While I haven't been a member of the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, I have visited it…read moremany times as a part of the community for meetings and events. I have family members who are Valley of the Sun JCC members though. I have always been impressed with their facilities, thought highly of the staff there, and have enjoyed occasional meals at the onsite restaurant. From observing Yom Haatzmaut (Israel Independence Day) and Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) as a community to meetings for one of the organization boards of directors I have served on to the programs that have hosted meetings at the Valley of the Sun JCC like Valley Beit Madrash's Start Me Up Fellowship, I have always felt right at home there. I have also attended resource fairs, exhibit fairs, and travel fairs while getting tested for the Jewish Genetics Diseases Center or going to a special lecture open to the community. I appreciate the security right by the front door as safety is our top priority when coming together as a community. Visit the Valley of the Sun JCC website at https://valleyofthesunj.org where you can learn how to be a member, find out about events and ways to get involved, and so much more. You can also find information about affiliated programming including 92nd Street Live!, ASU Jewish Studies, Jewish Film Club, Phoenix Art Museum, and J Teen Connect AZ, among other groups. The building opened at this location in 2002. The regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 5 AM to 10 PM, Friday from 5 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 7 AM to 6 PM. There are separate holiday hours along with competition pool, activity pool, open court, and pickleball court schedules. Whether it's the sports programs, the education, or the Kosher Milk + Honey Espresso Bar & Eatery, there's something for everyone at the Valley of the Sun JCC. I will be back again soon for another board meeting or event. I'm looking forward to it!

Transparently we have not actually sent our kids to this childcare center however I did tour it and…read morewas beyond impressed with them. The campus itself is super cute and set up very classroom style, which I think is a positive experience for young kids all of the kids and teachers were fully engaged and so happy. They also have a community area for kids to eat lunch to get them used to cafeteria style, which I thought was super cool and their meals are on the healthier side compared to most childcare centers. They additionally have some extracurriculars that you can pay extra for like dance or art for about $10 additional a week. They are on the slightly more expensive side, but honestly very reasonable in comparison to other childcare centers in the valley. If it was a little bit closer to our house or in a more convenient location, we would be sending our children here.

I had my son here for two years and unfortunately it did not work out…read more I do love how friendly the girls are up front (there are some great women there) and it makes for a good atmosphere for the parents but the daycare seemed to have a high turnover rate with teachers and just an underlying toxic tone. I saw one teacher not being very patient or friendly with a child and later she was moved out to help with other activities (thank god). Another younger teacher would stomp past us and not even smile as if she hated us and her job. I understand my son made friends with a boy who seemed to be a troublemaker so he was difficult but the way the school handled it was by putting him up front in time out nearly everyday, and the teacher accosting me and telling me that he needs assessments as if he's special needs and then moving him down to half days only. I left in tears one day because of the way the teacher treated me. We transferred to the Scottsdale School and my son is thriving ! He has been learning SO much, the teachers have been there for years so they don't have a high turnover rate and my son loves going. I feel great dropping him off and they all love my son and he's super popular in school. We have had ZERO issues there. I do realize other people have good experiences here but I just always felt super off and stressed dropping my son off at this daycare. This daycare seemed to have a negative attitude towards my son (which may have been justified because of negative influences) which made for a somewhat threatening environment for him. Just know if a daycare is not working out then you can always find a better environment for your child. Young children are very influenced by other kids in the class so getting them into a different school may be appropriate.
