Such a cute place for a delicious breakfast! The service was fast and presentation of the food was beautiful. You have to try the french toast!!

We went to Scram as it looked nice and was very close to where we were staying. We went early on a Thursday morning before our train ride out of Edinburgh. The place was mainly empty but quickly filled up. The restaurant was nicely decorated but had a steep step that almost caused me trouble. I had the Lotus French toast and a Scone on the side. The French toast was very good and sweet with fresh fruit and biscoff sauce. This paired nicely with my americano coffee. The portions were large and I definitely could have skipped the scone. We did have some trouble getting the bill as the place filled up. Overall, not a bad place to grab a quick bite.

Amazing eggs royale at Scran this morning. Great morning in Edinburgh. Poached eggs on toast with smoked salmon and holledaise.

Burgers were good but the basic burger was okay. Sweet potato fries were good. Onion rings were good. Service was friendly and quick.

Before heading to Edinburgh, my friend and I heard good things about The Scran, so we tried it out first day there. Needless to say, we have been back daily. They have great coffee and for a quick brunch or bite during the day, the food is really good. This visit, I had the Roll, which you can pick the toppings you want for it. I got bacon, egg and cheese. All were freshly made. My friend and I have been getting the cappuccino every day, and I would highly recommend it. A must try if you are in Edinburgh. Take a seat outside if the weather is nice, avoid the hallway seating since it is a wind tunnel.

We had breakfast at Scran this morning. We ordered an americano, latte, lotus French toast, Eggs Benedict and fruit scone. The lotus French toast and Eggs Benedict were very good. If you are with another guest I recommend splitting a savory and sweet meal so that it doesn't become too much for you. My husband really enjoyed the Lotus French Toast but was over the sweetness by the time he finished it. Plates are fairly large so you really don't need to get additional items on the side. Service was quick however we did have to ask for the bill 3 times before we actually received it. Restaurant is cute and nicely decorated. We went in for breakfast at 9:30am and had no wait. If you are staying nearby I would recommend trying this place out!

Typical British fare for breakfast. The particular breakfast place we ordered was a "Scottish breakfast" - I would say the difference to a "British breakfast" would be the addition of haggis and potato taffies. Nothing in particular to write home about. Service was good, and the location is convenient- close to the royal mile. We also ordered a mimosa and a soya latte. The soya latte tasted water down, but that might just be a local practice. The mimosa on the other hand was more champagne than oj.

French toast with berry compote and vanilla marscapone

I'm usually one to order more savory items for breakfast, but something told me I needed to try the French toast here. Let me say that I am so glad I strayed from my norm, the food was amazing!! It came with two thick slices of brioche, a berry compote, and a to-die-for vanilla marscapone on top. I swear I could have eaten a bowl of that marscapone with a spoon. I was only able to finish half and was in a food coma when we left. If you are thinking about trying the French toast, don't think twice, just do it. Oh, and the waitress was amazing!

We got here at 6 with no reservation. We were able to be seated upstairs. This place is busy (much busier when we were finished for sure). So if you can, I'd suggest reserving a spot. It's a bit loud in here. Not out of the ordinary for a busy place. We started with the pressed pork belly app. Perfect crisp. Could've used more of the celeriac puree bed. The confit shallots were so good and nicely sweet. Black pudding cubes (small. More of these!). Candied pears. Mmm. Great start. Wife got the char grilled venison on a butternut squash purée and spicy daikon planks (I didn't find the heat, she did tho!). It was excellent and perfectly prepared. Not gamey at all. I got the 35 day aged hangar steak. This is hands down one of the best steaks I have had out in a very long time. So well seasoned! Which was such a pleasant surprise as it left me wanting for nothing to add flavor. The hand cut fries were good but did need some salt. No dessert as, well, our server was scattered a bit all night. We asked for the dessert menu. She brought us dinner menus and we didn't see her for 10 minutes. So we opted to leave, a bit disappointed at the end. We would come back tho. Thats for sure.

The menu offers everything from light seafood salads to hearty steak dishes, to a few veggies options that leave nothing to be desired. Yes, they serve haggis, too, and I have to say, it wasn't bad, even for my first-timer's palate. They fry it up and serve it in ball form, so the taste is mild and appealing. However, was told by this girl that they didn't have a seat for us. Although there was no wait, no one ahead of us and empty tables. The hostess then says it's going to take longer and that we must wait outside the restaurant. We tell her it's cold, and we've been waiting. She then says ... "This isn't going to work, I'm not serving you. You guys can leave." She did not want to serve of us this entire time! She could have told us when we first walked in, but made us wait and walk around outside in the cold rain with a 2-year old and an 88-year old ... then decides she doesn't want to serve us. We walked in at 6:50pm, came back at 7:30pm, waited until 7:45pm when she told us she wouldn't serve us. By this time all the other restaurants were fully reserved or with 1-2 hour waits. We ended up not able to have dinner that night, and got snacks from the grocery store. DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! NEVER TREATED THIS BADLY BY A RESTAURANT!
