Brandon was out to inspect the ductwork and said rats had chewed holes through our entire ductwork. He went as far as to tell my wife he looked through the holes and saw rodent droppings and we needed to replace everything for $12,000. I had two other AC companies and a pest control company out. I have a policy with American Homeshield and recently needed to call them because my outside AC unit would not turn on. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment with a vendor they assigned me to and immediately after that checked out their reputation. The reviews were horrid. They offered me another company, and their review were also horrid. I was ready to cancel my contract but called one more time to see what other company they could give me, and it was Max Cool of Apollo Beach. I looked for their reviews, and they were very positive, so I decided to give them a try. I called them to discuss the repair, and I spoke to two wonderful Ladies by the names of Janette and Anna who was just so helpful in scheduling and overall professional in her job. Janette scheduled Jeremy who was a great tech who checked my AC unit thoroughly and found a leak in my AC Coil that caused all my freon to escape that was 17 pounds. Freon is very expensive and my AHS Gold plan did not cover the freon that cost me $1,199 dollars out of my pocket to recharge my unit after a new coil was to be installed. IMPORTANT note to anyone reading this review is if you would have had the AHS deluxe plan the freon was included in their repair. So, let's look at the overall cost to me if I did not have AHS. I saved not to have to pay for the new coil and the installation of that coil. This could have run into a few thousand alone. In general AHS looks to save money when they can with a claim and found my coil was still under warranty. So, I think they took advantage of this in my case, and they saved money not having to pay for the coil but did not offer to pay for the freon with their savings of no coil purchase. Well Max cool sent out another great technician to install my new coil and recharge my system. All I can say about Rodney is another 5 stars for technical experience and doing just a sensational job with the major repair. Everything is working very good since the repair two days ago. I truly feel this AC company is one of the best out there and deserve to be on the list of great and fair service companies. read more

The reviews are right on yelp. I had a A/c compressor leak and was told it could be fixed by one of the technicians. After a 8 day wait with no air, they sent another technician out and found out they could not repair it needed to be replaced. I said this from day 1. Customer service has been poor and inconsistent. I was told i needed my blower wheel clean "so clean you could eat off of it" before they fix the issue and the evaporator coil cleaned. It's been 2 weeks with two separate contractors who have cleaned the wheel and now the gentleman I've been working with isn't in despite telling me to follow up on Saturday. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND RUN! Reporting to BBB as we speak. Apparently normal wear and tear of a blower wheel is ok and this may be fraud. read more

If I could give a negative star I would. This company has the worst customer service ever. We called Max Cool on a Thurs when our a/c unit of 1 yr 3 months old went out. Brand new top of the line a/c unit. Repairman came out after dark on Thurs and couldn't see anything to do anything. He left w/o doing anything. Another repairman came out on Sat. Said we needed 3 new boards for this top of the line a/c and didn't have boards on hand and needed to order them. Max Cool is closed on Sundays so they couldn't even order them until Monday and were told the boards were being expedited and will arrive Tues. morning. Called Tues. morning to find out that they were being trucked from Tallahassee Fl to Tampa Fl then the tech guy would need to go pick them up in Tampa and come to Poinciana where our home is. Needless to say, the boards were NOT expedited at all and didn't arrive to Max Cool until Wed. One thing after speaking with the customer service lady, she made it sound like where we lived was soooo far out for them to service. I thought then why do you offer services where I live??? Such disrespect from a company. When we called to get updates, we spoke with the same condescending service representative. Basically, flat out lied to us about the boards being expedited and showed absolutely no professionalism towards us. We called Max Cool one more time to see if they had the boards. They checked and found out that the tech had the boards and he was on his way out. This was on Wed. We asked for the tech to call us to confirm since we didn't trust the customer service rep. After about an hour the tech guy did call and said he would be there in 45 mins with the boards. He finally showed up. All I have to say now is..... do not walk RUN RUN RUN from this company. They're customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! MAJOR SCAM ARTISTS! American Home Sheild Warranty directed me to them. Their service person claimed my 14 year old AC system needed replacement. Sounded reasonable. Next their salesman brings me paperwork to sign for a new system. Ok so far. Then MaxCool claimed I signed up for and upgraded system, I DID NOT. Finally MaxCool denied everything and AHS will not pay the claim. Now I'm S**t out of luck! read more

This review will mirror reviews posted over the past month. Had this company assigned to me by AHS. Was told compressor was going bad and that this is what was tripping the circuit breaker. Would first be 2 weeks for replacement, which then turned to 4 weeks due to COVID back log of getting the replacement compressor from the manufacturer of this needed "special" compressor!! Of course it would be much faster if I installed a whole new unit for $8000, which of course I could finance. Likely hood of mold present in my old unit was used as another tactic to get me to bite. So I called a trusted air tech who said it sounded like a problem with the actual circuit breaker and to check that first! According to him if the compressor was bad it most likely would trip the breaker immediately upon trying to start! I've read similar reviews posted lately that leaves me to believe that this company is engaging in unfair business practices and I will be reporting them to the Florida Attorney Generals office and recommend others they have shilled do the same! I'm of course disputing the $100 service call with AHS and we'll see how that goes. Stay tuned for an update since this is way from over! I disputed their slip shod service call! These idiots as I indicated tried to take me for the proverbial ride! Kris, the head sniffer told AHS a completely different diagnosis say he did things he didn't do! I now have another company coming out to give their diagnosis which im sure will be complety different! Do yourself a favor and don't use these four flushing sacs of shit! Max Cool got the job through AHS. They seemed a bit too far the call but arrived as scheduled. A few minutes after his arrival the tech came to the conclusion that compressor was blown out on unit 1. And since unit 2 uses an old freon it must be changed too. But not to worry they can do the job at a reasonable price. Well another HVAC company showed today and amazingly there is nothing wrong with the compressor and it does need a few simple parts and will be back in service. The new tech says the Trane compressor I have is bulletproof and much better than newer units. read more

Sometimes you get lucky. While waiting for an AC company to give me a quote, up pulls Josh from Max Cool. He had pulled over in front of my house to send a couple of text messages. I thought he was the "other guys". He was not, but said he would come back and have a look. 5 days later, I am living in a much, much cooler house. They installed my new unit. It look nearly 9 hours, but it is done. Those guys never stopped! Even my neighbor thanked me because she can not hear the new unit outside. I am so happy Josh did not text and drive! read more

Similar to another review, this company proved to be untrustworthy, incompetent and shady. The tech was inept and unprofessional. These sub-par, contracted companies with AHS often receive such discounted coverage for large jobs that they'd rather lie to not have the job covered since it's not worth the labor and then instead have the customer pay the regular high rate for the repairs themselves. The tech comes out and gives one diagnosis, but then the boss, back at the shop, changes it in order to void the warranty. Completely fraudulent and unethical. Worse yet, upon calling and questioning the shady practices with absolute proof to back it up, the owner doubles down, loses his temper and rages in a most unprofessional, uneducated, and unrestrained manner. It would be reckless for anyone to put their home repair in the hands of this company whether free, discounted, or full price. read more

These guys came out from my home warranty and said I had 2 options wait 4-6 for a fabricated part for the AC or get a new unit. New unit installed is fine it was an old unit but then the guy came out a few days after to "inspect" my other unit which is less than 6 years old and in great shape and tries telling me I have to replace everything including the ducts and says it's swamped with mold. Says AC units are only supposed to last 5 years now despite the fact he just sold me a unit days before and harped on the 10 warranty. Something didn't smell right and he was stepping over himself so i declined and I called a certified mold remediation company and they said everything was fine and no issues. Just really set me off and I am now questioning the validity of the other unit I shelled out to replace. Kris the sales guy is a crook and I wouldn't trust this company at all read more

Worst new company in town i was serviced by them 2 months ago a guy named edwin came he said if i had anymore problems he will be coming back in a 30 day frame well he came back 20 days after and just to charge me again for the same service..... I had to go back to the company that serviced my AC all this years Cool Air Usa, i highly dont recomend them they are new in business and the workers are apprentices, rip off, they claim they wont charge unless they do the work but they dont do the work the proper way so they can come out again and charge once more. read more
