the different gaming. It does get crowded in the evenings and weekends. The staff is great and many of the regular customers are willing to help people out. I do not agree with any of the negative reviews posted here. I guess some people expect to be coddled and babysat while shopping. Once in a while there is only one employee running the store, give him or her a break and be nice. read more

It's always nice to find a place that is up to date a fully stocked but it's even better when the customer service is top notch. The first time I went there I noticed that all of their Xbox games were less expensive than every other place I go to (Gamestop included). All of my questions were answered fully and enthusiastically. I love this shop. Everyone is very personable, and the space is great gaming. They have loads of new comics, and quite a few older comics as well. They also have a good selection of used and new video games, as well as board games, card games, and miniatures. This store is great. I have had a pull list here since it opened and played in several Friday Night Magic tournaments. This is a nice store with a big selection. I like that they have books and novels, too. My kids love it and they stay and read and play games. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable. A good clean, safe place, and they have great prices on used DVDs. Definitely check it out! read more
