Downtown Bentonville certainly is a burgeoning place, and there are any number of spots in which you can quench your thirst or grab a bite to eat. If you want a respite from the hustle of Central St. and something to refresh you, then Scotch & Soda is your jam. There is a method to the dim lighting, but that is not to hide the myriad of choices that you have from behind the bar. Top shelf liquor lines, well, the top shelf, with an old-style rail ladder moving right to left. It's kind of a cool touch and certainly makes the eyes wander up to see what high-end liquors are living at the top. Not to be outdone is the menu of what's on tap, ranging from everyday brands to local Arkansas craft beer. This visit had us finding a blueberry lager from Abita (yo, NOLA) which made my wife ever-so-happy and a local hazy for me. Both were emblematic of the environment: relaxed, cool, and fresh. The menu of noshables isn't huge but Scotch & Soda's slider game is legit. Pro tip: even if you don't get down with 'veggie burgers', the Ben's Beans sliders are not to be missed. Absolutely smashing flavor, not heavy, complemented just right with its condiments, a winner all the way around. The Dill Pickle Fries are good, not great, but up against a flight of sliders they are solid companions. Seating is good, either at the bar or alongside the alley-thin room, but in nice weather, the front garage can be opened to allow for that indoor/outdoor experience. The scotch for the most part, was on point. But definitely stay away from the "Dealers Choice". The two shots not only wreaked of dish soap, but even more tasted like dish soap going all the way down. It left that aftertaste for over an hour in our gullets. We had to leave and dine somewhere else. The waitress called it an artichoke liqueur. I guarantee it was more a dish soap, liqueur. And that's not trying to be funny whatsoever. Also, the sour beer they served tasted like they dropped a cup of salt in it. Don't think I'll be back. read more

Very fun spot to hang out in downtown Bentonville. My friends and I walked here from where we had dinner and it was a great way to end the night. It was pretty full on the Friday night we went so fortunately they have outside seating as well. Service was great and their cocktails are original, creative, and delicious. read more

Popped in here for some drinks after dinner and we were pretty happy with how quickly we were sat. We were a table of 5. The server was great, and we ended up coming back here 3 more times during our 10 day trip. the ambiance in the place is super cute and comfortable- it's not too loud for being a bar and i found that most people were relatively friendly. our last night here the server had suggested a different drink that mo colleague didn't like at all (it was too smokey for them) and upon telling her how they felt, she was super apologetic and had another drink brought out for them right away. definitely a recommendation to check it out if you're visiting the town! read more

This was my first time at Scotch & Soda and I was impressed! The Bentonville square has come a long way in the last 10 years, they have some really cool bars here now. I love the vibe of this bar with the exposed brick walls, dark lighting, and alcohol display case that looks more like a library (complete with a sliding ladder to reach higher shelves). They have an extensive cocktail list including classics, standards, and new/improved. Their spirit list menu is incredibly long, we couldn't get over how many options there were! Prices were pretty typical for cocktails, I went with the Midnight Rendezvous for $13. It contained floral gin and black cherry juice which made for a great cocktail. My friend got the Three Sheets which she really liked, it came with whipped cream on top! My husband chose a particular whiskey that he wanted to try and was given several options of how it could be served. This place gets busy on weekends, but it's a great place to stop for a drink if you're able to snag a table! It's super close to the square, we enjoyed walking down to see the Christmas lights afterwards. I'll plan to return next time I'm back in NWA! read more

We had just had some heavier drinks and appetizers at the previous restaurant that we wanted something to cleanse our pallet. For those new to scotches, the staff takes their time in answering any questions one may have. For the casual visitor, S&S serves as an excellent (and classy) place to go for drinks. Pro-tip: Make sure to sign up for their (free) challenge. Drink 100 scotches off their list and you'll get a discount there FOR life. It was such a nice day that the place had their garage-door windows open out front. We peeked in and decided to settle here for an early lunch. The bartender told us they had recently just started opening for lunch. It was apparent word had not gotten out yet b/c the place was deserted. Service was good and the bartender shared the dinner menu with us and invited us back. I didn't try any cocktails b/c it was so early but the ice in my tea was definitely hand chipped! We tried the salad with skirt steak and pork belly banh-mi. The salad was full of interesting ingredients like brocolli florets, pickled beets and garbanzo beans. The steak was perfectly cooked. After being in Bentonville for about 5 minutes, I headed over to Scotch & Soda to meet my dear colleague and Northwest Arkansas Yelp Community Ambassador, Summer C. With it's adorable downtown square and quaint residential and business neighborhood, I was already thoroughly enjoying my experience in Bentonville, so I wasn't too surprised that Scotch & Soda met my expectations of loveliness. Flanking the the downtown square - home to the original Walton's Five and Dime - Scotch & Soda has a warm, dark, and inviting interior that serves as an intriguing juxtaposition to the sunny, 1950's soda-pop-style of the main square. There's seating along their exposed brick wall, along the bar that boasts a floor-to-ceiling bar full of a large variety of spirits, and an awesome area to sit indoors while enjoying a quasi-patio scene with a window opened up to the outdoor hustle and bustle. Overwhelmed by the large original concoctions available, I just went with one on a whim and chose the Lucky Kitty. A tad worried it would be an over-consuming flavor of Sake, I was pleasantly surprised at first sip that it was refreshing and delightful as it was beautiful. Scotch & Soda. I went in with no expectations and you met most of them. My friend Heather S. after suggesting Bike Rack Brewing Co mentioned that she also worked at Scotch & Soda. This is where the adventure to your solemn grounds began. My lovely and I arrived and other than an unassuming Top Hat and a chalk board outside you wouldn't know that S&S was there. It's low key and subdued nature would continue on into the restaurant. On this night and I'll assume many others there was no one to seat but we were greeted swiftly by the house. All as we grabbed our menus and made our way to find a table amongst the dark and cool ambiance of S&S. Waters dropped and obligatory server greetings made we put in our drink orders. A "White Lady" for my lady and a "Negroni" for myself. The menu is short and sweet. Lacking clutter and offering you a few options that are also extravagant and basic at the same time. We went with the Braised Lamb Leg for two accompanied by the Red Fingerling Potatoes. It was great. So great. It wouldn't be a true experience I feel without imbibing an actual scotch off of their wall of many spirits. I wanted to order something familiar. I saw the Bruichladdich Palin Laddy on the listing but due to some complications (an old menu) it wouldn't be had on this evening. So I found a different Bruichladdich but it wasn't the same. The best part of all this is the only negative I have is the fact that they didn't have the one rando Scotch I enjoy. Not a big deal in my book and I'm sure another's because there's a large assortment to be had on their giant wall of spirits. This place has a great vibe and selection, but some buddies and I went here for Happy Hour. One guy was served a cracked glass that literally broke while he was drinking it. The server didn't apologize or offer him a new drink. I ordered an extra dirty martini and she served what looked like straight vodka. Although I appreciated the extra vodka, I asked her about the "extra dirty" in the "extra dirty martini", she just gave me some olive juice to pour into the drink.
