Amazing service. The owner will come in before the shop opens to groom my sketchy dog. The owner will be patient and kind with my dog until she tries to bite her face off. Then she will just muzzle her and finish as quickly as possible. My dog always ends up with a shave, trim, wash and dry. Once we have been able to put bows in her hair. I pay $60 for my chow mix. I don't think they care about vaccinations at all... never been asked. I have to stay with the dog and groomer then entire time but maybe after enough visits I will be able to leave her?! I love that I live so close to so many great things, all within walking distance. This place is added to the list. Scooby-Do's is a family owned business. (I'm the kind of person who goes out of his way to support small and local businesses, even if the prices are a wee bit higher.) I have two beagles that I usually toss in the shower at home when they need it. But after the great experience I had at Scooby-Do's I'll probably take them there from now on. The staff was friendly and clearly love animals. I called ahead and made an appointment. Now both my beagles feel so soft, their coats are shiny, and they smell delicious. (They both got a pretty little red, white and blue bow too!) If there was a breakdown of prices posted somewhere, I didn't see it. They quoted me a price and told me what that included, and the price was reasonable. (Slightly more than I've payed at other big name pet stores, but not by much, a few bucks maybe.) Overall I'm very impressed. Like any dog owner I'm protective and want them to be treated well. I got that feeling here and will be going back. read more

I could not disagree with Amber D more! I have taken all of my dogs to Scooby Do's for the last 9 years and they have always listened to what I have to say! They have allowed me to stay with my oldest dogs throughout the grooming process and are never unkind when I ask for something special. I believe the point is that they do listen and do what is best for the dog- which is not always what the owner wants: a lesson I had to learn the hard way. They treat me like family and baby my dogs just as I do- something I have witnessed firsthand since I stayed nearly the whole day with them. I do not trust just anyone with my dogs and the fact that I trust them with my babies speaks volumes! Edit 2018- they changed owners without informing me when I called to make the appt. I was greeted in a "who are you?" manner and I should've never left my dogs with them once I realized I knew no one there but unfortunately I did. My dogs looked awful! My long hair chihuahua was butchered with a sloppy and choppy haircut. Will never go back based mostly on their lack of transparency. read more

I had never had a problem with them until today when I walked in and no one working was wearing a mask. Another customer then came in who was also not wearing a mask and they did not say anything to her. When I mentioned this to the people working there they told me that they let customers make their own decisions. Not only does this go against the Tempe Mask Ordinance that is in place but it also puts me at danger because they can't be bothered with wearing masks or asking their customers to do the same. I called and explained that she was old and the issues she has and they were very understandingand assured me they could accommodate. My Chihuahua's Ruby & Lucia can be shy, it generally takes them awhile to warm up to people. However, the moment my dogs came into Scooby Do's Grooming they were happy, due impart to a welcoming loving and friendly staff . One of my dogs, a teeny chihuahua named Minnie, is so extremely fearful of nail trims and won't let us do it at home. I get really anxious taking her to a groomer or vet to get nail trims because she might lash out. Michael is so understanding and reassuring that everything will be ok, even if she does try to lash out. Minnie was still very afraid but Michael handled the nail trim like the total pro that he is! We also brought our other pup (Walter) in for the nail trim and he did great as well. Walter isn't all that fearful of nail trims, but he is nervous in new social situations. The nail trim went really well so I expect that each time we bring Walter in, he will be less nervous each time. The prices are also really great compared to some other places. A nail trim is $10 per pup here whereas I recently paid $24 per pup at a nearby Animal Hospital on Hardy Dr down the street (and boy, was that a shocker). I took my two chihuahuas to Scooby-Do's for a nail trim. In the past I have taken them to Petco and Petsmart for grooming and nail trimming. The problem with chain stores is that they have a high volume and I've been turned down for walk-in nail trimming several times. Or, nail trimming is seen as not very important and they do it somewhat grudgingly. Finally, they also have very strict policies about showing rabies vaccination records. If you show the records to one store, but then go to another, it won't work. I know that these rules exist for a reason-- and my dogs are always current on their shots-- but, it's seriously a pain the butt sometimes to carry the records around with you. I'm never organized enough to have them when I need them (this is more a comment about myself than the groomers...I digress....) It just seems to me to be a little too strict to absolutely insist on a rabies vaccination record for a healthy chihuahua for a nail trim. I mean, does the dog look rabid? Do I look like I would be hanging out with a rabid dog? I know, I know...you never know. ANYWAYS, long story short: I walked into Scooby-Do's with the vaccination records (I actually remembered them!), but without an appointment. They didn't ask me for the records (they might if you do the full grooming). They immediately accepted the walk-in even though they had other dogs that they were working on. The staff was super friendly and seemed to love dogs. While I was there 3 more chihuahuas came into the shop! They let me hold my dogs while their nails were trimmed. She did a great job-- really fast and painless. I will definitely be coming back! read more

It was over 5 YS ago when I first found this place. My dog was less than 6 month old and kept getting dirty and hair had been matted due to his curiousness of the world and penchant for play. I had no knowledge about groomers before I got him (he is a mini. schnauzer) because he is my first dog. But I noticed that whenever I took him to different groomers every single time to he came home with bleeding nails & that powder on it they use to stop the bleeding, also his nails weren't filed down after they cut them, so nails were keep getting to the carpet. not only that, a lot of times, every groomer I had, doesn't matter how expensive or professional they say they are, including groomers that who says they groom champion dogs, my dogs hair on his back has groomed choppy instead of smooth like how schnauzer hair cut should be. I used to get so frustrated. I found scooby doo grooming in the yellow pages online. and that was the only place I have not taken to during that time in Tempe, therefore I gave it a try. The result was more than a surprise! My dog seemed SO HAPPY that I have never seen him like that. Also he looked very champion like hair cut & no nail bleeding. The owner was KNOWLEDGEABLE. I had many intense questions, yet they were very helpful and love to share many HELPFUL TIPS with me. They are SO NICE & HUGE DOG LOVERS!! I went everywhere in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, and Mesa. and they are by far THE BEST IN PRICE for QUALITY & SERVICE they do! Yes, there are groomers who charge less. However, that does not mean you get decent service or quality even though it really is a few dollars difference. read more

I've been going to Scooby-Do's for 10 years and Valerie and the staff has kept all of my babies looking amazing, Bella, Bruiser, Nip NIp and Toby. Val is a whiz with the nail clippers with an anxious dog (Toby) and before he had time to get stressed, he was clipped and being loved on. This is the first groom I've taken my two Scotties to scooby do's and my last. The groomer sounded very excited and won me over by her excitement on the phone to bring my dogs here. She quoted me $36 and charged me $46 each. When they were done one of my dogs was groomed okay the other was not. He was feathery, had layers and had noticeably different lengths on his belly. The new owners are awesome! They took care of my pups. And the groom was fantastic. We will be back and are letting everyone know that is looking for a new groomer! read more

This is the third time I've taken my dog Pepper to get groomed there. This time I showed up a little bit early and Pepper wasn't quite ready for his debut. Mrs. Loretta was talking to Pepper to keep him calm. She was super patient with him and he was like putty in her hands. She did an amazing job.
