I really like Scooter's and I'm thankful that they are here in Eau Claire. I've had the honor of seeing a drag show here and it was phenomenal. All of the gals were on point, fierce and majorly talented. (Seriously, teach me your make-up skills!) The bartenders are always super kind, and during karaoke nights, I enjoy seeing the bartenders take part in singing along with the other patrons. I've never had a bad night here, there seldom seems to be any sort of arguments or unhappiness, everyone is just out to have a good time. The smoking area in the back is nice and open and the interior of the bar has a lot of room. Scooter's is a fantastic place and I hope they stay open for a long time! read more

$7 cover for a table that couldn't be wiped off ! Place needs servers and a well station .

The bouncers here do not understand consent. Stay clear of them. I've had bouncers also enforce gendered restrooms despite being a queer bar. Good for dancing after a drag show but overall the owner needs to put some serious love and money into this place for it to be a safe space and a fun place. Outside patio is nice for smokers. I have given Scooter's many chances to give me a good impression. At best it is a lackluster version of a club in SouthEastern Wisconsin called LaCage, but without the charm or class. At it's worst it seems to be a favorite haunt for the circus sideshow freaks and ne'er-do-wells that can't seem to find a home anywhere else in the city. "We gays will dare to go anywhere I suppose, even if it is scraping the bottom of a crack pipe or meth mirror, to give a hetero a quickie in the parking lot." I digress. I have only received, what I would call, good service from two of the bar tenders. A nice fun young lady and middle aged man. The first time I ever stepped foot in Scooter's and sat at the bar a tired queen was tending bar who completely ignored me for at least 20 minutes while I sat there with money in hand. And to this day any time I go to there when he is behind the bar I cant get served with any sort of sense of customer service. I wait and wait and wait and wait and wait while he chats everyone up many of whom came up to the bar after I had been there. I can't get a simple answer to a simple question; i.e. "do you have any flavoured Absoluts?" "yes" .... now normally a good bartender would generally list what flavors the bar carries, since most bars don't carry ALL the flavors of Absolut. but he didn't so I asked "well which flavors do you have?" "There are a lot of them," UGH! WTF! needless to say that was my last interaction with him for the night. previous to this I asked him to make a pretty standard COCKTAIL and he had no clue as to what it was, so I had to tell him, he then proceeded to serve it to me WARM, UNMIXED, and IN PLASTIC. GOOD GRIEF! My experiences with the rest of the staff haven't been this awful, but they certainly haven't been stellar. The atmosphere at Scooter's which you may have guessed, isn't all that glamorous. The bar stools are uncomfortable, The dance floor is caged in by a wooden fence reminiscent of the last days of square. The decor is all just kind of mix and unmatched with a hint of gay hoarder. The flat screen TVs seem to only work when they want to, when they aren't the images just flip a la your grandparents tube TV connected to an antenna. The crowd is full of brooding queers and their hags, that probably couldn't make it in a real city if they tried. The dykes seem to have an odd hierarchy that I haven't been able to decipher just yet. though they do seem to have fun. Then there's the closet gays.... oh dear me. I guess being in the Great North Woods will lead to being in the closet, but good Lord. There always just seems to be this odd stench of fear and aura of uncomfortable filling the room, like someone's maniacal wife is going to come plowing through the front door guns a blazing. The entertainment is very minimal. I am not sure how many DJs they have, but the one I have seen, must get by on his looks. he certainly isn't a very good DJ. and the music is typical gay gay, but with a twist. I dunno. It's like one good song for every eighteen bad songs. Not to mention the AWFUL sound system, which seems as though someone blew it out some time in the 90's and they haven't replaced it. And don't get me started on the drag queens, I guess living in the Great North Woods and being so far removed from the real world one forgets what a woman actually looks like. or that orange and brown and pale white don't match at the neck and chin. Overall I guess it's better than nothing, but if like me you have been to a gay bar somewhere other than Tennessee in the 70's you may find yourself a little disappointed. I do not fault the uneducated clientele however, I do place blame with the proprietors for not providing an environment that is en par with other establishments of its nature across this great country of ours. read more

Out on a Saturday night with friends and someone suggested going here. I was told this was the "gay bar" in Eau Claire. Honestly, I wouldn't of noticed, but there were a couple of pride flags hanging up. Mostly domestic beers on tap, but they did have Spotted Cow (one of my favorite beers). I wasn't thrilled though paying $3 for it in a 10 oz plastic cup...not much I could have done about that. The fun part of the night was the drag show. It was a $3 cover charge which was fine. It was very entertaining seeing the ladies dance and sing a long to songs. The bar was packed when it started and everyone seemed to have a good time. When the drag show was over, the dance stage was covered by dancing feet as music was blasting and people were enjoying themselves. Another downside is they have single stall bathrooms, which were kind of nasty, and there was a line the whole night. Overall it was a pretty fun time. read more

I've been to this bar on a few different occasions. The first time I was a little bit put off going knowing that it's a "gay bar" but after a few minutes of being here I began to relax. The atmosphere is great! The dance floor is fun, with lights and there a been a DJ there each weekend I've been. Everyone is super laid back and having a great time. Even my boyfriend likes to go with me! At least this bar isn't full of a whole bunch of "bro-dudes" and girls from Jersey Shore like Water Street. Most of the people I've met here are super down to earth, gay or straight ;) read more

It's a good bar. Probably one of the nicer ones in town. There is was a lot of older people and not any women. Everyone seemed nice but not really willing to strike up conversation. I will be returning again, hopefully some younger people will be there next time. read more

The location is fine, though it can be difficult to move around inside due to the narrow space between the stage and the bar; it acts like a bottleneck, preventing people from passing from one side of the bar to the other when it's crowded. What really sucks is the audio system - the audio is distorted, particularly when someone is talking into a microphone, so you can't understand half of what they say. The owners really need to invest a little in their audio system. Also, beefing up the air conditioning would be a worthwhile investment, as even with the doors open at each end, it gets horrendously hot inside. read more
