Dr. Scott Zahner is Awesome. He really cares about his patients and explains symptoms and potential medications to achieve your desired results. He wants to make sure you are getting the results you want, which is the reason he has patients come back to visit to monitor the progress of his recommendation. He is funny, caring and considerate medical professional with a great bedside manner. I have been dealing with plaque psoriasis for years on my elbows, head and knees because of my arthritis. Horrible Staff - Here is my experience with Aesthetic & Clinical Dermatology Assoc. in Hinsdale. I came in for a routine mole removal. I had the mole removed and tested then had to come back a second time to have more of the mole removed. On the second visit I had about 6 stitches put in. Dr. Zahner told me this was a very standard procedure. The next day my back where my stitches were placed felt like it was on fire. I was worried so I called the doctor's office and asked if this was normal or if I could be having a reaction to the stitches and if they offer any kind of cream or save for the pain. The woman working the front desk said "We don't do anything like that." And that I "couldn't be allergic to the stitches." If I wanted I could make another appointment with the doctor she could do that but that was about it. The woman at the front desk implied I was overreacting and scheduled my appointment for the removal of my stitches. The stitches continued to ache and burn. I treated the wound like I was told until the day I had to come back in for the removal of the stitches. So, I came in had the stitches removed and went home. The next morning, a Saturday, in the shower I can tell something is wrong and felt a gaping hole in my back where the stitches had been removed. I immediately called the doctor's office, which was closed because it was Saturday. A woman answered the phone and I explained what had happened. She says the only thing she can do is make an appointment for me for Monday to come back in. I ask if I should go to the emergency room and she says I could do that as well. Having a gaping, open wound in my back I opt to go to the emergency room. The E.R. doctor explains the following. He said just looking at the hole in my back he could tell I had a reaction to the stitches and that they came out way too soon. (I still have tiny red stitch mark scars all around the wound where the stitches had been placed). Because of the likely hood of infection he suggested I not sew the wound back up because it had partially healed. My only option was to let the wound heal on it's own (which took months and left me with a huge disgusting looking scar on my back in the shape of an eyeball). The E.R. doctor's own words it looks like I had been "butchered' and that finding a new doctor would be the best idea. The cost of the E.R. visit was roughly $200. This brings me to contacting Dr. Zahner's office again. I received a bill from Aesthetic & Clinical Dermatology Assoc. in Hinsdale for around $350. I pay $150 of the bill and call to discuss what had happened and that I don't feel I should have to pay the remaining balance of $200 because of what happened, the cost of the emergency room visit, and the advice I was give from the women that work there. I believe the woman who took my call was named Mille. I explained the situation and immediately she got defensive. She accused me of lying about the procedure, lying I had a reaction to the stitches, lying about the advice I was given, and ironically lying about ever calling the doctor's office. They seemed to have no record of me calling twice regarding this issue. She repeatedly raised her voice and was completely condescending to me. I offered to provide photos taken in the E.R. of the wound and hospital bill. She was not interested in hearing any of that. She repeated everything I said to her very loudly and mocking me, (I assume so her associates could hear our conversation) Her final comment before hanging up was that if I didn't pay the money I owed today she would report me to the credit bureau. I decided to pay the $200 and be done with it. The procedure ended up costing me around $600 in total, I have a huge disgusting scar on my back and was accused of being a liar. I hate having to post a review like this but felt it was necessary. I am also filing a complaint with the American Medical Association. If you are looking for a dermatologist, in my opinion, you will find better more humane service elsewhere. read more

Dr. Scott Zahner is THE BEST doctor my husband and I have ever encountered ! My husband is a multiple melanoma survivor so we go in frequently for skin cancer full body scans. Dr. Scott has this calm, friendly, and professional bedside manner that immediately puts you at ease. I go here for laser hair removal and am so happy with the results and even more thrilled with Sherrie who does them. I've been going to Dr. Scott for many years. He is fantastic, always making sure you have a beautiful and natural look. I also have taken a family member to him for a skin condition and he always cures him. I have sent a few people here and he is the only dermatologist I would go to. Why a 4 star? Well 4 stars are not bad, I am a huge fan of Dr. Scott I only wish he would take his time with his patients. He is in and out in less than 10 minutes. I sometimes feel rushed. Perhaps it's just that he is good at what he does and very efficient, I don't know, but in my opinion I think he should spend a little more time with his patients that are paying a ton of money to see him. I will not stop going to him because he is very good, and he knows his stuff. I'll just have to deal with the lack of hospitality. read more

Dr Zahner is great, my family has been going to him for 15 years. But his new staff, especially the office manager Millie, is insufferable, rude and unprofessional. After spending several thousand out-of-pocket (not counting the insurance payments), this was utterly unacceptable. Don't go until he fires Millie. read more

Dr. Zahners office is very poorly run, the staff in billing and insurance is very rude and unwilling to work with patients. This is the second time I have visited this office and should have gone with my gut feeling from the first time around which was a night mare because at the time I had two insurances and they weren't willing to process both. As a single mom now, they are not willing to work financially with me. Their Billing supervisor Millie is quite possible the rudest person I have ever dealt with, I asked for one more month to pay off a bill and she was not willing to budge. Kept telling me I was going to get service fees each month. I think a Dr. Staff says a lot about the office as a whole and I will never return to Dr. Zahners office . read more

I absolutely love this doctor. Scott Zahner is hands down the best and we have been seeing him for many years now! I think he is truly a genius. He can literally walk into the room and diagnose and resolve an issue in seconds. Don't let his speed and casual demeanor fool you. He is efficient, calm and collected because he actually knows what he is talking about and doesn't need to spend crazy amounts of your time discussing non related concerns, but after getting to know him, he is so awesome you might want to turn it into a social visit! His office is on time. I have NEVER felt rushed with him. Know why you are going in and plan to discuss your specific issues and stay on task, don't waste your time or his. If you have a question, he will answer in detail, but doesn't bother with all the minutiae unless you want it in which case he will provide you with comprehensive information. He is not looking to make up reasons to have procedures. If something is not an issue, he won't just cut it out for the biopsy. On the medical side, he has assisted our entire family with multiple challenging skin issues, including my 70+ year old father who suffered for years without results, then went to Dr. Zahner and received an exact diagnoses and perfect results from his treatment. It was like magic! On the cosmetic side, the man is a genius. If you're hoping to come out looking like plastic, don't see him. His cosmetic style is more natural and he won't let you get carried away. That said, he has helped me keep the hands of time at bay for years now. The office is clean, modern and on time. Lighting. I have tried multiple times to get a full body check and have decided this is NOT the place. I have been going to Dr. Zahner since he started his practice and have referred way to many people. My 1st experience and conversation with him was he used to be part of HMO's but was saddened that it didn't allow him time to listen to patients and educate them as needed. This was why he started his own practice. As time has progressed he I guess left those values at the door. I have surveyed a lot of the people I referred to Dr. Zahner and their experience and complaints are the same. Put your hand up and don't allow him to use his SPRAY CAN unless you are aware he gets $150 per squirt and you get him to tell you WHY this needs to be done or better yet if. I'm a little embarrassed by the response of people I referred. A couple of family members have gone elsewhere and find their care to be complete and what they pay for. I did speak with Dr. Zahner previously about my issues and I was encouraged to make another appointment and he would personally make sure my full body check was a comprehensive one. Which I did (had to wait well over a month) I timed it, 3 minutes and he sprayed a spot on my face. The nurse asked if I had anything I wanted to address and I said yes this spot. When he was done with his 3 minute exam and ready to leave the room I asked if he was going to check the spot. He said do you have anyplace you are going in the next 3 days as he picked up his can and squirted his $150 squirt and then said a little sun damage.
