    Neapolitan Style Crust
    Kelly C.

4 Stars- A local pizza joint that caters to college students, locals and visitors. An open area where there are at least 20 tables or more configured with chairs or lounge seats. There is at least 12 seats at the Bar where you can watch the pizza and other items being made or order your drink. 4 Stars Service- when you walk in you are greeted by a person at the front counter. The person will hand you a menu and you can sit down anywhere you like or ORDER immediately. If you are a first timer this can be somewhat confusing or slightly irritating because there might be a big line when you are ready to order. With that said, the staff (4 stars) were friendly, helpful and accommodating during the order process and bringing our refreshments and food. Be a "first timer" we ordered several pizzas to try. Overall: 4 Stars 1. Kitchen Sink - $20.00 Tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, black olives, red onion, and bell pepper 2. Pepperoni - $14.00 Tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, garlic, oregano 3. Margherita - $14.00 Tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, garlic, oregano, parmesan cheese 4. SLAP YA MOMMA - $17 Tomato sauce, mozzarella, soppressata, basil, chili infused honey, garlic, oregano, parmesan All pizzas were cooked in authentic Italian pizza oven and the crust was cooked to perfection. It is a - Neapolitan style which is a thin crust. Due to high heat from the fire and open oven, the pizza was slightly charred which is what you want for this style. DON'T ASK FOR THICK OR REGULAR CRUST cuz you won't get it! With that said you won't be disappointed. All pizzas were really good and the toppings and tomato based were fresh and seasoned well. Best way to eat the slices are with the hands. Forgo the utensils and use your God given hands to fold the pizza and delivered it to your salivating mouth. Now rating each pizza is on personal opinion but we all agreed the Kitchen Sink is yummy and satisfying. The others held on their own with their delicious and fresh toppings. Appetizer: get the BRUSSEL SPROUTS - $8 Flash fried brussels tossed in a sweet balsamic glaze. Finished with sesame seeds They were caramelize and the glaze covered each of the halved Brussels sprouts nicely. Add some red pepper flakes for a little bit heat. Will definitely come back for the pizza due to Neapolitan style cooking. Also get a local hard cider or beer while you wait. Just don't arrive when it is "game day" unless you like to wait for a while.

My favorite game day spot! Fresh amazing ingredients. The only pizza that doesn't leave me feeling sick! Love boardtown!

I take everyone who comes in town here. The slap ya mama pizza is the best pizza I've had in my entire life. Get the hummus plate and a drink too! Everything is good.

Pizza was good and hot, the flavors were so good! I got the pepperoni (i always try a pepperoni pizza for the first time I go to a new pizza place) and they nailed it! You seat yourself and then once you're ready to order, you go up to the front and the staff member puts it in. They were so nice and friendly. The restaurant itself has a cool, laid-back kind of feel to it. Casual. Very good place for an afternoon bite, or even an evening get together with friends/family/partner.

Pizza: Drunken butcher..... notice the length of melted cheese that stayed attached from the first slice

The food was... IS amazing as always! 15 out of 10 would definitely recommend. Great prices, great staff and everything is definitely worth it. Hard to find handcrafted oven cooked pizza that's actually worth something. The food was on the table for five minutes, and notice how half of it's already gone.... That says it all!

The bartender was by herself and she was working her tail off! There was not a lot of servers, and it was later in the evening, but our bartender was fabulous! She was also our waitress. Started off with the martini mini board. A variety of cheese, nuts, and meats. It was very good for a starter. Not too much and a fun choice to share. We were not a fan of the dried apricots, but ate everything else. We then shared the pesto chicken flatbread. Crisp and warm. Would definitely get again. It was towards the end of the night and some of the staff gathered around the bar and started chatting with us. We told them we were from Baton Rouge. And got on the topic of football. Fun times and getting to know the staff. Our bartender ended up being in the same sorority as our daughter. It was a great evening. We will definitely be back! And highly recommend! Hail State!

A couple of other large parties had the same idea and I was glad we made advance reservations. Staff was attentive throughout. The bread service was a very good Italian type bread loaf slices with olive oil. I would have liked some Italian seasoning to add to it to make it even better. For appetizers my daughter insisted on the Fried Mozzarella Ravioli and I wanted to try the Arancini. Both were excellent! My wife and I decided to split the Seafood Linguini and each got a salad. I chose the Caesar side salad and she wanted the Italian side salad. I was wanting to try their gnocchi but that was the 1 item on the menu the server said that they did not have. (Unfortunately I didn't't find out until after I tried to order and had my mind set on it) There was a good amount of seafood but 1 more shrimp would have made it much easier to split evenly. Even sharing we were full especially knowing we had cake waiting for us back at the condo. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices as well. I can see why Taste is the go to choice for my daughter and her husband when they want to celebrate.

We opted for bar seating and had water brought to us while we scanned the expansive drink menu. In addition to the signature cocktails, there is a variety of hard liquor, an amazing amount of whiskey, wine, (both red and white) as well as an impressive draft beer menu. It should be noted that there's a whiskey flight for $20 and you get a 1 ounce pour of each whiskey. It looks like there are seven on offer for this special. We didn't try it so cannot offer any more insights on that. We ordered the January gumbo special"Baby Duck Gumbo" - mine as is with chicken and sausage for $9 ( interestingly with okra which is only ever found in seafood gumbo ... at least in Louisiana) and the other with the addition of shrimp for $5 more. We asked for the saltines to be left off as we don't like to waste food and aren't fans of these old school standards. We split the brisket melt on marbled rye instead of Texas toast and left off the American cheese too... yeah we're *those* people... the sandwich comes with a choice of house seasoned fries or potato chips and we ordered the fries. The order arrived together (sigh). I would have preferred the gumbo to come first, then the sandwich, but hey, my mistake I guess I *should've* said something. Of course, I thought it was common sense that it should come in two courses instead of altogether. ... On a brighter not the order came just as we had requested and was a nice presentation. The gumbo was hearty and had plenty of protein albeit more rice than I would've liked. NOTE: if you are not an okra fan, beware. Both of us are good with okra so it was not a problem, but they do have plenty of okra in this gumbo. My dining partner said to skip the $5 add on of shrimp because although they are plentiful, they lack flavor. The sandwich is a decent size and was very tasty too and we both gave it a thumbs up. The fries were still hot and had a nice subtle flavor. Overall we'd give this roadhouse feeling, zany atmosphered little joint on the corner of Old West Point Rd and University a recommendation. The servers could use a refresher on how to greet guests and checking on them at least once during the meal :/ (1 star deduction) Oh, hey, they also have ample outdoor seating which is pet friendly for well behaved dogs.

Granch dressing for dipping makes them even better. My vegetarian daughter loves the Falafel Gyro! We also tried the Pita Mozz appetizer (pita, mozzarella, granch dressing). Pretty good but not a must have. On our most recent visit the service was not good at all. After being told that the drink menu board was not correct and they haven't bothered to update it for a while, my daughter asked for a sweet tea instead. Once our food was brought out they asked do you need anything else and she mentioned to them that she was still waiting on it, they said they would send the server by. Eventually the server made their way back by and she told him she was still waiting on it and he apologized and went to get it but did not immediately return. He apologized when he did make it back and again when he brought the check saying that it was busy.
