Did John Denver write Country Road here? I'm an out of town visitor and this will always be the quintessential spot I strive to replicate. Great weather, food and especially beer. Food- chicken tenders and fries- kids loved it and talked about it days later. Steak Hoagie- wife and I split as we weren't exceptionally hungry and glad we did. Coupled with a side of fries, the portions are great for one or to split Beer- I had two different IPAs - chasing daylight and another one (I don't remember and the website couldn't remind me). Both were different from each other but equally amazing. If you're in Morgantown or driving through, make the slight detour to this place. First off, what a great place! We checked this brewery out recently when we were in town for a softball tournament, and I second the comment from other reviews that it is worth the drive. The Neon Gardens sours were the highlight of the flight. Both the Watermelon Prickly Pear and Pineapple Coconut were amazing. Our other two beer choices in the flight were solid too (Red Ale and Helles Lager). Typically cheesecake wouldn't be a go to choice with a flight of beer, but I'm not sad that we ordered it. It was so good! My only suggestion: I wish the sours were in four packs. I would have loved to have purchased some to take back to Northern Virginia to share with friends. read more

Could improve on service but generally ok. They don't seem very attentive to visitors but ok. Foods ok. Great location by the river!

Ordered first, paid last, and didn't get my food. I tried to be patient with the chaotic ordering at the bar, and for 20 minutes after the rest of my party got their food, but ended up with a refund (minus their tip), and an empty stomach. Usually I'll try a place twice, but this is one and done. What's criminal is that it wasn't even busy. No sorries, just crickets after. Good luck. read more

To summarize, decent beer, great food, chill atmosphere. My review is mostly for the food since im not a huge beer drinker. During Covid they are really only doing outside seating, which comprises of about eight seated and standing room tables. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The venue itself outside is next to some pretty rolling green hills. Overall, the food was great. My recommendations are the the bruschetta, the lobster roll, and the wings. The bruschetta, or "brewschetta", was outstanding. It was definitely not authentic, but more like a GIANT tray of delicious cheesey bread with a fresh tomato parm and olive oil salad in the middle. For $13 we were not expecting the portion size, because you could easy share between 4-8 people. The mango habenero wings were really good too, and the lobster roll was actually some of the best I've had, which surprised me because I spent a fair amount of time in Boston. This place is amazing! We had a private party here with about 30 people including lots of kids. Everyone was friendly and efficient. The beer and the sours were excellent. The food was amazing. We had heaping pans of pulled pork, brisket, Fried Chicken, mac and cheese and several salads. The brisket had one of the deepest smoke rings I've ever seen and the taste was amazing. Great Brewery in Charleston! Relaxing yet energetic vibe. Just what the city needed. Friendly and welcoming staff!

I was extremely disappointed in this place. I love craft breweries. I have been to nearly all in Wv and several out of state as well. I am a patient customer under most circumstances since COVID hit. We walked in and grabbed a table. There were just 3 tables in use. All the rest were empty. The waitress seemed put out that we were sitting inside. We received menus and sat for several minutes. Never greeted never waited on. No drink order. No food order. Totally ignored by 1 and all. Seemed to be a place only for regulars. The over all vibe was unwelcoming. We left. I cannot rate the food or the brew only the actions or non action in this case of the staff. There were only 2 people in our party and we tip very well so their loss. read more

If you like IPAs, definitely come here. All the beers on the draft list are all made in house. Good sized space which is a good place to watch sporting events. Multiple TVs indoors and I was told there is a projector outside as well. Definitely worth a visit! read more

My husband and I were about to move away from our home in Morgantown, WV. He asserted that we couldn't possibly move without stopping by Short Story. I was a little reluctant (okay, a lot reluctant) because it was raining and it was farther away than our usual Morgantown jaunts (it's about 25 minutes from our home in Morgantown). Well, let me tell you, it was worth it! The staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Often I've found that craft brewery bartenders can be a little snobby or "too cool." Not so here! Also, the place looks like a remodeled old home and my husband and I found a cozy spot upstairs to enjoy our brews. Take the drive and enjoy the journey. Cheers! read more

Perfect stop on our vacation! The views, the beer, and the food are all incredible. The fall colors surrounding us and the calming environment created such a relaxing time. My sister and I shared a flight of all 8 (we loved them all but #2 was our favorite), and our group tried the bruschetta (AMAZING fresh flavors) and the Oktoberfest Pot Pie (which was so savory and flavorful)! Now Serving Food! STREET FOOD KITCHEN We stopped by this place Memorial Day Weekend on the way to Morgantown and I'm glad we did! I love that these small locally owned breweries are popping up in small towns because it gets you to places that you would just pass by otherwise. Small and cozy hangout spot with some good brews and now locally sourced eats. All of their ingredients come from local sources and are hand crafted on site. The place has a great cozy atmosphere with a modern vintage decor. They have outdoor seating with corn hole boards as well as shuffle board inside and an upstairs loft with an arcade game. They use an antique card filing cabinet to house boards games as well as the drawers to serve flights. They also have a record player and records from a local shop. Awesome to see locals supporting locals! Now for food and drink... We got the Huevos Rancheros tacos with pickled veggies and they were delicious but be prepared for a little heat. We also got the Tornado Potato which is basically spiraled potato chips on a skewer with a drizzle of garlic aioli and sriracha. Also tasty with a little heat. They did not have a kids menu so we requested a plain small burger and they were more than happy to oblige. We also got a flight and tried all of their brews except for the coffee stout (not our preference). They were all pretty good but our favorites were the Sideways Glance IPA, Two for the Show IPA and the Essential Element wheat Ale. We took a growler of the sideways glance home. Great find a little off the beaten path from Morgantown with good food and craft beers

You'd never think there'd be a cool, hip brewery in the absolute middle of Nowhere, West Virginia. But there is! Beautiful country drive on the way to it. Careful how much you eat and drink or it'll be a barfy drive home. The barkeeps are fun and so nice. You immediately feel like your at home. We happened to show up on Trivia Night--too late to start playing, but fun nevertheless. We used our wicked useless skills to help others around us‍. And you might want to double check the hours because even though Yelp says they're closed, they're clearly open. Wide open. read more

Went on Saturday and had a fantastic time! We tried a flight of all 8 of the beers, and they were all delicious. The atmosphere was chill and everything was thought out down to the last detail. Also the food truck, Pyles of Pasta had some really good looking and good smelling food, if we hadn't eaten beforehand, we probably would have bought something. We had a very enjoyable time here. It was super nice inside and had been expertly renovated. We really enjoyed the beers on draft. The Helles was excellent and would have drank many on a hot summer day. Both IPA were enjoyable for people who enjoy beer but not something that is way too bitter or hoppy.
