I'm not sure what kind of business can get away with telling a customer TWICE that something is covered and then just randomly backing out at the last second but it's certainly not one that I'll continue giving my money to. Now I have the pleasure of spending the day searching for new auto insurance because this isn't a matter of policy, it's a matter of failing to deliver on a promise that was made by TWO different employees and a "manager" stepping in and reneging at the last second. I was quoted approximately $516 per month for commercial coverage. Because that cost made the opportunity impractical, I never moved forward. I never completed a single delivery, and I earned no delivery income. Despite that, simply requesting a commercial insurance quote--and never completing the application or using my vehicle for deliveries--resulted in GEICO deciding to cancel my long-standing auto policy. What was most upsetting was the wording of the cancellation letter itself. It stated as fact that I "use" my vehicle for deliveries, which is unacceptable under the policy. That statement is simply untrue. I never used my vehicle for deliveries, and I can document that I completed zero deliveries and earned zero income. As a customer of many years, I expected the opportunity to clarify the facts before such a serious decision was made. Instead, I was left feeling that simply asking how to comply with GEICO's insurance requirements before accepting any delivery work ultimately led to the cancellation of my policy. I am deeply disappointed by how this situation was handled and by the lack of consideration given to the actual facts. Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend GEICO.
