Last week 7/23/23, I went to the location on King St. in Alexandria, Virginia. I purchased a whole chicken, chips, and Buffalo Stampede mix nuts. They are in a dispenser that is self served. I was disappointed. They were stale. Thankfully, I only purchased $3.30 worth of nuts at $9.99 a pound. I purchased nuts from the dispensaries in the past and they were great.

A few workers greeted me as I was browsing through the aisles, which I loved. Trader Joe's always has top tier customer service. All of their Fall items were out and if you are a Pumpkin fan, they have an array of Pumpkin flavored items. My favorite area is the Frozen Food section. You can always find something for everyone in that aisle lol. I grabbed a few staple items that my daughter loves, like the Mandarin Orange Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice and Butter Chicken. As I checked out, I had such a great conversation with the associate. I always have such a pleasant experience at Trader Joe's. Having this location in the heart of Town Center is perfect and I know I'll be back for sure.

I like the fact that they have new barrier doors by the entrance and exit to prevent shoplifting. In the self check-out area, one must scan their receipt to exit. The light will go from blue to green for a successful scanned receipt. My concern is that the parking lot is very dark at night. Not one parking lot light is on. The light from the supermarket barely illuminates the entire lot. One must be careful and mindful when walking through the lot alone.

They had Popcorn flavor, along with Carbonara and Chipotle. I grabbed the Carbonara to try out and continued to browse through the store. The International aisle had quite a few different Asian noodles options. I was surprised to find Baklava lol. My daughter loves Baklava so she grabbed the assortment box. Every aisle included something different and unique, which makes this grocery store stand out. I love that it was very clean as well. The staff were very friendly and the checkout process was quick and easy. If you're in the area, definitely stop in, you might be surprised at what you find.

They are a standalone building, but is near to the Parkway Plaza Shopping Center, so they would be hard to miss. My most recent visit here was on April 5, 2026. I made an attempt to come in on the opening day in the afternoon, but there was no parking available, so I would wait until the following day to come in. It was still busy on March 13, 2026, but it wasn't as crazy as it was on opening day. The building looks big from the outside, but it isn't that much different from a regular grocery store. When I came in on the first visit, the place was pretty busy. There was staff helping everyone set up their accounts on their phone app. I had done it beforehand, so I didn't have to wait for that. I was speaking with one of the managers and found out this Virginia Beach location is also their regional hub. My mom was with me on this visit too, as she also wanted to see what it was all about. They do have a good amount of stables, and they have several items that are their own brand. There are brand name items and such, along with limited vegetable and fruit options. When looking at the stuff here, be sure to check the dates on them. Some of the items will be close to their use by date. They do have options for many different food types, but I am sure they could change from time to time. The feel overall for me so far has been that it's like Ollie's Bargain Outlet, but for grocery type items instead, while Ollie's has other stuff to choose from. They have a rewards program, so if you spend $150 or more or make at least three trips with a purchase, you can unlock their Wow! Insider program, which offers even more discounts for select items. It is valid for 30 days, but if you keep the pattern going, you can continue to be a Wow! Insider. On the most recent visit, my mom and I came in to get some items that they had on special. They had 93% lean ground beef for $3.99 per pound (each container was one pound) and dozen eggs on sale for $0.99. We did get a few other needed items, but it wasn't a large purchase that day. Overall, they are a good place to find your grocery stables. However, you will likely need to complement that trip to another place to get everything you may be looking for. They continually provide ads for what's on sale and available at that time. With it being a bargain market, don't expect to see everything you saw on a previous visit. Although they show what the savings could be compared to other stores, I did notice that they aren't completely correct. I'm guessing they were using national average cost data for such items. If you are looking to find some grocery items on the lower priced side, this place is worth checking out, but be sure to compare to their competitors too.
