While driving through Mississippi to Starkville on business today, I spotted the well known establishment TASTE along the way and decided it was the perfect moment for a proper luncheon. After parking with total ease outside, I stepped into a wonderfully inviting atmosphere that impressed me immediately. The decor is executed with great style, featuring a charming bar area alongside sophisticated, private dining tables. I opted to be seated at a lovely private table for a quiet, serene meal. The service was an absolute delight attentive, gracious, and utterly professional. My server, a delightful young woman named Sarah, took wonderful care of me and noted their quite impressive wine selection. To begin, I ordered an Espresso Martini, which was mixed to sheer perfection a delightful boost and more than enough to set a splendid tone for a Sunday afternoon. For my main course, I selected the Shrimp Gamberetti. The dish was a complete triumph, remarkably generous with high quality shrimp, beautifully seasoned, and served piping hot. From the stunning decor and pristine ambiance to the exceptional cuisine and flawless service from Sarah, this visit was worth every moment. We came here after graduation with our extended family for a late lunch, early dinner since Taste is one of my daughter's favorite places in Starkville. A couple of other large parties had the same idea and I was glad we made advance reservations. Staff was attentive throughout. The bread service was a very good Italian type bread loaf slices with olive oil. I would have liked some Italian seasoning to add to it to make it even better. For appetizers my daughter insisted on the Fried Mozzarella Ravioli and I wanted to try the Arancini. Both were excellent! My wife and I decided to split the Seafood Linguini and each got a salad. I chose the Caesar side salad and she wanted the Italian side salad. I was wanting to try their gnocchi but that was the 1 item on the menu the server said that they did not have. (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. Even sharing we were full especially knowing we had cake waiting for us back at the condo. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices as well. Everything here is excellent. The pastas, salads, apps, and flatbreads. Our faves are the porkchop and redfish. They are hard to not pick every time we go. It's taken awhile to try other entrees because they are so good. The atmosphere and appointments are quite appealing and it makes for a wonderful date night, or celebratory experience. read more

Another great family experience here this afternoon. Bryce did a fantastic job serving us. He was friendly and very helpful. My wife and one daughter enjoyed Pasta Milano and our other daughter had the Chicken Alfredo. I went with the Chicago Beef sandwich with mild giardiniera. It was excellent. I chose a bowl of lobster bisque for my side. The bisque was creamy and delicious. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was very good. However, we were sat in a part of the restaurant that was sort of a subsection? It was freezing so we requested to move inside! Weird that they would sit us here when we've had reservations for months. The drinks were my favorite part of the meal! Super yummy and not too strong. I'm hard pressed to find anything wrong with this place. The food was immaculate. The service was incredible. I've never felt more cared for in a restaurant. The interior was clean and well decorated for the season. Each dish was prepared with care and tasted wonderful. The ambiance is stunning! I loved the white brick building and interior design . The restaurant has a modern look and feel . The service was friendly and prompt . My only complaint regarding the service is the server didn't introduce himself . The cocktails were great ! The lasagna was flavorful and meaty . We started with a round of cocktails and Arancini. I had a smoked Old Fashioned and she had a Banana Whiskey cocktail. Both of us loved our beverages. The arancini was delicious with smoked gouda carrying the flavor and the two dipping sauces were both delicious. We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Mac & Cheese pizza and Philly Cheesesteak. Both of these knocked our expectations out of the water. Both were equally delicious. We had a few more drinks including the El Pepino and a few others and all of the cocktails were on point. The service was exceptional as well. Our server/bartender and I had great banter so much so that my girlfriend joked that I had a new 'best friend'. The cocktails were reasonably priced at $10-12, for craft cocktails this is extremely reasonable. The food prices were also reasonable in my opinion as well. Reasons for the 3 rating are pretty basic: too expensive for area. With the expectation of graduation or family coming to town, most of these students couldn't afford to eat here, or just wouldn't want to pay the prices. 2nd complaint was food was entirely toooooo salty. The salt is an easy correction as are high prices per entree. We had a party of 6 and everyone's meal had way too much salt. I went to the Starkville location to look at the possibility of having an event in their private dinning area. I had called and spoked with management several times, an also left a message that I was coming to the establishment for lunch, with the possibility to view the private area. We were immediately seated which was great, the food was good, even though we didn't get all of it at one time, I received my salad after we had bagged up our leftover, paid the check and was heading out the door. I asked the host to please let the manger aware that I was there and if they had a moment to show me the dinning area, we were there over 2 hours, and the manager NEVER even acknowledged that we were there after we had spoken with the hostess and the server, and no responds from the manger on duty. When we finally decided to leave the hostess stated I can show you the private dinning area, and stated, " you will need to contact the manger via email". I informed her, I had previous spoken with the manger, and that I informed them that I was coming, also she was to let them know that we were there, so why would i need to email them again? That was over 2 weeks ago, and last night I received and email asking if I wanted to use the private space. NO I DON'T THINK SO, I have taken my business somewhere else. I just wanted to provide you a bit of feedback on my experience tonight. Two of us came in tonight to get food to go. We sat at the bar to decide. Brett is excellent--knowledgeable, engaging, friendly. Definitely an asset. He helped us decide on items that would be enough, but not too much. He offered bread to accompany the order and clarified that we wanted plant-based meats on the pizza, but regular cheese. By now I'm excited. Yummy. We chatted at the bar while we waited for the food. When Brett brought the to go order, we thanked him and left. I assume Brett doesn't pack the order, but relies on expeditors to do that. Unfortunately the disappointment set in when we arrived home. No bread. Disappointing considering it was offered and we clarified it would be included.. Also, the pizza had vegan cheese. Not what we requested and not what Brett rang up. Finally, the lemon crème cK I really wanted to enjoy this meal. $60. We didn't enjoy the food, unfortunately. Hopefully next time will be better. read more
