    My wife and I came here on 12/18 with an appointment at 4:45 PM to change my wife's last name to…read moremine. We came handy with our marriage license, her birth certificate, and the name change document that is required by the DMV as well as her new Social Security card showing her new last name that was changed weeks prior. Unfortunately, the only thing that we did not have was her existing drivers license with her maiden name that was lost days before our appointment with AAA. Upon arriving 15 minutes before close but again with a reservation for the last possible appointment of the day, which was at 4:45 PM, the representative was hesitant to assist us with ordering a replacement license showing her new last name because we didn't have her existing drivers license ... although we had every other supporting document, including a photo of her existing license as well to corroborate. She then asked a Manager for assistance who explained that they could not assist us with ordering the new replacement license, because we did not have her existing ID Instead this Manager told us we needed to visit the DMV website, order a new replacement license for the one that was lost, wait for that to arrive in the mail and then we would be able to come in after making another appointment and use that existing license to order a replacement license with her new last name. It made absolutely zero sense to me why they were making us jump through hurdles when AAA itself can assist in ordering replacement driver licenses for lost or stolen, etc. but instead this woman was telling me that I needed to jump through hoops and inconvenience myself further instead of trying to help me while I was there. She didn't even look over any of the paperwork that we brought in as well. She simply told me "the policy". Upset, we left and visited another AAA who was baffled by the interaction that I had here, apologized profusely for their unwillingness to help, agreed and validated that the steps they were trying to make us take were unnecessary because they didn't need the existing ID to order a replacement ID! At this point, I'm not sure if it was because the staff, including the manager herself, was being lazy because they were about to close or what but if that's the case, don't have appointment slots available up to 15 minutes before close. I don't even think it was an issue with laziness in all actuality because it took 10 minutes to order the replacement ID at the new AAA that we went to. We truly feel that we were discriminated here because why else would the manager herself refuse to help us, send us on a wild goose chase and give us misinformation? As a long time AAA member of 15+ years, not only that but also a multiple policy owner as well, I'm now shopping around for alternate insurances. I suggest others stay away from this location.

Today, while trying to find the terms and conditions that say I can't cancel my membership, I was yelled at, given a wrong phone number, and hung up on when I asked for the woman who had raised her voice at me name. To be fair, I am getting the amount of my membership back from another fund, but AAA utterly failed to help me when I had a car problem and following up has been very difficult. I do no believe that they can legally refuse to cancel my membership if I'm not even asking for a refund. The contract is most likely an unenforceable adhesion contract. Edited to say: I have talked to multiple people at AAA, only the 2 people who health with my ling complaint were helpful. If AAA actually cared about customer satisfaction is wouldn't take so long and so many endless prompts to get to someone and the department wouldn't be so separated, nor would the terms and conditions be sad hard to find. AAA is a behemoth company that only cared about $. So, I'm not going to email another person to get the same response. If they really fated they could contact me through Yelp.

    AAA has gone down hill SIGNIFICANTLY & I've been a member 10+ years! I just want other members to…read moreknow about the HORRIBLE experience & awful interactions I had yesterday with: dispatchers, tow truck drivers, nearly EVERYONE INVOLVED failed me- after my car broke down on RT 44, on the 295 bridge highway bypass. I called for a tow yesterday around 12:00 pm & TOLD THEM I WAS BROKEN DOWN ON A DANGEROUS ROAD, in a construction zone, on an OVERPASS, with 1 lane of travel, blocking another lane of travel, on the hottest day of the year & not only did they NOT DISPATCH FOR 45 minutes but they began an argument with me about where I was having my vehicle towed! Unbelievable right?!?! Well it gets worse!!! As a AAA member I am paying for the majority of that tow- mind you; they give you a courtesy 3 miles, but dispatchers argued with me for 20+ minutes that I can't have it towed to a private business. I told them multiple times it's NOT A PRIVATE BUSINESS & TO CONNECT me to a supervisor. After waiting on hold for 20M- which was not only UNPROFESSIONAL BUT JUST DOWNRIGHT UNSAFE! Also the business they were arguing with me about is MACERA STONE and my last name is MACERA- IMO- it could not be ANY MORE clear. Initially a supervisor argued with me but then she backpedaled & said it was a misunderstanding and that she was confused and that I COULD HAVE IT TOWED THERE. Which I already knew as I have had vehicles towed there!! Ok, so to make matters worse. I get a text saying your driver is abbot to arrive: from Dave's towing. I was there I flagged him down- he BACKED UP TO MY VEHICLE & THEN LEFT!!!!! I called Dave's Towing repeatedly- at first they denied that it was their driver & then I was told I am calling the police & was HUNG UP on! I then called AAA back to let them know my tow truck driver just TOOK OFF on me. I waited another 15M & finally was connected to someone- They said AAA was arriving in 5M, needless to say THEY NEVER SHOWED UP!! So I call back AGAIN, another 10M on HOLD. I asked what happened why did the tow truck guy pull up & then leave? NOBODY could answer this for me! I was told they are looking into it & that another driver was dispatched. When that same tow truck driver finally came BACK- he had to tow my car because there was an officer there! SO OVERALL IT TOOK NEARLY 2 HOURS TO GET TOWED OFF ROUTE 44 IN SMITHFIELD ON A BUSY SATURDAY AFTERNOON creating all types of traffic & blocking lanes of travel. I am lucky that I didn't get hit by a car or end up in the hospital for dehydration as my air conditioner wasn't working. Not only were the dispatchers extremely rude & argumentative but they were literally TELLING me they were NOT going to have my vehicle towed to location I chose & They should have NEVER WAITED 45M to dispatch the tow truck either THIS SHOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY BEEN DONE.... SECONDLY why did the first tow truck driver pull up & THEN ABRUPTLY LEAVE???? VERY SHADY. Finally, why did it take nearly 2 hours for me to be towed when they claimed I was marked as a priority? I'm just glad that I didn't have my children with me- as this could have went so much WORSE- although I'm not sure how anything could have been worse then the service or lack of service I received yesterday!!!! I WILL be filing a formal complaint with member services on Monday & hopefully AAA can somehow rectify this- but if they choose not to- I will be cancelling our 4 person Family membership! Not only was it evident they do not CARE about their customers but the RUDE attitude by almost every dispatcher involved was unprofessional There were a few dispatchers that were really nice- such as the one who called to follow up afterwords & informed me how I could follow up and make a complaint. She was the only dispatcher I spoke to that offered compassion, kindness, and understanding regarding my situation! I admit I was also a bit testy and yelled on the phone to one of the dispatchers, but I was extremely frustrated and I did apologize to the woman I got loud with. L I'm literally in shock this happened, as I've really never had an "issue" with AAA- prior to today! But I am left traumatized by my experience yesterday & as young woman with children, If this was my daughter this had happened to- I would be Outraged!!
