We ate here after a race at the college, and it was packed -- but the staff handled it like total pros! They got everyone seated quickly, took our orders efficiently, and our food came out faster than I expected (even with a chicken fried steak in the mix). I grew up in a restaurant, so I know how hard it is to keep things consistent when it's that busy -- but they nailed it. The food is literally the best, the steak, the eggs Benedict, the hamburgers, the meatloaf, and the pies are everything we always save room for pie or carrot cake. Love this place! Found it the day we moved my kid to the area for college. Went back weeks later for my birthday lunch and it was great again! It is clean, love the decor, food is good and has large portions. The fries are so good AND they have good ranch! Friday morning I went in to have breakfast with my son (9:45am) and surprisingly there was no line and nobody waiting. We waited to be seated just like the sign asked, waited for about 8-10 minutes without being approached by a hostess or anybody else. Finally after that time a shorter gentleman with glasses walks up to the podium with menus, puts the menus down, doesn't acknowledge us even though we were sitting directly across from the the podium and right next to the front doors. Then comes back and says "it's going to be a few minutes before I can seat you" (the whole right side of the restaurant was empty and directly in front of me on the left was maybe half full.) restaurant did not seem busy at all so I responded with "that's fine we can wait." Assuming it'd be maybe another minute or so up to 5 minutes. He walks away without another word and then doubles back and says it's gonna be about 15-20 minutes before I can seat you. I was one single adult with a 7 year old. The response Seemed a bit ridiculous and lazy in my opinion. This was my first and last visit unfortunately. I used to love Paul's place when it was on G Street and there was never issues like this all of a sudden they have a new name, new location and I don't believe I'd go back there again. Sad to say but Dennys offers better service than this. read more

I come to Merced to visit family and every visit we love to make a stop at Yosemite Station. I wish I had taken pictures of my food to post (next time). We love the senior menu because of the portions and prices. I ordered from the regular menu, the club sandwich was huge. The dinner's come with sides, salad, and rolls. First time here. We went around 10am on a Friday. The place looks nice, very clean. We were seated right away. Everyone we interacted with was friendly. I enjoyed the service. It wasn't too fast where I felt rushed but it wasn't too slow either. I feel like w got a decent about of food for the price. The food was good (I had chorizo and eggs), just not great. I'm hoping to go again to try a lunch or dinner. The cakes in the case looked wonderful. Maybe on the next trip I can bump it up to five stars. Every time I go to Yosemite station I have the same experience, very long wait times even when the restaurant is not busy and excellent food. I was very disappointed Sunday when I met friends at Yosemite Station for lunch. My friend who has trouble standing, had to wait to be seated, even though there were only a few tables taken. Because I had been there before I made sure I had a fun size candy bar in my purse. I hadn't eaten in hours and it took almost an hour to get my food so thankfully, I was able to eat my candy bar. The waitress could've been nicer, at one point she said I only have two hands. We did not receive an apology for the wait until the very end which made me think, Maybe she was concerned about her tip. I do have to say the food is very good. They make the best chicken marsala I've had in a long time. I probably will not go back to this restaurant unless my friends want to eat there. If you're hungry and you choose Yosemite station, make sure you have a back up plan like a little snack in your purse or backpack. read more

Two PANCAKES for $14 and no quality at all, Denny's would be a wayyy better option and probably half the price. Quality of food at Yosemite station is hmmm ok (McDonalds/Denny's quality). The menu at this Yosemite Station is horrible. If you are into pancakes with eggs and sausage and hash brow, then don't go to Yosemite. Just the pancakes by it self (2) water quality mix with a bunch of whip cream on top are 14 dollars, if you want eggs add 7 dollars and sausage or hash brown is also extra $$$$..... Paul's Place is now Yosemite Station We stopped for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find out this is the new location for the rebranded "Paul's Place" I miss the quaint charm of the 70s style diner at the old location. The "strip mall eatery" feel that this new location offers is sad; but it was clean and had the same business-card tables and good 70s music in the background. The new location also features barstool seating if you prefer. They have a smaller version of their bakery, stocked with delicious looking pies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls. The pies and rolls are made on site and were tasty! I bought one serving each! The menu is still very large with breakfast served all day. I had the Texas Burger which was served on Texas toast with thick slices of bacon and huge onions rings, all held top with a big steak knife. Very tasty burger patty but I couldn't finish the plate! Took the left over steak fries to go (along with my desserts). Service was good and the prices were very good! We agreed this place should be a regular stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Never been to this place before so here it goes. Order the breakfast enchiladas which are made with eggs and chorizo topped with an enchilada sauce, a little guacamole and some sour cream. They were fantastic. The enchilada sauce they make in-house. I will say that when I got my first order, the enchilada sauce was cold, but when I brought it to their attention, they immediately got me new enchiladas and they were fantastic. The potatoes that come with the dish are large diced red potatoes which were creamy and not overcooked. The potatoes were cooked with red onions and red bell peppers with just a little bit of butter mixed in. They were fantastic. The Portuguese beans, which they also make in-house, were the bomb. The service here was excellent. The only negative thing I will have to say is their coffee is not very good. I thoughat first that it might be the lowest grade of farmers but it was Folgers. Now I am certain that the locals love this coffee, but while I don't need gourmet coffee, I don't want watery weak coffee either. However, that's the only negative thing. Cute little restaurant with wonderful food and great service. My salad was amazing with fresh spring mix. My son has a burger with a pile of fries. My husband had an omelet that he said was really good. I wish there were more places like this. We look forward to coming again the next time we visit Merced. read more
