Now, I don't know what other doctors are doing to up their patient retention game, but I've never felt more seen in my life. As a kid of the 90s, cracking open that bag and finding a holographic slammer was more healing than the antibiotics (but those helped them too). Dr. Calig didn't reignited my childhood joy. THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF A PEDIATRICIAN EVER. -NEW PATIENT- It started with check in, I was not greeted. Then I finically got taken into the back, the nurse wanted to separate my kids in two different rooms because I was by myself and I guess wanted to make the appointment go by faster. But I told them no, because I didn't feel comfortable leaving my 2 year old with someone I didn't know. And then she said to me "Next time maybe bring someone with you." Which is insensitive comment to make when you see a mom of 2 trying to make it happen at a doctor's appointment instead of asking if I need any assistance. Janette was the only staff was really nice and tried helping during the chaos. Then the doctor came in, DR. SCOTT S. CALIG and wasn't friendly at all. Didn't ask 1 question about my kids (who are new patients) but asked "What's your concerns or issue with Vaccines" (because the nurse asked earlier if I was getting vaccines today and I said no) so I told him I just wanted to do more research with them before giving my daughter more. And he goes and on about how I need to get them and they are a must with kids and I am putting my kids In danger if I don't. This man was pretty much arguing with me because I asked for a list of vaccines my daughter was missing and he wouldn't provide it to me he said hename them off the top of his head. Smh. I've been to other pediatricians in California & Also in New Jersey and no one has ever been so unprofessional & Pushy. I rarely write reviews, but after multiple negative experiences at this pediatrician's office, I feel it's necessary to speak up. Every time I call to schedule an appointment, I'm immediately met with a rude and unwelcoming tone from the receptionist, Cindy. I recognize her voice because she never greets callers and consistently answers the phone with an attitude, which sets the tone for the entire experience. I've also voiced concerns about my daughter's health to Dr. Calig, but I never feel heard. His responses are always the same, vague and dismissive. Every appointment feels rushed, and I walk out with more questions than answers. It's frustrating as a parent to feel like you're being brushed off when you're trying to advocate for your child. The most upsetting experience involved a request for a referral for a second opinion on my daughter's lip tie, which Dr. Calig didn't think was important. I called and asked for a referral, and Cindy said she would "write a note" to get it started. When I followed up, I was told by the referral department that there was no note left. I then asked who I had spoken to, since again, there was no greeting and I wasn't given a name. I was transferred from person to person, placed on multiple holds, and questioned about why I wanted the name of the receptionist. I eventually spoke to Sarah, the manager, who defended Cindy's behavior by saying, "That's just how she is." That was incredibly unprofessional. When I explained that I needed the name for a formal complaint and to include in this review, I was put on hold again. Sarah finally admitted it was Cindy but did so with a clear attitude. It's disappointing that a place meant to provide care and support for children treats parents with such disregard. There is clearly a lack of accountability, poor communication, and a culture of brushing off legitimate concerns. The check out lady is RUDE, unfriendly and lazy. She seems like she hates people and working. She makes you feel very uncomfortable when you ask her anything. He was also rude, lacked genuine care for children and rushed through the visit. He never gave results, asked any questions and he made unnecessary comments about my children. When my daughter was 6 weeks old she was sick and I asked that she be tested for the flu. Dr Calig said there was no more flu that year. A few days later, her fever was so high that we took her to the ER and, sure enough, positive for influenza. Fast forward almost 8 years, my daughter had pain for months and a fever off and on and he refused to give referrals. Said it was constipation. Finally took her to CHLA and she had a 5cm infected urachal cyst that was compressing her bladder. She was admitted and had 1 of 2 surgeries. He never reached out to see how she was doing. I asked for medical records and they didn't even care to ask about her. read more

I try not to leave negative feedback on any of these portals because I can appreciate the role negative feedback can play, but these people leave you no choice! I've had to call three times now and request for the Dr. to call me, only to have a bitter or preoccupied or uninterested person answer the phone and push me along. All three times I've literally had the call end with "uh huh buh-bye" or the ever pleasant "uh huh" and click! And three calls later, the Drs. have yet to call me. I'm moving to another practice. This is ridiculous. I haven't even added the in-office experiences because it's just as awful! There is favoritism with certain patients/parents and the ever lovely rude or uninterested receptionists/front office staff who just blame you for everything under the sun, only to be proven wrong by you. I have gone to this office for a while now and I really like Dr. Calig he's always been great however Dr. Sager is absolutely the worst when I was bringing up some concerns to her she kept down playing what I was saying (for example if you told her your back has been hurting for months she'd tell you it's your bed or something instead of actually testing you and making sure, doing her job) not to mention she rolled her eyes at me when I mentioned another issue I had as if she was annoyed to have to do her job. Dr. Calig has been my kids doctor since they were 6 and 7 years olds and they are now teenagers! He is absolutely an amazing doctor! He does not like to give medication when it is not necessary as I so appreciate his professionalism, knowledge because my kids never got unnecessary medicine ! He also has a beautiful heart and truly cares about my kids well being and every single one of his patients! He is loved by my kids and they told me they will never change even when now that my daughter turned 18. I have been taking my kids to Dr. Calig for 17 years. He is the best at what he does. He always knows what is wrong even when their symptoms are complicated. I have seen many doctors and none of them compare or have the knowledge that Dr. Calig has. His bedside manner is beyond anything you could ask for. Many doctors are rushing when they see their patients but Dr. Calig always takes the time to discuss what is wrong with your child and then always makes sure you understand his course of treatment. I love this facility especially Susan she is a wonderful and delightful person. I have been taking my children to this facility for the past 11 almost 12 years. Additionally, I travel a long ways in order to get treatment for my children since I've moved from the area. The reason why I continue to commute is, because I believe they go above and beyond the Call of Duty. For example my children's medication is not covered by their insurance; however, Suzanne disputed it with the insurance company in return saving me around $600 a month. read more

I've been bringing my boys to Dr. Calig for years. Most of my visits over the past few years have been with Susie, LOVE HER!. I've never had a problem with Dr. Calig, he always takes time with you, no problems there. I took my son for his physical last week and he tried, almost INSISTED, got down right indignant with me because I don't want to give my son the vaccine for HPV. I mean this man ARGUED with me for a good 10 min! Vaccines are a personal choice especially when it comes to those that have only been given to boys for the past 4 years. AND doesnt prevent all types of virus or cancers. Do your research on vaccines! I didnt appreciate how he literally tried to BULLY me and put some kind of guilt trip on me for not wanting to give it to my son! And this whole exchange took place in front of my son!!! So unprofessional!! I understand that they may think they are doing whats right or helping to not spread disease, BUT respect the rights of the parents and LET IT GO If they chose not to vaccinate! For this reason, I will not EVER go back to see him, I will continue to see Susie. If she ever leaves then maybe it's time to find a new doc. read more

My son, Daniel has been a patient of Dr. Calig for 2 years and I only wished we would have found him sooner. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. My son has asthma and whenever his refills run out for his inhaler the staff always responds quickly to the pharmacy request. Amazing! My daughter sees Dr.Sager at this office and I can honestly say I have never been so excited about a doctor. She's absolutely amazing! So sweet, kind and knowledgeable. At our last appointment I came in with a laundry list of questions and Dr.Sager spent over a half an hour answering all of them and didn't make me feel the slightest bit rushed. That's not something you can say about most doctors these days. Ive been seeing Dr.Calig now for over 15 years as he was my pediatrician. I now will NEVER, EVER, EVER go back to this office EVER! these doctors administered 3 flu shots to my child within 9 months and I never once gave consent to ANY of them. I had zero clue my child received these shots until reviewing his health records years later. How can you trust a doctor that is making medical decisions for you instead of allowing you to make them for your own children. I would never recommend this pediatrician to anyone. They have always asked me if I have consented to the flu shots and my answer has always been a firm NO, they obviously do not care at all what parents say about their children's health. I would like to advise that anyone who vaccinates their children PLEASE be sure to check and confirm multiple times what they're injecting in to your children because they obviously lied to me and administered the flu shot after I have repetitively denied them! The actual medical care was adequate but the office is not well run. Constant excessive waiting times, front office staff and billing staff can be very rude as mentioned in the other reviews. The final straw was a medical billing code error that their office kept making which caused major long term headaches as they were trying to get away with charge $150 per immunization shots for our newborn, which is their standard rate, even though we had Blue Cross and their agreed upon Blue Cross/Blue Shield Rate was less than half that amount. They kept billing as is we didn't have insurance when we did, and it' been 2 years of back and forth with their billing dept. Needless to say we pulled our business from them and started seeing another doctor in Encino and everything is MUCH better run. To top if off, I paid the amount owed in full for what they said they would accept as a cash patient, they cashed the check that had our agreement of paid in full on it, and they still sent us to collections. Do not trust their billing dept, very greedy and not willing to own up to their mistakes. There are better offices out here in the West Valley. read more

Dr. Calig has been my children's pediatrician since they were both born. I met Dr Calig the morning my son was born when he came to the hospital to check on him. He is ALWAYS friendly and assuring. He is very knowledgeable and also Love Dr. Suzie. My kids always look forward to seeing them even when its for shots. When my daughter was in the hospital for 2 weeks, he came and checked on her daily, when he couldn't, Dr. Sagar came instead. I have definitely experienced high waiting times but not the majority of the time. The office staff has changed a bit, but unfortunately so has the medical industry. If I could give Dr. Calig a zero review, I would. If you want a doctor that has been in practice so long he does not keep up on his education and acts like he already knows everything, then Dr. Calig is a perfect fit for you. He injured my son and turned around and denied it without even pursuing the possibility or caring for my son's wellbeing. He bullied me and tried to bully my husband just so he could be right but he was not. I was right and what I told him was true and we confirmed everything with another doctor who listened and actually sent us to a specialist because he listened to everything I told him about what happened to our son. He cared for our son since he was born in the hospital up to 14 months. I would not recommend this guy to my worst enemy who had a baby. Had I taken his advice and done everything he wanted me to, my son would not have developed as well as he has by leaving this doctor and pursuing a doctor who actually cares and listens to their patient's guardian and their concerns. Dr. Calig is more concerned with his annual kickback checks from his pharmaceutical rep than he is about his patients. He really needs to go back to school and update his pediatric education.
