What's left of a lobster roll (special menu item)
    Tiffany N.

To summarize, decent beer, great food, chill atmosphere. My review is mostly for the food since im not a huge beer drinker. During Covid they are really only doing outside seating, which comprises of about eight seated and standing room tables. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The venue itself outside is next to some pretty rolling green hills. Overall, the food was great. My recommendations are the the bruschetta, the lobster roll, and the wings. The bruschetta, or "brewschetta", was outstanding. It was definitely not authentic, but more like a GIANT tray of delicious cheesey bread with a fresh tomato parm and olive oil salad in the middle. For $13 we were not expecting the portion size, because you could easy share between 4-8 people. The mango habenero wings were really good too, and the lobster roll was actually some of the best I've had, which surprised me because I spent a fair amount of time in Boston. Would definitely recommend, especially for a group outing, keep up the great work Short Story!

Enjoy a flight of all beers on tap. Served in a card catalog drawer.

Great seasonal beers with good food options. I enjoy sitting on the covered deck. Very good service. I enjoy the wings and pretzels.

Checking out a great local spot

My husband and I were about to move away from our home in Morgantown, WV. He asserted that we couldn't possibly move without stopping by Short Story. I was a little reluctant (okay, a lot reluctant) because it was raining and it was farther away than our usual Morgantown jaunts (it's about 25 minutes from our home in Morgantown). Well, let me tell you, it was worth it! The staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Often I've found that craft brewery bartenders can be a little snobby or "too cool." Not so here! Also, the place looks like a remodeled old home and my husband and I found a cozy spot upstairs to enjoy our brews. Take the drive and enjoy the journey. Cheers!

Could improve on service but generally ok. They don't seem very attentive to visitors but ok. Foods ok. Great location by the river!

Visiting Deep Creek for the weekend, High Ground was high on our list of want-to-visit places, as…read morethey sparked our interest based on multiple aspects; one obviously the ample variety of beers, two the history & values of the brewer's story, and three the gorgeous looking ambiance- our expectations were met, they definitely lived up to our hype. We arrived mid-day, during the week, to an empty brewery, and were very warmly welcomed by amazing staff- the bartender spent a great deal of time with us, allowing samples & talking beer, to ensure we found our ideal pours. She even gave us some 'off list' brews from a can she had opened for herself haha-so we could experience a wider range- and oh boy glad she did because I instantly added the off-list brew to my to-go cart! Overall, we sampled a number of the IPAs & dark beers (schwarz & porters)- drank 4 beers off draft, took 2 packs home- all had high star ratings based on their unique distinguishable flavors. Heavy Handed (creamy dreamy delicious w.heavy backend 4star) Weapons Free (creamy haze; hop cloud 4star) Druid Fluid (dried fruit citra haze pop 3.5star) Wizard Dreams (creamy, but not enough pop flavor 3star) Tad Nugent (perfect hazy floral nose, creamy hops 4star) Coal Train (subtle chocolate richness 4star) Ludicrous Speed (dark coffee chocolate nibs roasted 3.5star) Boof Stroke (impressive delicious citra for how light-boldest flavor profile 5star) Hanging out on the patio picnic table area to relax it was a great night out- really appreciated the venue, wished we lived closer to re-stock up- definitely going to have to keep an ear out for when we know people visiting and put in to-go requests haha!
