This place is terrific. Excellent beer of multiple varieties. Particularly liked the peanut butter stout and the honey wheat beer. So good I took some home. The pizzas are great as well. My wife liked the spinach-artichoke dip a lot. The family that runs Screech Owl couldn't be nicer people either. We spent a good 20 minutes chatting with the chef and his nephew that waited our table. Really kind people. Can't wait to go back. read more

Third trip. This place has a vibe. It's super fun and well worth the trip off the highway or from Pittsburgh or Morgantown or the DMV it's a fun day trip near coopers rock and other attractions. We have had a few things but pepperoni rolls, elk and pulled pork really stand out. Best pulled pork I've ever had. Awesome flavor, lean and moist. Mack and cheese get a thumbs up too. Haven't had a bad meal yet. Beers are all very good with something for everyone. Some are a little different and are amazingly good. Service is Mexican resort level! I loved this brewery/ restaurant. My family comes here often, but this was my first time. They always rave about it, so I was very excited to try it out. We dined here on a Saturday afternoon between lunch and dinner time. We had 5 people and were sat right when we walked in. The girls and guys who work here are EXTREMELY kind and welcoming. One of the chefs, may have been the owner, was even walking around to the tables to be sure everyone was enjoying their food. The decor around the restaurant fits the vibes perfectly. There are also chickens, turkeys, guinea hens, and peacocks on the property. Once you sit down, you scan a QR code to order your food and drinks. It was very simple and the website was easy to navigate. The employees make sure that you are not confused with the website and how to order. They offered their assistance multiple times. Once I sent the order in, the food and drinks came out very quick. We ordered a couple appetizers, a pizza, and wings. Each of our items were very good. My mother loves the Chubby Dip. I really enjoyed the soft pretzel sticks. They are made with their spent grain bread which makes them unlike any other restaurant I have been to. The wings were good too, I just wish they were a little more crispy. I did add a note on our order to cook them until they are extra crispy, but I am not sure if the chefs saw it. Either way, I enjoyed them! As for the beer, I loved all of the ones I tried. I always have a great time trying new beer, especially when it is brewed locally. My favorite part was being able to order a "half" beer. This way, I was able to try more than one! I can not wait to come back! read more

Our first visit to Screech Owl but will be back . A cool unexpected jewel not far off Interstate 68 that was a great experience . First time there and was greeted at the door like an old friend . Staff was attentive and very accommodating. Had heard from others this place was good and it didn't disappoint. Special that week was the Big Kahuna you could get either on a sandwich or pizza . We tried it on pizza and was very good . Also ordered the pulled pork nachos and I ordered the Yellowstone which was one of the best tasting steak sandwiches I have had . Didn't get to try the draft beers but hope to on another visit . Decor and seating gives one the feel of a home town, friendly hangout that you want to come back to next week. Great place in Preston County for good food, great beer, and wonderful friendly ambiance. If you go more than once you are treated like a regular and welcomed with smiles and good cheer. Food servings are plentiful and delicious with all bread products made from the used up grains left after the brewing process (what a tasty way to recycle!) As a vegetarian I am happy to report that the pizzas and soup and salad are terrific. My meat-eating family is equally delighted with the steak sandwiches, burgers, and pulled pork offerings. On Friday nights the menu is enlarged to include steak and a grilled fish plate such as tuna. Tables are wooden, there are crayons for the kids, and if weather permits, you can sit outside. Of course, the best aspect of all is the delicious beer! An ever-changing menu of house-made brews delight the palate with varieties to suit every preference. My aunt and uncle live near Screech Owl, and have been telling us how amazing it is for a while. So, when we visited, we had to stop by! We went Friday night to try the beer, and it was all phenomenal. Our favorites were the Class IV Zinger and Buckwheat Honey Porter, but we enjoyed everything we tried. The owner and his wife greeted us and chatted for a bit, and were so personable and friendly! It was easy to see why my aunt and uncle enjoy this place so much! We went back with more family and friends on Saturday for lunch, and the food was just as good as the beers. We had white pizza and the Yellowstone sandwich, which were both insanely good! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun, family atmosphere to enjoy some good brews and food! read more

This is an excellent brewery located in Bruceton Mills, WV! It is kind of hidden and a little ways of the exit but is definitely a stop that needs to be made. I originally came to the brewery when they only had a small tasting area and chairs to sit on the porch with, they offered popcorn and homemade pepperoni rolls. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, excited to talk about their products and how the beer is made if you asked. I came back almost a year later for a third time to see the new expansion and spent grain cafe. They are still brewing excellent beer and still making my favorite pepperoni rolls in WV. The bread is made from the spent grain during the beer making process and is a must try! read more

I guess I was expecting a brewery with good beer, and some foods as a side. Beer was amazing, My favorite was the Irish Red. The Porter tap beer was also very good. Food was amazing, Atmosphere was amazing (Had live music today), service was great. We had the cuban pulled pork tortillas. When they came out, I was shocked at the size and the presentation. You got 3 huge tacos, pulled pork, cabbage, diced cukes, onions, guac, sour cream, along with bowl of black beans, a large side of nachos with fresh salsa. $14.00 If we had been to Deep Creek Lake, Md, a local hotspot, it would have easily been 23 or 24 dollars. They make their own breads from the grains from their brewing process. Have burgers, very nice looking pizzas, along with desserts. They also have animals at their locale for viewing, playground for children. Be aware they are pretty far out in the country, small roads, maybe 20 minutes from I68. It looked like my friends were driving me into the middle of Nowhere- ( which they were !!) It turns out that our trek off the grid was totally worth it!!!! The beer alone was worth the drive ( beer flights are a good place to start ) the Blonde Ale was my fav. It's a family run place. Roger and his son Jameson work hard to make sure everyone is made to welcome. Jameson smokes the meats and his wife is the only licensed female brewmaster in WV. This lady knows her stuff - great brews !! Our favorites- pulled pork sandwich with a double order of scalloped potatoes - Don't miss the scalloped potatoes!!! Get there early - the place is popular- it might take awhile to get your order- but as long as the beer keeps coming- I'm Ok with that. My husband and I recently decided to give this hidden gem a shot. Let me just say, they did not disappoint! The staff is super friendly, very welcoming, and attentive. While the location is off the beaten path and somewhat difficult to find, it's more than worth it. Just follow the directions on their website, not your GPS, Waze, or google maps. We decided to get a flight of their craft beers. I must say I was quite impressed. They have eight beers on tap and you get to try all eight for just $6! The food was delicious, too! We decided to try a variety given the fact that it was our first time. Their burgers are amazing! The smoked ribs are equally delicious. The mac n' cheese is to die for! Woowee, we took only the trails Big Foot would take to get here but it was worth it with the fresh spelt homemade pizza and kick ass good beer. The owners live next door and are super nice- even gave the kids free ice cream cones. So welcoming from beginning to end, didn't kick us or anyone out and say they were closing at 8- they happily chatted us up on until after and didn't rush us to finish our food even though we arrived a tad bit after the kitchen was closing. The beer was spot on, we even took some of the blond ale to go. Loved the swag. Bought some cool shirts and they have amazing handmade pottery mugs/steins that we had to pick up as well. Gotta find a better way to get there when visiting Terra Alta. Like the website said- don't trust or follow GPS- we were those people that did just the opposite and regretted every minute of it but thankfully the sweet folks told us how to get back and it was a much more peaceful commute back! What a great family-owned place! I keep meaning to take pictures of the beer and food, but it's gone as soon as we get it Haha! I will add some photos on my next review. I typically ride my buggy up to this place it's back in the sticks a little but it's perfect, honestly, I think my only complaint if I had to be picky would be the tables only because they have barstools on low top tables but that didn't affect my experience. So you walk in and it is incredibly homey and all of the staff are welcoming! We sat at the bar and this pure-bred stallion of a man named Jameson with a magnificent beard took our order and everything was incredible I will always try and support local business because it is exactly what a state like this needs in my opinion! read more

Owner came to our table multiple times to chat, brought some food to pacify our fussy baby and even gave my toddler free juice. We stopped in on a beautiful sunny day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. First of all, it's a brewery obviously so they have beer. My husband has had their beer before and enjoys most of them so he was pleased. I am not a beer person, but unfortunately they don't have other alcoholic options. A nice glass of wine would have been perfect. So just a heads up in case you are looking for that sort of thing. We had the chubby dip and it was good. Not great. But, good. We had the pepperoni rolls. Now those were great. Their bread is very sweet so keep that in mind. I'm not a huge fan of that, but I thought it was good with the pepperoni. My husband had the fried bologna sandwich. He enjoyed it, but again that bread is sweet. It can overpower everything. He didn't hate his sandwich, but he didn't love it. I ordered a pizza and yes, the crust was sweet. I wasn't super crazy about it. It wasn't terrible, but the sweet bread got a little much by that point. The scalloped potatoes and mac and cheese were really good. The service was great. Everyone was super friendly. They've done a great job with the vibe and decor.
