Great experience at Scotty's. They don't make you feel gross like the Chain Stores and dealerships. Straight talk, prices are competitive and best of all they know their craft. Bill was easy to work with. They got 4 new Michelin's on site the next morning and had the vehicle finished when they said it would. I am very particular about my vehicles. I have a Yukon Denali with 22" rims. They are chrome plated so they had internal correction due to the galvanic combination of the aluminum, chrome and steel in the tire. I was also loosing pressure at the bead. They prepped the surface as good as new. Zero scratches on the rims. The vehicle rides like glass at 85 MPH. That (in my opinion) is the true sign of technical mastery. I hate when I had tire service in the past and the vehicle is shaking at 55 MPH and you have to go back for rebalancing. Reasonable service, but more than twice as expensive as NTB. The cost to swap out the mounted winter wheels was $50. Josh said that the cash cost is $40 and $50 when you use a credit card. This shop does not publish their service cost on their website or at the shop. NTB charges $20 for the same and they pack your wheels in their own bags. The best customer services I have received in a very long time! On the Thursday before Christmas, I had an appointment at Firestone to get new tires put on my car. I had called them a week prior to set up an appointment! They (Firestone) said that they had my tires in stock and they would put them aside for me. When I got there, they informed me that they did NOT have my tires and that they could NOT get them! No apologies! I quickly made a few phone calls and found out I was about a mile from Scottys! Not only did they get my tires ordered, and put on for me, but Bill Scott offered me a ride home, so I would not have to take an Uber! I highly recommend this establishment!! What a great place! When I needed a pair of back tires, a friend of mine referred me to Scotty's Tires (which is a 20 minute drive for me). First time going, I got a great deal and they were done within the hour. About 6 months later, I went back to have my front tires replaced. After the tires went on, they cleaned and polished all four of my rims... Is this something new? Midas never did this and they charge more. While this was happening, another customer walks over and tells me her whole family's been going to Scotty's for years. It was absolutely freezing out during winter vacation week the last week in December. The warning light on my Honda Odyssey was on that my tires needed air. And driving was also feeling sluggish. So, I went in search of an air pump...not so easy to find these days. I found one at Speedway, North Reading (I live in Reading) and I proceed to fill the air in my tires ($1.50 for 5 minutes, I think - bring quarters!), when one of the valves snapped right off my tire like glass. (yes, I know now not to fill my tires in -10 degrees F). Don't judge...just giving a review. ;) I looked up all the tire places in the area...based on the reviews on Yelp and the fact that I like to try to shop Local, I decided to go to Scotty's Tire Services. I called to let them know of my tire issue and Bill was friendly and said to bring it right over. [Shout out to AAA for coming to help change my flat tire]. When I got Scotty's (so called because of Bill's last name SCOTT), Bill was super nice and helpful. He made a few suggestions of what tire worked best for my car, for snow, for sound quality and for drivability. I chose the Michelin Defender based on what worked best for me/my car. The waiting room was nice, warm and cozy. Loved the charming touch of a gas fireplace in the corner along with a large TV to keep you occupied while they do your tires. The other gentlemen there (Mike, I think) was also super helpful and nice. They also put my spare tire back in it's place, which is not a very convenient place (between the front and middle seats). My tire was replaced in a timely manner at a fair comparable price. I didn't have to deal with Town Faire Tires' long wait time (at least last time I was there) and the 'salesman' approach to buying a tire that I didn't want or need. By the way...Scotty's Tires is just beyond Dairy Queen on the left going north on Main Street. Thank you to Bill and your team! If I could give Scotty's a 10 star review, I definitely would! After reading through numerous yelp reviews this morning, I decided to give Scotty's a call, seeking a second opinion on my ongoing tire issues. They were super nice on the phone, and I arrived at the shop one hour later feeling extremely hopeful . . . so far, so good! To give you a little history, I have a 2003 PT Cruiser GT which I picked up in May 2014. I was looking for an inexpensive replacement car for my son, but since the PT Cruiser was cute, in excellent condition, and had been driven less miles than my other car, I decided to keep the Pt Cruiser for myself. In December 2014 (a few days before Christmas) I had my first blowout. In January 2015, I purchased two tires at Firestone Complete Auto Care. Over the past 18 months, although I've only driven 9,700 miles (car just hit 70,000 miles) I've gone through 11 tires . . . E L E V E N . . . yes, no mistake . . . I did say 11. I even pulled out my receipts to verify. Tire #10 (installed seven 7 days ago) went flat yesterday morning, causing me to miss my train, find a ride to catch another train, and be late for a conference. Two more relevant points, before I get back to my glorious day at Scotty's: 1) I've continued to go back to Firestone because with the road hazard warranty, replacement cost is next to nothing. 2) The factory wheels on the PT Cruisers are junk, and have well-known issues with peeling chrome causing a loss of air pressure from around the rims. Since this was the second time one of my replacement tires went flat in less than a week, I knew I had to find an expert tire person to help me figure out why this keeps happening. Today's experience with Bill Scott (owner of Scotty's AND my "Night In Shining Armor" who saved the day for me today) truly puts into perspective the benefit of choosing a local independent business that cares about its community members, and takes pride in every single job, no matter if big or small. Not only did I get a crash course in Tires 'n Rims 101, Mr. Scott called over to Firestone on my behalf, threw my tire and rim into the back of his truck, and drove over with me to pick up my new tire. The entire time we were there, the manager dismissed facts from prior discussions as if I were making things up. He also referred to me as "the tire lady" in a "mocking" sort of way while in the presence of Mr. Scott and other staff, as if I were somehow the cause of all these problems. After they took the old tire off the rim, Mr. Scott called over the manager and advised that he might want to provide some additional training for his staff since the tire had obviously gone flat because the technician had completely forgotten to seal up the rim . . . not one single drop of thick black bead sealer on the rim! When we got back to the shop, I watched them re-clean the rim and take the time to chisel off some of the peeling chrome. They explained how some magnets that had been placed on the rim were working against each other because they weren't positioned correctly. I watched them brush on the sealer, mount the tire onto the rim, test for leakage, and fix the few spots where there was a small leak. When I say Scotty's Tire Service goes above and beyond typical customer service, I'm not kidding. Eventually, I'll probably need to purchase a set of new rims. After today, I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. I highly recommend . . . you will not be disappointed! read more

So happy a family member referred my husband and I to Scotty's! We have newer car/trucks but don't like having to go all the way to the dealer a half hour away for oil changes, tire rotation etc. so we love having these guys right down the street. They are always on time when they say they'll be done, the waiting area is clean and the staff is friendly and make you feel welcome! I've had plenty of mechanic shops make me feel like I was being taken advantage of bc Im a female who doesn't don't know much of anything about cars, but Ive never felt that way here; and even more I feel like they take extra care to explain whatever services will be done and why it's necessary, or tell me if I don't quite need a service yet to save me some money or time. Scotty's Tire is my local tire shop, so it's very convenient for me indeed that the closest tire shop to my house is also the best tire shop I have ever used. Bill Scott the owner always gives it straight--he won't try to sell you a tire you don't want or need to make a couple extra bucks. He goes the extra mile for his customers: he worked hard for me once to make a manufacturer back a warrantee that they didn't want to back. It's also a small local business so when I go in there I know I'm going to deal with either Bill or just one or two other people who work for him. But best of all, nobody can touch his prices and speed. No idea how he does it but his prices are better than anyone else around and he will mount those tires, balance them and install them while you wait. About a year ago I went to a local gas station and purchased tires that they installed. A couple months later I noticed one tire a bit low. So I filled it with air. Well it kept going low and in fact I eventually was filling it twice a week (and another started to lose air as well). Anyway after months of filling the tires I finally had a day off and took it to Scotty's. I figured there was a nail in it. He has pulled and plugged nail holes for me in the past. I pulled in and Bill was happy to help. He did a couple of things and told me it was leaking from the rim. He immediately said "did you get these installed at a gas station?" I sheepishly affirmed that I had. He told me that gas station's speciality is filling your gas tank not installing tires. A dead giveaway that they didn't know what they were doing should have been the 5 balancing weights placed all around the tire. Anyway he took the tire off the rim and showed me all the gunk that they never cleaned off the wheel when they put the tire on. He cleaned it with a rotary wire brush and put the tire back on the rim the right way! He then balanced that tire and filled all my other tires. He ever crawled under the SUV to fill the spare. Oh, and the annoying "tire pressure" light that had been on for five years is finally off! read more

Brought my car in for a tire swap and alignment. Right from the start their customer service was subpar at best. The owner Scotty and a technician josh were very rude and unable to provide an estimated wait time. The technician josh broke 2 studs, over Torqued every lug nut causing them to cross thread and did a number to my rims. When asked to replace the broke studs I received an eye roll from josh and an explanation that they don't order these parts I'll have to do that myself. Long story short I paid full price for 2 broken studs and nearly every nut cross threaded plus an alignment that I had to get redone because my car was still misaligned. I was also advised to pay in cash and not by card because of the up charge from the credit card companies (nearly a $100 difference). The reason I can only imagine is too not have a paper trail in the event the work done was not proper. I am only writing this review nearly a year later because i have to get 8 studs replaced due to their negligence. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

They made sure to check for the best price for my needs and found something suitable for me. When I told them I wasn't keeping my car much longer, they made sure to offer a selection with very reasonable prices. They were honest and up-front when they told me the ones I selected would NOT last as long as a better quality tire and wanted me to know this. They also told me which tire they'd recommend if I was selling in 6 months (as I planned) as well as which to choose if I were keeping it. Literally a "Mom and Pop Shop", this place is as good as it gets - honesty, integrity, and know-how, in a local business that you can feel good about supporting. I had a slow leak in a tire and went in pretty much expecting to get sold four new tires, but instead they came back after inspection and said that while all my tires were less than brand-new, they weren't unsafe or ready to be replaced yet, showed me the giant metal object that had been in my tire, explained why it behaved the way it did, and patched the hole within 30 minutes for a price that was WAY below my expectations (I could pay for it with the money I had in my wallet). While I was waiting, I was being entertained in their waiting room by their son who happened to be there in the same window of time after school that late afternoon. This place is great and I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else for tire issues or new tires. (BTW, I'm posting this review about 8 months later, and I've had no problems at all with my patched tire since.) read more
