We had a great experience with Scootaround this holiday season. My mom truly enjoyed using the scooter, and it made a world of difference for her ability to comfortably navigate through the park. It gave her independence, ease, and peace of mind, which meant everything to our family. The scooter itself was reliable and extremely helpful overall. However, there was one incident where the scooter would not start back up and showed four blinking red lights, even though the battery was at 77%. My fiancé and I had to manually move it to a charging area within the park, and we were a bit stumped as to why it stopped working at that time. The only other suggestion I would offer is to make the horn louder, as it was very faint and sometimes hard for others to notice when she needed a clear path. It would also be helpful if the light had a flashing option instead of remaining solid, to better alert people nearby. I also really appreciated how accommodating the hotel was in accepting the scooter delivery from Scootaround and coordinating pickup through the front desk. That level of coordination made our travel experience so much easier and stress-free. Pretty sketchy. Seems like you're dealing with some offshore company with the emails and phone calls. Chair did not come with an operating manual that they promised. They never communicated when they dropped it off. First week went well. The equipment was fine. We then transferred resorts and picked up another chair which was supposed to be the same. This was the most beat up piece of crap I've ever seen! The joystick came off in my hand. It creaked and groaned with every motion. Every light lens was busted out. I kid you not. I rented a wheelchair for my wife--who is recovering from an injury--so that she could be included in our family's sightseeing plans during a vacation in Washington, DC. What should have been a straightforward process turned into a frustrating and disruptive ordeal that significantly impacted our trip. I reserved and prepaid for the wheelchair weeks in advance, including an additional delivery fee to have it brought to the home we were staying at. I provided the exact address during the booking process. Then, just days before the trip, I received a call informing me that they could not deliver to that address after all, and I would now need to pick it up myself from their warehouse. Though they refunded the delivery fee, I had to completely adjust our itinerary and eliminate several planned activities as a result. That alone was an inconvenience, but unfortunately, it didn't stop there. After using the wheelchair for one day without issue, the seat portion accidentally fell out of our SUV and broke an arm when it hit the ground. I immediately contacted the company and was told they had no replacement units available. I completely understood that the damage was my responsibility and had even paid for the insurance, but the deductible of $250 on top of the $66 insurance fee feels excessive for a single broken armrest. They then asked me to return the damaged chair that same day, which meant sitting in traffic for over 90 minutes and canceling yet another day's worth of vacation plans. When I arrived, I had to coordinate closely just to meet the only employee at the warehouse. I was so exhausted and frustrated by the entire process that I simply left the broken chair and declined a replacement. That meant that for the remaining days of our trip, my wife had to miss out entirely on our plans--something we had tried so hard to avoid in the first place. Now, despite having the chair back in their possession, they have repeatedly called and messaged me as if I still have it--even after charging my card for the deductible. On top of it all, they refuse to refund me for the days we did not have use of the wheelchair. I was referred to scootaround by another company that says they were the recommended mobility company particularly providing scooters approved for cruise line ships. The initial male sales representative was patient and helpful while I provided my credit card info. However, it was a completely different tone when we had some issues and dealt with a different representative. The first issue was with disassembling and having a problem placing it in the back of our rideshare vehicles. I kept being sent a "YouTube video" that did not address the issue we were experiencing. Thankfully, a bystander helped us out after hanging up with the male representative who was short and seemed annoyed with the call. The second issue came upon arrival at Dolphin Swan Hotel, we realized they were two separate hotels on the same property and had two different entrances and drop-off concierge locations. Since I could not walk that distance, I called several hours before pick-up time and asked if the driver would kindly pick up the scooter at the Swan entrance and not the Dolphin entrance saving me the need to find a way to and from the Swan. The representative said 4-hrs was too short notice the same day and I'd better figure out how to get the scooter to the other side of the hotel by the time agreed upon. He never even tried to locate the driver to see if he'd help me. He was not only rude but unempathetic, I would no longer recommend them at this point. The scooter itself was an older model, it barely fit in the cabin, and each armrest brushed the sides of the cabin door. Try to get an available accessibility room for the best ease of use. Beware!!! We rented one on Carnival Jubilee on Valentines day from Galveston. Paid 5 day rental. Got on the boat. Next day wouldn't hold a charge! Went to guess services. They said it's a 3rd party company and they couldn't do anything. We got off the boat and turned it in and told the associate with scootaround. She said they would not the account. But couldn't refund any $$ But would give use a discount on our next rental. Called to rent one for our Cruise thus Saturday. And basically was told they couldn't do anything!!! Delivery and pick up were prompt and in the time frames I requested. Transporting the scooter to and from Disney World was a struggle because i was told it could fold (which it did) and was to be able to fit in a standard trunk (not so) we had to rent a minivan and stow the back row seats. I had power issues the minute I boarded the ship and I called immediately from the ships purse desk. They did not bring me another scooter. I had to keep charging it every 2 hours just to go anywhere. I missed alot on my week cruise and so did my husband. His held a charge maybe 2 hours. I have rented before and had a minor problem once. Hopefully this review (along with all the other negative reviews this company has received) will prevent someone else from experiencing the same horrible service that I did. I rented a mobility scooter in November for a trip to WDW. I had used the company previously and been satisfied. Previously, they were able to drop off the scooter with the hotel front desk and it could be picked up upon arrival. So, I made the recent reservation and the full amount for the 5 day rental. Later, I received an email that they no longer can drop off the scooter and I had to be there to meet them. Which was a problem, because I was arriving after the time frame for delivery, so I would have to wait until the next day and the earliest time they could deliver was 1 pm. Mind you, it doesnt mention this change in policy anywhere on their website, otherwise I would have chosen a different company. So, I had to change the length of my scooter rental, which of course decreased the cost of the rental. However, they had already charged by credit card and have refused to give me a refund for the over-charge. Instead, they have offered me a "credit" for future use. Which I will never use, because their company has the worst customer service I've dealt with in a long time. I've called several times and they refuse to refund the money they owe me. My grandmother and my mom came to visit from North Carolina. My grandma had a fall before she arrived and once I saw her, it was clear that she would be uncomfortable walking around. I looked up wheelchair rentals in the area and found this business. The people I spoke with on the phone were very pleasant and made the process of booking a rental wheelchair easy. They delivered the wheelchair to the hotel in which my mom and grandma were staying. I even called to extend the reservation and had no issues doing so and found the price for the rental to be very reasonable. The wheelchair was in good condition and helped us make sure my grandma could have a good time without trying to walk around while she was in pain. I see from prior reviews that have had issues using this company, but we had no issues and based on my experience, I'd recommend them. read more

I need to rent 2 scooters for my wife and I at the 2023 Florida RV Super Show on 01-22-2023. All my information was collected for my wife and me. At the point I was asked how I was going to pay for the rental I said Master Card, she representative said "just one moment I'm bring up the screen" then it went to the survey, I gave a 5 because everything up until that point was great, then the call got disconnected. As of 11:06 I have not received a call back. Now I wish I responded to the survey with a 1. My file number is XXXXXX. Scooterroud does not maintain equipment, charges extra fees, even if it is their equipment that is faulty, has ridiculous scooter pick up times, and for many locations requires you the patron to be present when scooter is returned. We did not have the greatest experience with Scootround. The scooter that we ordered for my dad to take on our cruise was promptly dropped off at our hotel and everything appeared to be good. The issue came up while we were on the cruise and that we were given a scooter with a bad battery. It would charge fully and then deplete within about 5 to 10 minutes of scootering. We ended up having to push my dad through the hallways of the ship until several days later when we got a replacement battery. Luckily carnival cruises was able to give us a loner wheelchair and after we got the battery it seemed to work just fine. Their customer service was great and refunded us for the days that the scooter was inoperable. I would probably use them again however I think I would stick with a wheelchair as opposed to a scooter. My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star rating is terrible read more

We rented two scooters for our cruise out of Port Canaveral. The staff appeared to be very young which is fine but they were not the least bit trained or experienced in dealing with people with disabilities. The scooters were filthy when we picked them up, it was obvious they were not cleaned or sanitized between customers. Considering Covid & Flu are common on cruise ships, this is unacceptable. Luckily we brought our own sanitary wipes, although they still needed a good cleaning, there was food and debris on the foot platforms and in the baskets. One of the scooters had a broken arm which we had to insist on being replaced before we would take it as this would cause further pain & being uncomfortable throughout our cruise. They replaced it but did it with a bad attitude like we were being a burden. We were the only customers there so it wasnt like they were too busy to help us. We asked for operation instructions as this was the first time we rented from Scootaround and were not familiar with these scooters. All they told us was how to make them go forward and backwards and how to charge them. We asked for a manual but they didn't have one. We were never "fitted" for these scooters which is necessary to be comfortable, the same as fitting you for crutches. Because they didn't do a fitting or even mention they could be adjusted we assumed that we were stuck with them in the position they were in upon pickup. On day 5 of our 7 day cruise we talked to another scooter operator on board who showed us how to adjust the seat and reach. By this time my traveling companion was in pain from having to reach so far to grasp the steering and was able to adjust it but this was too late. I would have liked to adjust mine as well but the knob was too tight & I was not strong enough to move it. In addition, we had been riding around on deck at night and it was dark & never knew it had a headlight. Its tucked under the basket so unless you get up under it & look, you'll never see it. Our disabilities don't allow us to get in those kind of positions or make adjustments on our own which is why we feel they should "fit" you for the scooter upon pickup. As a result we suffered unnecessary pain throughout our vacation and afterward. The scooters did work well, however the rear fenders kept falling off & we had to keep stopping, picking them up, and putting them back on, bending in ways to do this that we medically should not do. One scooter did not hold a charge for as long as the other and the other one never indicated when the battery was running low. It went from fully charged in the green to 1 bar in the red and nothing in between. It was very stressful wondering if we would make it back to our room before it died even though we charged it each night. When we returned to Port and disembarked, 2 young men started chasing us around claiming to be from Scootaround. My travel companion was a few feet behind me as we were following the porter with our luggage & he was asking her a bunch of questions she couldn't answer because I was the one who rented the scooters. We were already very stressed out from the disembarking process & finding help with our luggage & this stressed her out even more. It felt like they were vultures swooping down on us to get their scooters back before we were done with them. We assumed we would return them to the same area we picked them up & were never told that this would happen. It turned out to be a good thing, they followed us to our car and took them back for us but customers need to know this is going to happen in advance. Because of being rushed at the end, we left 2 drink holders we had purchased and put on the scooters ourselves. We had to buy our own, when we tried to rent them from Scootaround, they didn't have any available. The day after returning home I wrote an email to the only contact they give on their website info@scootaround.com and told them everything I've written here. I received a rude and standardized reply from "Cassandra", no last name, basically stating it was my fault for not calling them with questions or issues while on my cruise. Like most, I have no phone service while on board & I asked questions and they were not answered by the customer service "kids" at the rental area at the port when I picked them up. How was I to know about the adjustments to fit the scooter properly, the headlight, etc? This is poor customer service and a lack of knowledge regarding servicing disabled people, which may I add, is the business they are in! Cassandra's response was rude & uncaring so I am posting my experience everywhere I can to warn others. I've used Scootaround twice. The first rental was 2 portable scooters, which one malfunctioned multiple times and we had the hardest time taking the seat off. This review is really about mt latest rental. I rented a portable scooter for my 86 yr old mom for a Mother's day event on Sunday May 8th. I asked for it to be delivered to the Huntington library and Botanical gardens. They couldn't deliver to the event, so I had it delivered to my mom's house. I had asked for the same portable scooter from my first rental. The girl knew I needed a portable scooter, she knew they couldn't deliver to the event and that it would need to be transported. Unfortunately they delivered a non portable scooter, which we were unable to use. I paid for a scooter from Friday to Sunday to sit in my mom's house and not be used. I made 4 separate calls to request a refund or credit for a future rental and kept being told that a Manager would call be back. I finally received a call on June 9th, in which they stated the refund was denied. This experience was awful and Scootaround has lost what was going to be a loyal rental customer. I will be sharing this bad experience with folks who want to rent or own their own scooter. read more

This is going to be a lengthy post, so I apologize in advance. If you are a friend or an associate of mind, you will know that I am a very nice and positive person. However, when I have a bad experience with a business or service provider, I will make it known to as many friends and associates as I possibly can and will request you share my experience if considering doing business with a particular provider. I was diagnosed with ALS/Lou Gehrig's/Motor Neuron Disease in July 2017. My progression has been considered slow, but my physical abilities have become quite limited. Since I have a fatal disease with life expectancy of 2 to 5 years after diagnosis, I am trying to cross-off as many "bucket list" items I possibly can achieve. This week, traveling to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon was one of my must-do trips. I contacted Scootaround Mobility to reserve a powered (motorized) wheelchair (PWC) as advertised on their website. The reservation included delivery of the PWC to our hotel in Williams, AZ on Sunday, July 14th, the day of our check-in with pick-up on Thursday, July 18th at an approximate cost of $475. My credit card was billed within 5 minutes of my phone reservation made through the Scootaround Mobility sales contact. The PWC was never delivered and after several contacts with Scootaround Mobility, they apologized that they could not fulfill the service as promised. Needless to say, I was very limited in my ability to get around this past week during our vacation and had to rely on family members to lift me out of chairs and onto/off buses when it wasn't necessary if I had a PWC. Scootaround Mobility has offered a full refund, but it is their policy that the refund will take 5 to 10 business days to complete the task. So, I am extremely frustrated that one, I didn't receive the service that I was promised and charged and two, I have not received my refund due to an unacceptable business policy of taking 5 to 10 days by Scootaround Mobility to refund charges for services not provided. To all fellow disabled friends and associates, please beware when considering this company for your mobility needs when traveling. read more

Wish I could put zero stars but I can't. Rented this on Saturday took it to Disney on Sunday at 10 AM. By noon it was broken. Called them six times they kept telling me to charge the battery I have pictures showing that the battery was on full charge. We spent our day at Disney pushing the scooter. around because it would not work had to get a wheelchair and my grandson pushed me and my son-in-law push the scooter. When they came to pick it up it did the same thing on them with a full charge. Had to rent another scooter the day afterwards. .Rented from another company of course. Since Scootaround has had me on hold for half an hour, I figured I would write a review while wasting my morning on hold. The scooter for my trip was delivered on time, and worked OK (controls were a little wonky, so I didn't have smooth movement). But they were supposed to come yesterday between 4-6 pm to pick it up. Mind you, from our home, the same place they had dropped it off. I was hanging.on to my phone from 3:30 to 6:30 pm. No call, no pickup person. I tried the national (Orlando-based) number at 5:30 , because I was getting concerned. That is 8:30 in Orlando, and their message said they close at 6 pm on Sunday. I called.the local number, no answer no callback. So at 7:30 this morning, after.being up late unpacking, I am woken up by a VERY strident caller from Scootaround, demanding to know why we never allowed.pick up yesterday!! She also demanded we.stick around this afternoon, to wait for the pickup person. I replied that would have.to be before 11 am, vecause we've been away 2 weeks and have doctor appointments and other errands today. She starts shouting at me about how irresponsible we were to not be around yesterday; and how we MUST wait for a later.pickup today. Quite a shock, when I was expecting an apology and a polite discussion of a rescheduled.pickup! This rude rep starts yelling at me about how it was our responsibility to BE THERE. I tried to explain that I had left a note with our community's gate guard, authorizing entrance to the pickup person. I had tried the local number. I had tried the national number, but it was 8:30 in Florida and they were closed. This harpie claims they are open until 9 pm on Sundays, so I flat out called her a liar; and.told her the pickup person had lied to them as well. She hung up on me. I checked my phone records, no calls from the local pickup number. I have.called the number repeatedly today...no answer, no callback. I have.checked with the guard gate...no record.of anyone coming to pick up anything at.our address, from 3:30-6:30 yesterday (our guard gate keeps a log of every non-resident driver who enters). So, now almost 50 minutes. Still on hold. I am going to speculate that local inventory hasn't been much in demand, so the local person who rents these scooters blew us off; and lied to the company. Then they get another $50 reschedule fee; and $40 more for each extra day of rental. I was reluctant to use Scootaround, because their poor maintenance and poor delivery reviews. However, they were the only company whose insurance let me take the scooter on a multistate trip. Lesson learned; I will be buying my own scooter. I have always used scootaround for my cruises however the last time was a horrible experience. Imagine getting off the ship and the scooter breakdown on an excursion and Yes it was charged overnight. Here we are trying to return to the ship only to have the scooter cut off about a mile from the ship. I called only to be told to put the scooter in neutral and walk it back to the ship. I am a 63 year old senior with a lung and heart disease so thank God my son and several other guest assisted with my return. After that I was afraid to leave the ship so I stayed aboard the rest of the cruise. I was told that they would change out the scooter once I return but that never happened. Although I appreciate the ability to have these services some type of compensation or discount should have been provided. My trip was in August and I have since left messages, spoke to several reps and sent email with no resolution. Its disturbing that no one has reach out to address this matter. Two days before boarding we called and double confirmed that all was good and the chair would be delivered. Boarded the ship and low and behold..no chair. They say that they forgot to deliver it and that they now have no chairs available. Offered us a refund but told us there is nothing they could do.
