When our insurance changed last year, I subsequently found this lovely practice in Hinsdale. I saw Dr. Rachel Bognet. She has been fantastic! For years I was taking my daughters to a well known, local, highly recommended dermatologist who was unable to clear their simple acne. Dr. Bognet immediately had numerous options available which had never been presented elsewhere! Within a week of seeing Dr. Bognet, my girls' faces were clear. (Interestingly, they each had different types of acne, which required entirely different treatments.) I wish I had found her sooner! Similarly, I struggled with a small wart near my fingernail. The prior dermatologist's years of treatments did not eliminate the problem. Dr. Bognet to the rescue. She treated and eliminated the stubborn wart the first time! She is amazing! Over the last year, she has successfully treated a variety of skin ailments presented by my five family members. Additionally, her medical technician, Kyle, is fantastic. My daughter went off to college and needed continuation of care in a small rural town out of state. Kyle spent hours over multiple phone calls working with the not-so-up-to-date rural provider. I've tried calling for 2 weeks to get an appointment--trying to make the appointment online but it tells you on the website you must call to make a new patient appointment, so then I call but the recording says to make the appointment online. So frustrating. I have left 2 voicemails and 2 email inquiries. I've also randomly received texts from them asking for my information but then they ultimately tell me to call for my appointment and so the confusion continues. I've given up and I'll go elsewhere. I can only imagine what it's like with billing and communication once you're an actual patient. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Steil from when she first opened her office on Clay Street. I have progressed with her to her new office and often see Dr. Bonet and other non-doctors for various dermatology issues. My son who is now 40 was treated by Dr. Steil when he was a teenager. Today I phoned to get the results of a recent spot biopsy. I haven't been able to get into the patient portal and they are working on this. I have a different doctor who does my MOHS surgery and I asked for a copy of the report. Well, I can have this, but they charge for "paper" now, $25.00, if I ask for it to be mailed to me, it's $30. This is, in my mind, ludicrous. read more

This clinic is predatory. I visited this clinic in 2022 after my provider switched offices. I called both the clinic and my insurance to confirm that the provider accepts my insurance. They both confirmed she does. Later, I received a bill. The clinic said they would investigate and they determined that they did not fill out the paperwork with the insurance company in time, so the provider was not covered for a few days, and I happened to visit during those days. How on Earth would I as the patient know this or be responsible for this? They sent my bill to collections. Karin, the office manager is a disgusting and predatory human being for these types of practices. Maybe take accountability for your own actions. They must not be doing well financially to harass me over $300 that is THEIR FAULT and that THEY OWE. read more

They have the most incompetent billing department. I continue to get bills, and I have not been seen by them in a long time. They are careless and clueless. This place has gone downhill. Scheduling is a mess. My first appointment they called to reschedule multiple times. My second appointment the receptions told me one day, and scheduled it another. My third appointment they called me 15 minutes before to change the location. When I said I couldn't make it to that location they charged me a no show fee. More notice would have been greatly appreciated. This office doesn't respect you or your time. Time in the waiting room is excessive and their billing is a headache. Their prices are astronomical and always require multiple phone calls to billing and insurance to sort out. I will be looking for a new dermatologist. Maybe this place is fine for cosmetic stuff - it's clear that's all they care about it. read more

i was recommended by a family friend to try this place. Everyone was very pleasant and doctor was very nice. After the first round of treatments was finished and didn't work I reached out to the doctor via patient portal. well almost two weeks later no response so I reached out via telephone. the staff said the doctor would get back to me never did. Finally they responded over the patient portal. It was the doctor who said they would prescribe a different medication and I agreed the day I saw the message that was 5/8 and it's now 5/16... still don't have the new medication or response. I wish I would have looked at the reviews online because I drove an hour and a half away. Wish there was better communication between provider and patient. read more

Very disappointed in my visit. Christina Steil could not give a brief explanation to me of why they changed pharmacies and also could not provide me with a prescription my insurance was able to fully cover. I have great insurance and I definitely would not recommend going to her. She was very rushed during my appointment and made her assistant explain everything to me, very bad services here! They couldn't explain to me why they only use one pharmacy, she spent no time at all looking at my face. The entire appointment she was on a computer putting in a prescription my insurance can't even cover. Definitely won't be coming back here & I suggest you don't neither, save yourself! read more

Considering the poor Yelp rating for this place, I am not sure why I ever booked an appointment here in the first place. I have been here at least three times now and two times required a 30+ minute wait. This last time, after half an hour of waiting and no doctor ever showing up, I just left and I do not plan to return. Everyone has different standards, so long wait times may not be a factor for you, but I cannot continue to see a doctor that does not respect my time. read more

Completely misdiagnosed by Dr. Rachel Bognet. She was so brief in my appointment and apparently didn't listen to my symptoms or would have know exactly what was wrong. She prescribed steroids which was the opposite of what I needed. When I called to speak to the office, they made excuses for her. I received a quick appointment date. The process was simple. The office staff was friendly. I did not wait. They set me up in a room right away. Dr. Bognet was nice and went right to work. My experience at Steil Dermatology was the worst experience I have ever had at any physician's office. I waited for TWO FULL HOURS to be seen by Dr. Steil, and even after asking repeatedly to be seen, none of her staff seemed to care. They kept telling me that Dr. Steil got "caught up with a patient." Extremely disappointed with my appointment with Dr. Steil today. First I had to wait 35 minutes past my appointment time before someone came down to get me. I asked the front desk if they had forgotten about me. It would have been nice if someone had told me she was running behind or even an apology for having to wait so long, but nothing. I had made the appointment for a skin cancer body scan and botox. She did the body scan first and had to freeze three spots. She also told me I had a mole that needed to be removed and to come back to have that done. I asked her if she could do it now, which is normally what a dermatologist will do, and she said that she didn't have time. So she expected me to make another appointment on another day and probably have to wait another 30 minutes to get to have this mole removed when I know all other dermatologists would do at the time of your appointment. I absolutely love this place! Dr. Steil is so professional and kind. Loved the results I achieved with her. Now let's talk about Amber....such a kick! Amber is one of Dr. Steil's cosmetic service providers. Incredibly professional. She is funny and very easy to work with....extremely knowledgeable. She instilled trust and confidence. Every time I have had an appt at this clinic, I am made to wait for at least 20 minutes (today I waited 30 minutes) which is quite rude considering you are paying a premium. Kathy is excellent, practical and has a wealth of knowledge. However, if you are looking for a doctor, I would probably advise that you go elsewhere for 3 reasons - 1. My experience with Dr. Steil was a total nightmare that literally left me with (completely avoidable) scars. I went to her to get a couple of moles on my face removed for cosmetic purposes, since she had cutting-edge lasers advertised on her site. Instead, she insisted they could just be cut off regularly, and then proceeded to shave them not NEARLY all the way off, even though I told her I could tell they weren't gone. I called in after they healed (still VERY raised and visible) and she said I could come in and she'd handle it for free. Nope! She still didn't remove them all the way, and I told her that, and again, she didn't listen. She claimed they were swollen from the anesthetic and would disappear later. So I come in for a third time. She should feel pretty embarrassed by now, right? No, she just seemed annoyed. She never once apologized. Guess what? They're still not gone. After three times. This ain't my first rodeo, kids--I have had lots of moles removed, and never before have I seen this after ONE time, let alone three. But that brings me to the scar. I asked if she could take a look at a thing on my wrist that looked like a tiny little bump, no bigger than a match head. She said she didn't know what it was, but it looked totally harmless. Just to be safe though, she said, we should probably biopsy it. I said yes, assuming she would shave it off cleanly. Instead, she cut a dime-sized circle out of my skin (!!!!!!!!) and poorly stitched it up so that my skin bunched up into ripples. I now have a huge, ugly scar right on the top of my wrist FOR NO REASON. It is way, way, way uglier than the completely harmless bump that was there before. To top it off, the last time I saw her, she told me, completely unsolicited, "If you want to take care of your face I can give you a facial to clear up all of that acne." GEE THANKS. I went to the office on 4/5/2021 to remove a dark spot and paid $170.00 onsite and asked the front desk girl if I was paid up and she said yes . Three months later I get another bill for $233.00 for office visit . I called the office to clear this up and this woman Karen was extremely rude to me . The spot is not gone and have to pay $403.00. I would not recommend this office at all please find another dermatologist . I have never had a problem with any doctors office until now . read more

I went to see Dr. Bognet at CSC Dermatology after hearing wonderful reviews about the practice and the doctors. The in office visit went okay, but the follow up was far from acceptable. After Dr. Bognet ordered some blood work for me and some results were abnormal, all I was told from one of the assistants was "[said test] was abnormal. No correlation to chief concern". I'm sorry, but telling me that I have an abnormal test without any further explanation is absolutely unacceptable. Furthermore, each time I called the office trying to get more information and a better explanation, I was given the run around by the medical assistants, while they tried to figure out who I was and they claimed to have results that "were not ordered" by the doctor, when they actually were. Patients should not be treated this way no matter where they go. In a customer service business, you would think the staff and doctors would go the extra mile to make sure their patients are taken care of, but I absolutely did not receive any further insight into my diagnosis from Dr. Bognet. I was even told she would reach out to me (which she didn't), but the medical assistant did who (no fault of her own), did not know how to answer my questions. In most offices, you would think the office manager would follow up with a phone call apologizing or trying to make things right after I expressed my concerns to the medical assistant, but I have gotten nothing. The WEIRDEST experience ever. Idk how to even explain, I'm trying to figure out how to describe this... Went in for a full body skin cancer screening.... The doctor talked a million miles a minute, laughed and brushed off the spots I was concerned about, kept saying "oh I see you have another pimple here..." (gee thanks I didn't know I had a pimple on my chin....) then kept saying I have dark hair and olive skin so I'm lucky since my family is Irish but I scheduled a skin cancer screening so obviously I was worried and wanted to stay on top of my skin...then she kept pointing out the most awkward things that she could have just looked at, analyzed in her head and carried on to the important stuff.... Example, she said "oh wow, you were scratching your legs... you scratched hard. Yeah I can see where you scratched your legs" I said, yes weather change made my skin dry and I put a scented lotion on and it irritated my skin and made mg legs itch so much! Even after I explained she repeated herself and kept pointing out the scratches... almost felt like she was fixated in things she didn't even need to look at and couldn't move on?! The marks on my legs were clear dry patches and you could see that I just scratched them! .... Why are we still talking about it! Is there an issue with me scratching my frickin dey legs??? I came here for you to check sun spots and we are talking about me scratching dry skin? WHY!?! It was just really awkward. Idk why but I just left there feeling like nothing was addressed except her talking about my temporary flaws.... SO AWKWARD I wanted to run out of there. read more

My daughters and I are long-time patients of Dr. Steil and her aestheticians for both medical and cosmetic procedures. We love this practice, and even after moving out of the area will make the 50- minute drive to get there because we trust Dr. Steil and her staff. The doctors are warm and skilled, the staff professional, and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for an appointment since they moved into their Hinsdale "house." I like how they take skin health seriously, and make sure I get my yearly skin cancer check. read more

Took my high school aged son for help with acne. They always send us to some weird phone-in pharmacy for "better prices". Last time the same pharmacy said they no longer accept express scripts. It's been weeks I've been trying to get "prior authorization" from the office so that this will be covered. The office either doesn't answer, puts me on hold or just doesn't do what they say they will. So frustrated with the lack of care. This is not a life or death situation but it shouldn't take a month to resolve this small issue! We will be finding a new doctor. I don't trust the ethics (are these pharmacies and drugs they have sweet deals with?) or the ability of the office to respond when we need them. Very disappointing. read more

Went to get a full body exam. They reported that a mole on my back seemed suspicious and pressured me to allow them to biopsy it that day. She biopsied it and put a single stitch on the mole afterwards, which, in retrospect, was so not necessary. The results of the biopsy came back reporting that the mole was "pre-cancerous" and that I needed to get it removed asap. Being a young woman, phrases like this freak me out and I was about to make an appointment to get it removed until talking with my parents. We decided to get a second opinion from a different dermatologist in the area (one with EXTENSIVE melanoma treatment experience) who basically said that labeling a mole as "pre-cancerous" isn't even a thing anymore and that the mole was absolutely nothing to worry about. Proceed with caution here. Don't let them pressure you into doing something you aren't comfortable with. I almost wasted a lot of $$$ read more

I was a first time patient at Steil Derm, and a first timer when dealing with a skin issue. I had a few dark spots of concern and my experience was very pleasurable and satisfying. The facility is not your typical doc office. It's a beautiful home that has been tastefully and professionally modeled to make patients feel "at home." Its was very comfortable and private and that comfort was important on my end. I (being a male in my 30s) was somewhat apprehensive about going in the first place. However my concerns could not be put off forever. Dr Steil was very professional. She was attentive, informative, energetic and talkative, NOT cold and quiet like other docs I have seen in the past for other issues. It made my visit more enjoyable and comfortable. After my exam she assured me with the fortunately positive news. She gave me some suggestions which were welcomed. I know I have neglected the importance of skin care up to this point. I will be paying more attention to my skin and will be going back for a follow up. My overall impressions and experience could not have been better. I would recommend Steil Dermatology to anyone. I know there are a large scope of procedures they can perform there. Although mine turned out minor, I would trust them with most anything within their scope. read more

I have been seeing Dr Steil for numerous botox, fillers, and lasers. I also brought my daughter there for wart removal. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The practice is consistently having the manufacturer come in for updated training and to gain additional knowledge. She is very personal and has great 'bedside' manner. On my first visit to Dr. Steil, I had to fill out the usual paperwork, you know -- what medications I take, surgical history... the questions you spend 20 minutes answering and then answer again for the Dr. that didn't read it. NOT THE CASE HERE! Dr. Steil read from printed notes on info I had just written down just minutes before. The whole place and experience just felt above professional. From the initial greeting through the thorough and thoughtful exam that included a stenographer that captures all the doctor's verbal notes during my exam. Again a total recommend, from my virtually pain-free procedure to my scar-less results, Dr. Steil is a GREAT doctor. read more

I waited well over an hour and a half just to be seen by the doctor!! I went to see Dr. Steil to discuss some of my medical skin concerns. Instead of addressing my concerns she seriously only discussed cosmetic procedures that I should do at her office. In my opinion, Dr. Steil is more of a sales person than a doctor! I spent several thousand dollars for the Ultherapy treatment after talking through a plan to rejuvenate my skin at Steil Dermatology. Dr Steil suggested starting with the Ultherapy, they really hyped this new treatment and said it builds back the natural collegen. Frankly I saw no improvement after the several week waiting period after this incredibly expensive treatment. I then had a scheduled appointment with Dr Steil for a 15 minute follow up. I was escorted into a room and waited over an hour. About 40 minutes in a staff member stopped in and said that Dr Steil would be in shortly. At an hour and 10 minutes I finally just left. I explained that I just couldn't stay and wait any longer. No follow up call from the office to reschedule or apology. I realize that Drs. are busy, but we are all busy and everyones time is valuable. I wouldn't waste my money on this treatment. And I Wish I had researched more and not swallowed the sales pitch. And the over an hour wait was just ridiculous!:( read more
