I absolutely love this place. My daughter has been going to SCG since birth. (She is now almost 8yr.) Nicole B is so great with her. When Nicole would vaccinate my daughter, it was so fast, easy, and she always gave her a long hug afterward. The girls up front know us by name and make a point to greet us with a smile. Dr. Burke is just amazing! She is so patient and kind with not only my daughter but also my husband and I. She takes her time with exams and explains everything to us. I have been taking my kids to this practice for the better part of 13 years. We have loved and appreciated all the staff and doctors. Sadly, we are leaving mainly because Arbor Medical has made things unacceptable, redundant, and unavailable. So, confirming that you went on the app on your arrival to announce that you have arrived digitally, then going up to check in and verify your child is yours with a birth certificate and insurance is the same, listing emergency contact every time you see a doctor, with a side that you cannot contact the doctor if something is not going right. Then this place is for you. If you need to contact a doctor because your kid is not responding, if you want to talk to someone at your child's doctor's office and get the lovely lady up front who remembers you and your child and shows concern that they are sick again. Do not come to this office or any Harbor Medical facility. They want it automated with significant response lag times and a call center to field your calls that input your concerns in the same app. The doctors and nurses care, but the administration is just a disgrace. As a father, I run on a complaint system generated by my wife, and the Post-it complaint board is all topped off, and I am no longer accepting Post-its generated from the kid's doctor's office. read more

I want to share my extreme disappointment with Dr. Kanagal and her office staff. I recently brought in my 8 year old daughter for an appointment because she was having difficulty breathing. As we arrived, we were rudely instructed that we both had to wear a mask while waiting. Mind you, there was nobody else in the waiting room. I told the receptionist that I would wear one, but would not put one on my daughter (who was in because she is having trouble breathing....l'm positive she saw the notes by the appointment) and that we would sit in the corner where nobody was and wait for our appointment . Again, I was told in a rude manner that she NEEDED to wear her mask before being seen. After some back and forth, finally I was told that Dr. Kanagal was refusing to see my daughter because she could not wear a mask. It is outrageous and disgusting for a pediatrician to refuse care for an 8 year old with breathing difficulties (who will take her mask off in the exam room anyways). A pediatrician who chooses to make a point rather than what's in the best interest of a child does not represent the behavior or bedside manner of an ethical doctor. I will also add the next day the mask mandate was lifted and we all knew that was coming. They had notes why we were coming in, I did not know if she was having an asthma attack, or a panic attack? ( The way she was treated started to make her panic more) Dr Kanagal could have chose to put us in an exam room that was available because there was nobody there and we could have waited in isolation!!!! There were so many possibilities. Instead the staff and Dr. Kanagal chose to not see her. I am going to add the photo of her all alone with the mask below her nose crying in the corner. I expect a little bit more compassion coming from an office who works with children. We never argued about wearing a mask in the past at our appointments. This was because my child could not breathe. I left and took all three children out of the pediatrician office and will no longer have Dr. Kanagal as our pediatrician. I had to go to the ER, they never asked her to put on a mask on! This angered me to the point where I considered taking legal action after I got the report from the ER. But instead I'm going to use old fashion reviews and word of mouth. I'm not happy leaving this review. I've been coming to this office since Sept 2021 when my son was born. I even brought my daughter when she was born last year. We started seeing Dr Garrett, but she's either in the process of retiring or has already retired at this point. Then we started seeing Dr Norris for my daughter - she's a very, very sweet woman. She was really looking out for both my daughter and myself in those first few months, and did not hesitate to call my doctor to request I be seen immediately to help with my PPD/PPA. I like her so much and ideally I'd like her to continue to care for both my children. But this office is just terrible, and I hate to say that. I don't know if it's the company overseeing this office (Arbor Medical Partners) or if this goes higher up the ladder, but there is no easy way to get in communication with the doctor. They don't answer the phones, only if you want to schedule an appointment or talk about a bill. There's no transparency regarding the out of pocket charges on their bills, and they confront you to pay when you arrive at a scheduled wellness check up. It's not worth it anymore to deal with this office. read more

My son has been going to Scottsdale Children's Group since he was born. He is now 11. EVERYONE there has always made us feel welcome, always made my son feel special and has always been very kind. We miss Dr. Garrett so much, but wish her the best in retirement! Marybeth is also one of our favorites! My son has been sick since Monday and I was trying to get a prescription filled and there was an issue getting it filled. Long story. Mia, one of the medical assistants, at the Osborn location helped me and was so patient getting me my son's prescription. I called in a couple of days after he was seen (because his lungs just weren't getting better). Then Layla in scheduling also helped a lot because there was an issue at the pharmacy and I had to get in touch with Mia again. The office staff is professional and friendly. Dr Lichtsinn listened to all my concerns and made sure I felt heard as an advocate for my child. Dr. Garrett at SCP is in 1 word - AMAZING!! When I was on the hunt for a pediatrician for Baby C while I was still pregnant, I asked a few of my fellow colleagues where they take/have taken their kids. A lot of them mentioned SCP (both the Shea and Osborn locations). I gave them a call and let them know I was still pregnant, but was looking for a ped for my son when he arrived. I had questions - they happily answered! I had a feeling this was going to be a good match. So fast forward to Baby C's birth. I knew from the moment I learned I was pregnant that I wanted to breastfeed. Our first official day at the birthing suites, in the couplet rooms, on the night shift..I had a nurse from HELL. From manhandling me and Baby C, to belittling my efforts and pushing formula. At 6am, I snapped. I literally lost my shit and went a little nuts, crying hysterically and hyperventilating after the Demon Nurse did her final check on us and got her last rude comment in before she left. Dr. Garrett walked in a minute later. She calmed me down, told me that my body knew what to do (and I needed to trust that and myself), and then proceeded to go report the nurse to the nursing supervisor. From that moment - I knew Dr. Garrett had not only Baby C's best interest but mine (and my parenting plan/wishes) as well. A match made in baby heaven! Now, unfortunately Baby C suffers from a few respiratory ailments. The handful of times I've taken him in, Dr. Garrett is pleased with how my treatment has gone thus far (giving breathing treatments, etc) and she basically trusts my judgment (i have my own resp issues, so I know the drill). Baby C has dodged the hospital admission bullet a few times - because we can get a handle on his breathing and she knows that I'm on the ball with his treatment. But she knows that if I bring him in to be seen, there's a problem. OH - She's also not one of those Drs that will just throw antibiotics at the problem. Not if antibiotics aren't truly warranted. She in fact isn't the kinda Dr to prescribe meds just to appease the patients parents. I know a few parents like that...demanding antibiotics for a basic virus that antibiotics wont do squat for (but help with the problem of antibiotic resistant super-bugs). Oh and the office staff - from the front desk to the nurses are wonderful too!. OH and Mary Beth is an excellent NP!! We've seen her a few times when we couldn't get in to see Dr. Garrett. I can and will shout it from the mountain tops - I love this Peds Office and Dr. Garrett!! :D read more

We would have continued going to her until he was 18 if we hadn't moved out of state. Dr. Kanagal is thorough, kind and gentle. One of the best doctors we have had the good fortune to meet. Dr. Lichtsinn is great! She is calm, knowledgeable, and up to date. She is great with our newborn daughter and has helped us navigate the first few months of parenthood with ease. The office has been very helpful as well. Everyone is friendly and prompt - we haven't had to wait more than 5 minutes past our scheduled appointment time before being called back. My only not positive (but also not necessarily negative) observation is the waiting area isn't very warm and inviting. read more

I have taken my daughter here for a few years. We were recommended by a fellow schoolmate's parent. After seeing the actual doctor a few times and also the nurse practitioner, my daughter and I got to the point where we only wanted to see the nurse practitioner. Her doctor was rude, unfriendly, and just overall bad with children. My daughter would leave feeling horrible because her doctor would body shame her telling her she was too over weight for her age and scare her telling her things like, "if you don't do something now, you will get diabetes". She would cry to me after the doctor would leave the room because she would make her feel so horrible. What kind of a doctor does that to an elementary child?? She was absolutely horrible!! We finally decided to switch offices completely and she loves her new doctor who has no problem with my daughter's weight (because there is none!). I will never recommend Scottsdale Children's Group to anyone. The only reason I am giving any stars is because we actually did like the nurse practitioner, but that wasn't enough to keep us when we had to see the doctor sometimes. read more

My son has been a patient at Scottsdale Children's Group for two years. The only good experience we have had in the practice has been with the Nurse Practitioner. Mary Beth is truly amazing! She cares and wants to help parents that are struggling with their children whether it's health related or behavioral related. I can't say the same for Dr. Garrett. She has an offensive bedside manner, rude and shows not an ounce of sympathy to those who are in need. She has left a nasty voicemail on my cell phone, stating that my son wasn't sick enough to quality for FMLA. It's fine that that was her opinion and when it comes down to it, it is her license that is on the line. I understand that and I am not unreasonable. I work in the medical field and if I treated my patients the way she has treated me I would have been terminated. I'm amazed that there are positive reviews about her. I would not suggest or refer this physician to anyone. Just an update since I posted this. My son has been diagnosed with autism. As parents we put our trust into our children's health care providers. Trusting their judgement and capabilities to diagnosis and treat. Being the procrastinator I am, I needed to find a good pediatrician quickly after I gave birth to my daughter two weeks early. After a little research, I settled on Dr. Garrett at Scottsdale Children's Group. I'm extremely satisfied with my choice. The office staff is super-friendly and set up an appointment for my daughter two days after I initially called (I called Saturday from the hospital; I got an appt, on Monday). When we arrived, there was a short wait time before we were called into the room. Don't worry if you need any extra diapers or wipes; the rooms are well-stocked--nice when your baby decides to poop all over the table. The medical assistants were friendly and even gave me extra time to nurse my daughter in the room after the appointment. Dr. Garrett is wonderful. When I told her that breastfeeding was off to a rocky start, she scheduled a follow-up appt. with me later in the week to see if the situation improved. It did, thanks in part to her suggestions. She is friendly and down-to-earth, unlike some doctors I've dealt with in the past. I have to move to Tucson soon and am sad to have to leave Dr. Garrett. I would highly recommend her to any parents looking for a good pediatrician. read more

The doctor's have lots of credentials, but our doctor didn't have great bedside manner. Never once did our doctor try to get to know our daughter. We felt like we were just another paying customer, get in, get out. There use to be a young lady that worked in the front office that was friendly, but she is no longer there. Other than her, the nurse assistant was always friendly and another lady that works in billing that is always smiling and friendly, but out of all of them that is it. They all appear to hate their job. We took our daughter in because she was sick and they ran a strep test on her and told us that we would get our results in 2 days. They charged us at the end of the visit and said that they would call with the results. One week later and still nothing. We called and they said that they were going to figure out what happened with the results. Needless to say, we will definitely not be going back. read more

The two stars for this review are for Dr Garrett and her medical assistant. The office staff gets zero stars. I left this office shortly after my daughters 18 month check up. (Bout 6 months ago). She had a bad reaction to one of the vaccines that ended us up in the ER and the treatment I got from the nurse practitioner and staff were less than genuine. The staff was never welcoming and during checkout it seemed as if no one ever really knew what they were doing. I stayed because we were established with this office and I liked the Dr. But when you're having to deal with the staff and nurse practitioner more than half the time when you phone call in with any issues, staying was not worth it to me anymore. I do give the managers credit for digging in and trying to resolve the issues I had though it was never going to be enough to get me to stay. Needless to say, I found a very reputable office and Dr and with just a few conversations I had with them already, this mom is more than pleased with my decision. If you're a new mom...please do more thorough research before picking your offices. read more

Dr. Garrett is the absolute best pediatrician we could ask for our new baby. When we first brought our baby in, her growth was a bit slow to start. Breastfeeding was a challenge, we were unsure of the path to follow to ensure our baby was receiving everything she needed. Dr. Garrett provided guidance, suggestions and put our mind at ease. She had a follow up appointment with us a few days later to check in and our baby was already up to where she needed to be! Now that our baby is a few months old, we honestly look forward to our visits with her. We keep a list of questions or concerns, and she always provides us with all of the information to understand our baby's growth, answers any questions or concerns we may have in detail, and provides suggestions to help. The office team is friendly, kind and personable. The office is incredibly clean. We absolutely could not recommend Dr. Garrett and the entire team more! read more

Dr. Garrett has been our pediatrician for 18 years (where did time go?) and for both of our children. We love her and her staff and their approach to healthcare. They take the time to talk about whatever concerns we may have, they don't just shove a prescription at you and shove you out the door. We especially love her NP Marybeth who we see frequently and her MA Vanessa. Anytime I send a message, she gets to back to me within a couple of hours at the most and will bend over backwards to help (even when it isn't necessarily "her job"). We are sad that we will only be able to continue with their practice for another 3 years (when our son turns 18). I could go on and on how they helped two new parents years ago who didn't have any family in the state and were scared over every little thing, to the times they shared our concern or made us laugh about the "normal" (but odd) things our kids have done over the years, but I think you get the message, regardless of if you have a newborn or kids of any age, I would highly recommend Scottsdale Children's Group! read more

I can't say enough about SCG. We have been taking our 4 kids to Dr. Garrett and Marybeth Vaughn for almost 18 yrs now. Just recently Marybeth Vaughn took care of our daughter with a very time sensitive issue just a short week before we had to leave town. I am so impressed how quickly she addressed my daughters needs. We had a same day appt./same day X-ray/ labwork. While we were headed to the lab she called us with X-ray results. She was able to get her an appointment with an orthopedic Surgeon before we left town. She has always been so attentive and caring to our kids. We adore her and so fortunate to have her in our neighborhood. read more

What is the point of being a patient in this office if is you cannot be seen when in need?? Definitely will be looking for a different office. I take my 6 month old to see Dr Garrett and she's amazing! Her MA Vanessa is fantastic also. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for an appointment. The waiting room is clean and comfortable. Dr. Gonzalez is awesome, my son was born in 2001 at Scottsdale Shea and the nurses recommended him. Our daughter was born in 2004 and has taken care of both children. We have been very fortunate to have such a wonderful doctor who cares about them both physically and mentally. He gets to know the children and family. When the children are in for well visits he explains everything so they understand and feel comfortable. He laughs with them and we never feel rushed or just a number. It's hard to find someone this personable when it's all about the numbers now a days. We recently moved to Phoenix and I was so nervous about finding the right pediatrician for our kids. As some background, I come from an extremely coddled pediatric environment where 2 of my best friends that lived within a mile of my house were our pediatricians. Upon first moving to Phoenix, I chose Camelback Pediatrics because it was the closest to our house. I went there a few times and was never satisfied. The doctors were nice and intelligent but I was never happy with the staff and the way my kids were treated. Camelback Peds did not have a kid friendly environment (i.e. Colors on the wall, toys, kids books, tv, etc) and it's a Pediatricians office! A friend recommended Scottsdale Pediatric Group so I tried it. When entering the office, I knew it was the right place. The front office ladies were so kind, a cartoon was playing in the lobby, books were available for the kids to look, there were colorful walls, etc. The awesome customer service continued when we went to the exam room. The nurse was friendly, Dr. Garrett was amazing, our son got a free book and stickers, shots were quick and delicate, I could go on and on. Thanks for making me feel comfortable in your environment! TERRIBLE SCHEDULERS - The doctors here are warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. We love going to them. However, the scheduling ladies are rarely able to accommodate requests for appointments (even serious ones!), and are VERY RUDE in the process. The last two times I called to request appointments, the scheduler couldn't get us in for two weeks and refused to make the second appointment at all, respectively. For a child that sees the doctor one or twice a year, that seems a little ridiculous. Even their 'help hotline' respondent was extremely rude and refused to help, only sent us to the hospital- for an ear infection- and then lied saying there were no Saturday appointments! This place is great, but management should really reevaluate who is representing them on the phone and know about how they are refusing business. They have definitely lost ours. read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Lichtsinn, she is truly a wonderful doctor. She treats my boys like they are her favorite and only patients. She is very informative and I never feel rushed during my visits. One of my boys required a specialist visit to the Urologist almost a year ago, and subsequently surgery. Dr. Lichtsinn got us a same day visit to a specialist (which is unheard of) by calling herself and stressing the importance of the needed appointment due to the pain my child was in. I wholeheartedly believe she has the best interest of her patients at all times. My 3 year old absolutely loves going to doctor, in fact when we drive by their office he asks if we can stop to see Dr. Lichtsinn. If it doesn't speak volumes that a child requests a visit to his doctor, I don't know what does. I have never had a bad experience and their staff is always friendly and helpful. We have had the pleasure of seeing Mary Beth as well and I am very pleased with my interactions with her.. I recommend Scottsdale Children's Group to anyone looking for a pediatrician. read more
