Camphouse Burger & Fries
John S.

Have been looking forward to trying this for a while. Seating is somewhat limited and our party of 3 ended up at a high top table designed for at least 6. Order was taken after a short wait. Not too long but an indication of what to expect as the meal progressed. I decided on the Camphouse Burger and Fries & my vegetarian daughter chose the build your own Mac and Cheese option with Bowtie Pasta, Smoked Gouda, Mushrooms & Tomato. Dad also went with the Burger and Fries. After a much longer wait than anticipated the food arrived. The burger was cooked appropriately Medium as requested. Overall. It was "Just OK". The Mac & Cheese was not very cheesy tasting. (This was daughters 3rd time trying various combinations and other options was just as disappointing on the cheese level). In addition to the slow service, the table was near the outdoor seating access door and every time the door opened a heavy overwhelming secondhand smoke settled over us. Overall a disappointing experience that we will be unlikely to return. Too many other options in the area.

Came here on Sunday morning for their Brunch. Short menu but the food did not disappoint. Mimosa's we're also quite tasty! We've had lunch and now breakfast! Very happy with this establishment.

For me the chicken Alfredo was amazing. I loved everything about it. My grandmother got the catfish tacos and the tortillas tasted and felt like rubber. It was very dry and tasted old.My cousin got the smash house and it was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like straight onion and was burnt. I only recommend the Alfredo. The service is slow too. THEY CHARGE YOU FOR WATER. THE WATER LITERALLY COMES IN A CUP. WHAT

First day in Starkville on business and this was the way to kick it off! Self-seating indoor and out with very nice college town ambiance. Someone at the table ordered the Nachos and they were great! Heaps of fresh toppings with warm crisp chips. I ordered the patty melt and I have to say I would be hard pressed to name a better sandwich I have had in recent memory. Thick juicy patty on marble rye with sloppy gooey melts cheese. Light peppery flavor and the cheese was soooo good! It came with standard fare French Fries that were a little bland. You know when you overcook fries and they are really just a hollow potato stick. Yeah...that. My cohorts had the Reuben which was almost too good looking to eat, mac-n-cheese was really good but don't get the spicy..everything tastes like Cajun seasoning now. Overall I am pretty sure this is going to be my go to lunch joint when I am in the area.

My coworkers enjoyed their food, however my experience was a little different. I order a patty melt medium rare and it came out as a dry hockey puck. I tried to eat it. But it was so charred that it was inedible.

Ribeye and potato smash!

Without being paranoid, The Camphouse is being Pandemic Conscious. Their service was excellent, only being outdone by their food. I usually have some 57 on standby, and it wasn't needed. The ribeye I had was of too quality, perfectly cooked, and topped with Worcestershire infused butter. The accompanying potato smash could have been a meal by itself. If you haven't been to The Camphouse, go! You will not be disappointed.

We sat at the bar because it was just the two of us and I had a French 75 and my husband had an old-fashioned. It was by far the best 75 I've ever had! The bartender was by herself and she was working her tail off! There was not a lot of servers, and it was later in the evening, but our bartender was fabulous! She was also our waitress. Started off with the martini mini board. A variety of cheese, nuts, and meats. It was very good for a starter. Not too much and a fun choice to share. We were not a fan of the dried apricots, but ate everything else. We then shared the pesto chicken flatbread. Crisp and warm. Would definitely get again. It was towards the end of the night and some of the staff gathered around the bar and started chatting with us. We told them we were from Baton Rouge. And got on the topic of football. Fun times and getting to know the staff. Our bartender ended up being in the same sorority as our daughter. It was a great evening. We will definitely be back! And highly recommend! Hail State!

A couple of other large parties had the same idea and I was glad we made advance reservations. Staff was attentive throughout. The bread service was a very good Italian type bread loaf slices with olive oil. I would have liked some Italian seasoning to add to it to make it even better. For appetizers my daughter insisted on the Fried Mozzarella Ravioli and I wanted to try the Arancini. Both were excellent! My wife and I decided to split the Seafood Linguini and each got a salad. I chose the Caesar side salad and she wanted the Italian side salad. I was wanting to try their gnocchi but that was the 1 item on the menu the server said that they did not have. (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. Even sharing we were full especially knowing we had cake waiting for us back at the condo. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices as well. I can see why Taste is the go to choice for my daughter and her husband when they want to celebrate.

We enjoyed it then but she doesn't think the regular hummus has enough flavor. I like the Traditional Gyro (Gyro meat, lettuce, onion & tzatziki) but normally leave the onion off for personal preference. The side of Seasoned Fries are fried perfectly and seasoned well. Granch dressing for dipping makes them even better. My vegetarian daughter loves the Falafel Gyro! We also tried the Pita Mozz appetizer (pita, mozzarella, granch dressing). Pretty good but not a must have. On our most recent visit the service was not good at all. After being told that the drink menu board was not correct and they haven't bothered to update it for a while, my daughter asked for a sweet tea instead. Once our food was brought out they asked do you need anything else and she mentioned to them that she was still waiting on it, they said they would send the server by. Eventually the server made their way back by and she told him she was still waiting on it and he apologized and went to get it but did not immediately return. He apologized when he did make it back and again when he brought the check saying that it was busy. There were only a few other tables and they did not seem to be having similar issues with their servers. The food is good enough that we will likely return at some point but probably will not be high on our list.
