The two stars is for the friendliness from the hair washer. I went in to see how much and how long it would take to do my hair. I showed the pictures of how I wanted it and they said it will take 2 hours and $250. I made the appointment and I went in. The hairdresser herself was nice and we have a discussion at length about what I wanted. Firstly she cut my hair way to short and secondly the hair did not come anywhere close to where I wanted it. I think her skills were just not there or she seemed rushed because Inbetween she had other clients. In the end she charged me $300 which is fine because I'm aware the price is an estimate but they did see how long and thick my hair was. A cool local hair salon that I've used a few times before. I must say frankly I've never got a haircut here but both my kids have. (Just very loyal to my Chinatown Stylist) Oh I should note, I didn't make an appointment but have been lucky to have little to no wait time each visit. This place is reasonably priced (for kids) considering my neighborhood. I never got the stylist's name but the younger Korean lady with the pretty highlights and red lipstick does a great job with their hair. She's the one to get if you can choose. I've been here to do a wash and blow for a wedding but had the male stylist and while good, he's just not the same caliber as the lady. His vision and mine for the blow out was very different and I had trouble communicating what I wanted. My hair did look fuller and neat but it was not anything special I couldn't have done with a teaser brush or styling comb myself. Anyway, check the price list before committing. What you think is fair and reasonable may be different from my experience. I'm used to Chinatown (lower Manhattan) pricing so anything outside of that is pricier to me. Ha read more

The woman who works here shaved my eyebrows when all I asked for was a haircut. Then she never finished the haircut but insisted she was done. After I washed my hair, it was all uneven but she insisted she was done. This woman should be fired. She doesn't care about your hair and will insist she is right about everything. She will even do things you never asked her to do like shave my eyebrows and then make everything uneven. She is terrible and shouldn't be working as a barber if she is going to do things the customer didn't even ask for. Absolute terrible place and terrible customer service. I've been coming to this salon ever since it's location has been in Flushing, NY. I've always got my cuts from Sharon, but graduated into getting my hair done by Kathy-- who happens to be her daughter!! The talent definitely runs in the family!! Kathy, who takes time to listen to what I want, and executes it so gently and well-- I don't have any complaints and I will most likely be going here for the rest of my life!! I got my hair colored by Kathy and I am in love! I initially showed her some simple examples of what color I wanted my hair but she recommended adding some other colors too. I told her to just take the wheel because I've seen her work and trusted her instincts! I made an appointment a few weeks beforehand because she gets very busy. When I walked in, I immediately got seated and she got to work right away with no wait time. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I got my hair colored in an ash brown color and it took about 7.5 hours. At the end, she dried and curled my hair. She also gave me instructions on how to take care of my hair. I had my hair cut by Chris and colored by Sharon. Chris is a pro with hair styling and had my hair perfectly cut just like the picture I showed him. He gives good input on what he thinks will look good on you as well. Sharon was very sweet and didn't rush. She prioritized the health of my hair and made suggestions during the process to make sure it was damaged as little as possible. There was a miscommunication with my colorist about what I wanted as I decided to get my hair colored last minute. I docked a star because it wasn't quite what I wanted but I can vouch for their skill. It still looks nice, and my hair is still intact and healthy. They kept their masks on the whole time, they check your temperature and make you fill out a form with COVID-related questions before you get started. Things to keep in mind: - Manage your expectations with color. They don't ask a ton of questions, including questions about hair history so OFFER UP THAT INFORMATION CLEARLY so your hair turns out they way you want it. Speak up and be firm. - They take both card and cash but as with most places, credit card comes with a small additional charge. - Their prices are higher end. $40 for a women's haircut (I think they vary their prices by length) and around $350 for color depending on what you want done. I had a lot of bleach and toning going on but for standard color it's less. -They get busy, especially on weekends. It's always a good idea to make an appointment but if you plan of walking in call ahead and see how busy they are first. Overall I think I'll try elsewhere for color, but I had a good experience and their cuts are top notch. read more

Since I moved to the area, I have been going to this salon for over 2 years. The staffs are very friendly and during COVID, the store took very good precautions with face mask and face screens. They made it pretty efficient and stress-free to get a hair cut. For guys, the haircut is a bit pricy at 30 dollars including initial and final washes, which I appreciate a lot. I hate when I feel loose hair in my shirt or back of my neck. The cut itself is great. Very clean and detailed. Pretty much get compliments whenever I do get a trim. I moved to the area and found this local place and decided to give it a try. A few weeks ago I had my first haircut and was very happy. I decided to go back over this weekend to try them for an updo for my nieces wedding. Best decision I ever made. Sharon and her daughter did an absolutely amazing style for me. I showed them the dress I was wearing and they created a style that was so stunning; I had compliments all night at the wedding. I danced all night and my hair stayed perfectly beautiful. I had a picture and hair style in mind and I showed the lady. She said that's fine and made a comment on my hair and just went with it. I told her it was too short and she said my hair was curly so it looked short. Meanwhile she did say she'd cut long and then we can go on from there.... We did not.... So now my hair is really short. My side bangs are SO SHORT and she didn't even later my hair correctly so now I have this little piece of bang in the middle. She cut my hair the way other Korean girls with round faces cut their hair which is NOT what I was going for. I look young as is and now I look even younger. NOT worth $35. I didn't know my hair was really curly on the top but she said she saw that so if she saw that why didn't she cut it longer and then see if it's okay or not. Didn't listen to me at all and insisted I just need to flat iron my hair. She blowed it out, styled and it was fine but then FLAT IRONED EVERYTHING WHEN I SAID IT WAS GUNNA LOOK REALLY FLAT. when I was talking about volume she was saying Japanese straight .... I don't get it. Im only giving this a 3 star because the cut of the hair is decent and my hair will grow out in a month or two thank goodness. The place is clean and the lady is nice but she just doesn't listen to other opinion. Worst salon experience! Went in for a balayage and after spending close to $400 plus a MANDATORY 20% tip my hair looks horrible. I showed them a picture of what i wanted and it's not even close. The back and the front are completely different colors. Even after I let them know and "tried" to fix it, the front/framing part is grey/white/blue tones while the back is blonde/burnt red. Came out with extreme red and sore scalp from how hard they brushed my hair and how rough they scrubbed the toner in to the front parts. Extremely dissatisfied and now have to search for somewhere else to get this fixed. I've had my hair done in so many different places and never had an issue. read more

Foremost this is a Korean hair salon. I get my hair color done by Sharon. She is a sweet Korean lady who really knows asian hair! She is my go to person. She is fluent in Korean with limited English. I have a long hair, and I believe she charged me $160 for cut/blow dry and hair coloring last yr. This time she charged me $80 for the root touch up and cut/blow dry. I don't think it's expensive when you go to a hair expert. She has an assistant who helps her color, wash and blow dry. I highly recommend this place! She doesn't work on Thursdays. More importantly, this place is clean and beautifully decor'd including free wifi. You won't regret it. Make an appointment and let her know what you want to do for an estimated price. Definitely bring a photo for her if you are looking for a specific color/hairstyle. read more

It is always an enjoyable experience coming to this salon. I have recommended this local salon to my family and friends and they have always come back satisfied with the services. First off, I felt so safe coming to my appointment because the staff does an incredible job trying to social distance customers, wear masks, sterilize, and have you fill out a questionnaire. The questionnaire may seem cumbersome; but I found it incredibly reassuring that they are taking extra care and precaution. Secondly, I have a lot of hair and I have always felt self conscious about it and even felt bad towards my hairdressers. They are so kind and so genuine in their service. And most importantly, they listen to what you want. I had asked for a very specific hair colour which I understood would be quite difficult to achieve (deep midnight blue/indigo). Not only did the color come out perfectly, Kathy recommended adding a touch of purple on the tips so the blue could stand out more! There was so much care and attention to detail during this process. The barber laughed at my hair and made the comments on my hair, how bad I didn't make them moisturized, how bad that I dyed it by myself. My mother is 85 and lives a very short walk from this salon. She decided to give the salon a try based on the convenience of the location as she walks with a cane and is unsteady on her feet. Her experience with this salon was disappointing to say the least. She arrived and was met with stony silence. no smiles or conversation, just a hairdresser pointing to a station indicating for her to sit down. The hairdresser did not ask her how she would like her hair styled (or say anything for that matter). My mother explained what she wanted the stylist cut and when done pointed to the counter to pay. When she left no one said goodbye and ignored her sending a very clear and intentional message she had not been welcome. (it was this stylist and another woman- she thinks she was the owner but not sure.). My mom has lived in this neighborhood for all her 85 years and has been nothing but welcoming to new neighbors and businesses arriving along the way. My mom will find a new stylist somewhere close hopefully and will never return of course as it was a very hurtful experience. For the record she thought the haircut was good. The stylists should be ashamed of themselves treating an elderly person in such a rude, unkind manner. Shame on you. read more

This is the ONLY place I'll go to get my hair cut and colored. I've been seeing Sharon for years (~ 15 years?) since the salon was located in Flushing. She knows my hair and what styles and colors complement me best. I've gotten straight perms, highlights, coatings, ombre dyes, long and short haircuts, as well as gotten styled for a wedding here. To start with, I felt comfortable and at ease after seeing all protocols and distancing being met for COVID unlike other salons. I appreciate how clean it was as well. Now for my haircut, I was very nervous because this was the first time I was chopping my long hair OFF!! After showing one reference photo, Sharon was able to give me the hair that I wanted and more. They continued to keep me at ease by answering all my questions and concerns through out the process. I also got a perm but I told them I wasn't sure if the curls might be too much, but sharon and her assistant did the right amount that I wanted and also styled my hair perfectly after. They said styling my hair would be a lot easier to achieve the look I wanted and they were right! I love the wax they used to style my hair, it felt light and wasn't gross on my head at all. I went there and then the guy told me $55 in total (not including tips). I told him that I called on the phone today and was told $35. He told me that if the lady serves you, then it's $35. My service is more expensive. $40 for haircut, and another $15 for the blow dry. Come on! haircut price should include wash, cut, and dry. I didn't want to agrue with him b/c I am eager to go home. I ended up paying $57 b/c I didn't bring enough cash. Still. It is a FRAUD! NEVER GO THERE! They think their customers are STUPID. I told him I just moved here so he thinks I am stupid or what? I was in New York for 13 years. This is the most expensive haircut I have ever had. It is not a proper way of doing business. I would not even want to go there.
