I tried this place based the good reviews and they were correct. I started with the Brussel sprouts, which I loved and moved on to the All Caps pizza with chicken for my main course and it was delicious. 5 stars would definitely be in order but the payment/service order is a bit off for me. You order, pay and tip all before being seated. I get this for take out but for dine in it's odd. Then you get your own drinks and refills. There were multiple people around the hostess desk just chatting but you do everything yourself. I would Have tipped more if they actually "waited" on the customers. The restaurant was very nice and the food was great, just wish they offered true wait staff for dine in. read more

4 Stars- A local pizza joint that caters to college students, locals and visitors. An open area where there are at least 20 tables or more configured with chairs or lounge seats. There is at least 12 seats at the Bar where you can watch the pizza and other items being made or order your drink. 4 Stars Service- when you walk in you are greeted by a person at the front counter. The person will hand you a menu and you can sit down anywhere you like or ORDER immediately. If you are a first timer this can be somewhat confusing or slightly irritating because there might be a big line when you are ready to order. With that said, the staff (4 stars) were friendly, helpful and accommodating during the order process and bringing our refreshments and food. Be a "first timer" we ordered several pizzas to try. Overall: 4 Stars 1. Kitchen Sink - $20.00 Tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, black olives, red onion, and bell pepper 2. Pepperoni - $14.00 Tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, garlic, oregano 3. Margherita - $14.00 Tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, garlic, oregano, parmesan cheese 4. SLAP YA MOMMA - $17 Tomato sauce, mozzarella, soppressata, basil, chili infused honey, garlic, oregano, parmesan All pizzas were cooked in authentic Italian pizza oven and the crust was cooked to perfection. It is a - Neapolitan style which is a thin crust. Due to high heat from the fire and open oven, the pizza was slightly charred which is what you want for this style. DON'T ASK FOR THICK OR REGULAR CRUST cuz you won't get it! With that said you won't be disappointed. All pizzas were really good and the toppings and tomato based were fresh and seasoned well. Best way to eat the slices are with the hands. Forgo the utensils and use your God given hands to fold the pizza and delivered it to your salivating mouth. Now rating each pizza is on personal opinion but we all agreed the Kitchen Sink is yummy and satisfying. The others held on their own with their delicious and fresh toppings. Appetizer: get the BRUSSEL SPROUTS - $8 Flash fried brussels tossed in a sweet balsamic glaze. Finished with sesame seeds They were caramelize and the glaze covered each of the halved Brussels sprouts nicely. Add some red pepper flakes for a little bit heat. Will definitely come back for the pizza due to Neapolitan style cooking. Also get a local hard cider or beer while you wait. Pizza was good and hot, the flavors were so good! I got the pepperoni (i always try a pepperoni pizza for the first time I go to a new pizza place) and they nailed it! You seat yourself and then once you're ready to order, you go up to the front and the staff member puts it in. They were so nice and friendly. We intentionally got there early with plenty of time to wait. Planned on having some beers/drinks outside while we waited then sit down to eat. The whole time they were selling pizzas to go from the bar. I watched one guy walk out at about 6pm with 6 pizzas. This is not a way to run a business. It is a big SEC game day with another school that is not a long distance away. This should tell you that you are going to be busy. You should not be selling food for take away when you have customers dining in your restaurant that you cannot serve. Dinning in is where you have people order appetizers, drinks, desserts. This is where your servers make great tips. This is the difference between fast food and a restaurant. read more

Just moved to the area and heard great things about this place. Beer selection was FANTASTIC. Pizza was just okay for the price. The fries were surprisingly delicious. The low rating is due to the mediocrity of the pizza and service of the staff. It took 20 minutes after we ordered to get 2 beers, and it was not busy. As someone who has worked in the food industry, there was no reason for the wait to be that long. The staff overall was non attentive, slow, and had an attitude overall of not caring. When I asked for a side of ranch, an employee informed me it would be an extra charge. I told her that was perfectly fine, as we had an open tab. Not even an exaggeration, it took them 20 MINUTES for a cup of ranch (and I had to ask twice for it). They were all huddled and talking with each other with zero regard for the very few customers they had. The vibe and ambiance was cool and sporty. I just came from NYC, and this is the closest pizza to match it! A firewood pizza oven is in its own class when it comes to producing pizza and the taste that goes with it! Personally, I had the All Caps, a mushroom pizza and it was delicious and super fresh. I also had the fire roasted brussel sprouts, which were delicious! My only critique would be to cool the sprouts for a shorter time- but that's only because I like my sprouts crunchy and not as cooked. Otherwise, the restaurant is a cool space, and everyone is super nice. The owner/chef, Tyler, was very personable and was happy to give me some extra basil to go with my pizza (I love basil!) and I can see the passion behind his cooking and his restaurant. Kudos to him! Not worth it. You pay AND tip when ordering food. Then you get your own drink. Food is brought to your table. We ordered the Greek pizza. The pizza was burnt and completely flavorless. The chicken was rubbery, the artichoke hearts were tough and chewy. And the feta had no flavor. The staff was just standing around and talking. No one came to check on us at any point. We couldn't decide between Boardtown Pizza and Bulldog Burgers, but the hour wait at Bulldog made the decision for us. We had to order at the counter (I'm not sure if this is the norm), and there was a system for order by your phone that we didn't use. We were a little surprised that there was no option to order a "make your own toppings" pizza. There are eleven choices for pizza and a bunch of beer choices. My wife and I got the Americana to share. It was not great. The crust was soggy and May have been undercooked. Conversely, the cheese seemed overcooked and there were large burned spots along the outer crust (this may have been by design.) Despite its unsatisfying texture, the pizza tasted ok. My daughter and her boyfriend got the Margherita, and they liked it. The ranch dipping sauce was very good. The staff was friendly and patient. My daughter's boyfriend wanted to make sure that I mention that the beer was very reasonably priced, but having to walk up to the bar to order another beer limited our beer intake. The price of our meal was not bad either. The atmosphere didn't really match the food. It's very loud with sports bar vibe. This doesn't see, to go with artisanal pizza on the menu. With other pizza options in Starkville, I probably won't come back here again. read more

Boardtown is very much welcome in the area. It's the only Neapolitan style pizza place within an hour at least. That said, the prices are quite high for what you get in every aspect. We had the Brussels appetizer and they looked and tasted like they had been steamed and them put in the oven. They were OK but not really what was expected. The pizza we had was also good but overall, this is a pretty spendy place and the quality isn't quite what you'd expect. It's also very amusing and frustrating to see so many reviews by people who don't understand how Neapolitan style pizza is and how it looks. read more
