After parking with total ease outside, I stepped into a wonderfully inviting atmosphere that impressed me immediately. The decor is executed with great style, featuring a charming bar area alongside sophisticated, private dining tables. I opted to be seated at a lovely private table for a quiet, serene meal. The service was an absolute delight attentive, gracious, and utterly professional. My server, a delightful young woman named Sarah, took wonderful care of me and noted their quite impressive wine selection. To begin, I ordered an Espresso Martini, which was mixed to sheer perfection a delightful boost and more than enough to set a splendid tone for a Sunday afternoon. For my main course, I selected the Shrimp Gamberetti. The dish was a complete triumph, remarkably generous with high quality shrimp, beautifully seasoned, and served piping hot. From the stunning decor and pristine ambiance to the exceptional cuisine and flawless service from Sarah, this visit was worth every moment. Full marks I shall most certainly return whenever business brings me back through the area!

A couple of other large parties had the same idea and I was glad we made advance reservations. Staff was attentive throughout. The bread service was a very good Italian type bread loaf slices with olive oil. I would have liked some Italian seasoning to add to it to make it even better. For appetizers my daughter insisted on the Fried Mozzarella Ravioli and I wanted to try the Arancini. Both were excellent! My wife and I decided to split the Seafood Linguini and each got a salad. I chose the Caesar side salad and she wanted the Italian side salad. I was wanting to try their gnocchi but that was the 1 item on the menu the server said that they did not have. (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. Even sharing we were full especially knowing we had cake waiting for us back at the condo. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices as well. I can see why Taste is the go to choice for my daughter and her husband when they want to celebrate.

It proved to be a magnificent decision! From the exterior, the establishment presents an inviting, polished presence, and stepping inside only elevates the experience. The entire venue is impeccably pristine, boasting a wonderfully refined and spotless ambiance. I opted to take a seat at the bar and kitchen area, which features a brilliant, well-appointed setup. The service was prompt, professional, and delightfully warm from the start. The bartender, Hannah, was absolute perfection attentive, gracious, and extraordinarily welcoming. Upon her prompt inquiry, I ordered a Blueberry Minitini, which was mixed flawlessly, crisp, and utterly divine. To accompany my beverage, I selected the Belgian waffle, which arrived with impressive speed. It was beautifully prepared, light, and thoroughly delicious! Between the swift service, spotless atmosphere, and Hannah's top-tier hospitality, Commodore Bob's Yacht Club earns absolute full marks from me. I decided to try the Red Beans and Rice (red beans marinated for 24 hours, simmered with sausage, ribeye, and vegetables, and served over rice). While the ribeye added to the traditional dish, I was not a fan of the overall end result. It actually seemed like the whole dish had been cooked for 24 hours until there was almost no moisture left. The rice part was fine. My son-in-law decided to try the fried catfish I had been considering. While cooked well and had good flavor, the batter was not the expected cornmeal style normally associated with fried catfish. They were also out of the particular beer he had been wanting to try. After multiple attempts to pick one from the menu, the server said it might be easier to show you what we do have on tap. Service on this visit also left a lot to be desired. From the delay taking the order, having to flag a server down for drink refills and even to get the check. It was not busy enough to cause the service we received. We had been before with my daughter and wife and had a much better experience. So I am not sure if things have gone downhill or just an anomaly. The burger I had on the previous visit was very good and the Rosey Chips (house made potato chips) were pretty good too. My daughter is a big fan of their fried pickles appetizer. Will. Give them another shot, yes but there are plenty of other options we will likely go to first.

We opted for bar seating and had water brought to us while we scanned the expansive drink menu. In addition to the signature cocktails, there is a variety of hard liquor, an amazing amount of whiskey, wine, (both red and white) as well as an impressive draft beer menu. It should be noted that there's a whiskey flight for $20 and you get a 1 ounce pour of each whiskey. It looks like there are seven on offer for this special. We didn't try it so cannot offer any more insights on that. We ordered the January gumbo special"Baby Duck Gumbo" - mine as is with chicken and sausage for $9 ( interestingly with okra which is only ever found in seafood gumbo ... at least in Louisiana) and the other with the addition of shrimp for $5 more. We asked for the saltines to be left off as we don't like to waste food and aren't fans of these old school standards. We split the brisket melt on marbled rye instead of Texas toast and left off the American cheese too... yeah we're *those* people... the sandwich comes with a choice of house seasoned fries or potato chips and we ordered the fries. The order arrived together (sigh). I would have preferred the gumbo to come first, then the sandwich, but hey, my mistake I guess I *should've* said something. Of course, I thought it was common sense that it should come in two courses instead of altogether. ... On a brighter not the order came just as we had requested and was a nice presentation. The gumbo was hearty and had plenty of protein albeit more rice than I would've liked. NOTE: if you are not an okra fan, beware. Both of us are good with okra so it was not a problem, but they do have plenty of okra in this gumbo. My dining partner said to skip the $5 add on of shrimp because although they are plentiful, they lack flavor. The sandwich is a decent size and was very tasty too and we both gave it a thumbs up. The fries were still hot and had a nice subtle flavor. Overall we'd give this roadhouse feeling, zany atmosphered little joint on the corner of Old West Point Rd and University a recommendation. The servers could use a refresher on how to greet guests and checking on them at least once during the meal :/ (1 star deduction) Oh, hey, they also have ample outdoor seating which is pet friendly for well behaved dogs.
