I needed two window screens, one repair, the other a brand new one. I called on Saturday. I spoke to Hugo and told him what I needed. He informed me they had a job, but would be back around 10AM. He was in and out very quickly and collected all of the screens for preparation and easy installation upon his return. The turn around time was only a day or two, for which he arrived with the screens already assembled; all he did was a quick installation and showed me how to work my new screen door. Installation took literally 20 minutes for our large home. During the consultation Hugo suggested the Solar Screen, please don't think they try to up sell; as the solar screen is 100% better then the standard screen for solar efficiency. Don't know why we didn't use Screen King before! We previously used another mobile screen company to replace a retractable screen door. They weren't available to come out until October for our window screens and sliding screen doors. We contacted Screen King and they came out the same week. Yes, it's true-- Screen King is the KING of screens in SF. All hail the Screen King! :) As background, I had countless mediocre experiences with unreasonably-priced window screen companies (e.g., see my one-star Yelp review of Peninsula Screen Shop, which will charge you $200 more than the average quote). After searching the market for a very long time, it was brought to my attention that Screen King was a perfect contractor / expert at installing and making custom screens in the Bay Area. Could it be true? A contractor that is both REASONABLY PRICED, honest and has high-quality workmanship? I decided to give Hugo at Screen King a call, and my prayers were answered! First, Hugo is extremely professional, prompt and kind. I've had to deal with a lot of contractors, and Hugo was one of the most pleasant, honest and thoughtful professionals I have had the pleasure of working with. When I first called him, he immediately gave me the attention I needed and answered all my questions. He also offered to give me a quote and was very articulate when chatting about his business, the quality of his screens and his commitment to giving his customers great value without the high prices. When I met him, Hugo was a true gem-- he was such a kind, young professional and I could tell that he was very honest. I totally support his business and hope everyone goes to him for their screens! Second, Hugo is very considerate, prompt and diligent in his work. He was always prompt, texted to let us in advance to remind us that we had scheduled an appointment, and he was never late. He was always considerate, efficient and gracious. Hugo wanted to do the job correctly and he didn't take any short cuts. He was very detail oriented, and I knew our home (and the screen job) was in good hands with Hugo. Additionally, Hugo took off his shoes, was extremely careful and thorough when he measured our windows and doors, and very thoughtful through the whole process. Hugo was extremely careful not to get any dirt or footprints in our home, and he was cognizant of where he was stepping, what he was moving (e.g., we had to move furniture to get to some windows), and how . He worked around our work schedules and came out in the early morning so it didn't interfere with our day. In summary, he was thoughtful and always extremely tidy-- he never left any marks or signs of dirt, even though he had to go outside on our balcony. Third, Screen King is FAST. The other places we called (Bay Area Screns, Martin, Peninsula Screen Shop) said it would take a week or so to get someone out to SF and over a week or two to cut and make the screens. Hugo was completely different. I called him on the weekend, and he said he could come out to take measurements that same day! After he took measurements, we asked how long it would take to make the screens, and he said he could have our custom screens ready the next day! WHAT?! Even WE needed more time than that so we could prep. He is SO efficient and very thorough. It's quite amazing, and I'm glad that there are honest contractors out there like Hugo. He restores my faith in hiring good, honest contractors, designers and the home remodeling process in general. Fourth, Screen King charges VERY AFFORDABLE prices for its screens. I ordered sliding door screens and window screens. Hugo provided me with a quote over the phone and when I heard his pricing, I literally jumped for joy and thanked him for being SO awesome. His price was seriously the BEST PRICE I had heard in my several months of searching for a good window screen contractor. (And believe me, I went through all the screen repair / installation contractors on Yelp AND through our Asian hook ups. Screen King beat ALL of them by a landslide.) Wife heard about him on Facebook. Hugo came to our house, gave us a very reasonable quote and fixed our screens, including fixing our screen door track. His price was so reasonable it didn't make sense to fix it myself. He had to take our screen door to fix and brought it back with 3 new wheels because the current ones were not working properly. He did not charge us for the wheels, though they must have taken a bit to put on plus materials. He was prompt, a problem solver, friendly and a good value.
