Outstanding food and service.. Scott goes above and beyond to make sure his customers are satisfied. His staff is friendly and attentive. The menu is moderate which keeps quality high. First time eating Scott's and I have no idea why I waited so long!!! Calling in an order for takeout was easy and service was quick. They told us it would only be 10 minutes! Everyone was so nice. I ordered the 'Pick 3' Breakfast combo with French Toast, Hashbrowns, and Sausage. French toast was classic and so good. The hashbrowns were amazing and the sausage was so juicy. My Fiancé ordered the 'Breakfast Burrito' without any onions or bell peppers and let me just say that is a dang good burrito! I've been searching for a breakfast burrito that satisfies my breakfast burrito craving and when I took one bite, I knew this was the one. I honestly want to get another one already! Ok, it's not often that I leave reviews, but this place was on point all the way around!! Service was great! We had a little bit of a wait, but well worth it. Staff was always making sure our drinks were filled, food was brought out in a timely manner, and they were always checking on all the customers not just us. Now let me tell you about the food!! We had the The Big Country Breakfast! It was $17.99. Hear me out now, my fiance and I split the meal, and it was huge!! We're not small eaters by any means so that says a lot!! Now let's talk about quality!! Country fried steak cooked to perfection!! It was not overcooked or overcrusted, eggs were perfect, not burnt. Potatoes were freaking amazing, I've only had potatoes like that in one other place in California, and the biscuits and gravy literally melted in my mouth! Omgosh, this place was sooo good!! I can tell when a cook takes pride in his craft and the cook there must cook with love because the food was just so good. I mean big portions are fine and dandy in a restaurant but this place makes big food that tastes great and that's why I am leaving this review. 10 our of 10 recommend!! I also listened to the other customers and they were all saying how great their food was. One lady was telling whoever with she tried the steak and eggs before and she loved it too. Was recommended here by my niece that lives here in Merced. We are from LA driving to the bay ( San Francisco) . Breakfast was delicious but besides the breakfast. SIX STARS. Although this place looks, well, a little funky, the food and service is just like eating at that one house in your neighborhood when you were a kid that EVERYTHING tasted ten times better than your Mom made. I stopped in Merced for a day and asked the locals where to go for the best local food. Five of the ten or so told me to go to Scotty's because of the outstanding home cookin'. I was met with a smile and a kind word from the waitress as soon as I went inside. I chose the pot roast cooked in onions and mushrooms with sides of mashed taters and gravy, perfectly steamed carrots and broccoli (so fresh), with a yummy dinner roll smiling at me from the side of the plate. It was perfect. I ate the entire plate and even has a small slice of chocolate cake. The staff could not be better nor nicer, the place is super clean (that's a biggie for me) and the small menu tells me all the food is fresh and made with love. I will be back to try the chicken fried steak dinner next time. This place is a total bingo. read more

Anytime we come here we are greeted w/ a smile & the service is excellent. We always check out the specials because they do change from time to time. The menu is easy to read, not overwhelming w/ too many choices & truly a diner atmosphere. I'm absolutely amazed that this place has such good reviews. The first thing you think when you come in is "this place is a dump". The decor looks like something that wouldn't even sell at a yard sale. In fact you could not give it away. The floor is filthy, the bathrooms make a gas station restroom look posh. Just awful. The food..well, the potatoes were average, the eggs were bad, and the pancakes were inedible. Just say no... The service was fine so that's the only slightly positive thing to say. We were staying a cross the street at hiliday in express and saw the reviews. I'm so happy we walked over. Yes, it does look like a hole in the wall, but the food and service were top-notch. They brewed a fresh pot of decaf for me even though i said a little regular would be fine. They insisted on a fresh pot and not to worry. Garlic fries were so good and both our burgers were great. We definitely will be back on our next trip to Yosemite. The service and friendliness of the staff was more than i can say. read more

Love this small family little diner. used to go to Paul's Place when Paul used to own it until it started going down. Then this place came and it's our to go place now. The people are extremely nice. The place is clean and the food is absolutely delicious. Prices are reasonable , definitely one of the only places to go in Merced since we have such a small restaurants selection here. read more
