Started talking to set up my trip caregiver last Monday. This is Friday. The owner was so nice. She said if there was a problem they don't leave you in the lurch that she herself would even come. That is not true. . I had a meet and greet today with Harriet. My dog was hyper. He is if I'm there and someone comes. He barked a lot. Then at one point was smiling wagging his tail barking. I told her he nips ankles sometimes going for a pant leg when you leave but only when I'm here and your new a stranger to him. But only when I'm home & someone comes he doesn't know. It's Protection. I said That when I'm not here he's fine and sleeps mostly , he likes belly rubs. She pet him , held him, he did nip at her ankle and bark at her when she turned her back to walk away. She pet him even after this. He has an extra overbite no big teeth in front. Didn't rip pants or draw blood. Got her with his nose. He's dauchaund and pokes with his nose to get attention. I liked her thought she was nice! I am starting to think I am a bad judge of character! She said she's a surgeon and does this on the side. We talked time and hours and had no problems unlike what Tony said . He'd said she had to leave at certain times etc. she said no she was fine never said she'd have to leave at odd or different times . The owner's husband Tony about an hour later after the meet n greet called to say they can't help us now that she won't sit for us! He said She said my dog bit the back of her knee and she was bleeding. Also he barked too much! He sister insurance won't cover it! Loose bond etc! Today is the 4th of July and we leave Tuesday morning! He said they are too busy to get anyone or help us now! It's my fault we didn't get back to him sooner! I was asking for a meet right away! He said they are too busy on the weekend! He also told my husband it's my fault that this company owners husband Tony had been trying for 3 weeks to set up a meet and greet but I didn't get back to him'! Not true!!! I only started talking to them last Monday! 4 days ago!!! Earlier in the week (Wednesday morning) he'd sent a message saying my meet n greet would be the 15th when my trip was the 8th-11th! Then sent days for the sitter adding an extra week 2 weeks from now! I thought I was mixed up with someone else. Mentioned it they said they hadn't sent it! I figured hired they were mixed up. I think the owner Liza needs to fire her husband! Now I am stuck! Very sad I had high hopes we thought we liked Harriet and the owner Liza. Bad business you'll be left with nobody and who knows what will happen! Don't let the nice British accent fool you. I attached pics of my dogs and the caregiver leaving my home. No tips no blood was happy walking gone said she'd see me Tuesday! She said she's had a cat 11 years just got a dog. Hope he doesn't bark at strangers or a burglar. read more

I have 5 pets (2 cats and 3 dogs) so of course there is going to be a lot of instructions. One of the dogs cannot be around the other animals or she may attack them. And 1 of the cats knows how to escape through the dog door. I have a system and routine in place to make sure everyone is safe and happy. I had to go out of town for a few days and was already anxious bc I had to find a new sitter since mine moved to CA. I requested an experienced sitter for my animals and that was not what I received. She was a nice lady but she wasn't able to really handle all the instructions. She even said 'this is a lot of instructions." Well then maybe this wasn't the house for you? I had tuned in a couple of times on the camera in my house and at one point she was trying to get the cat to walk past the dog who attacks other animals! Thankfully I had happened to turn the camera on at that moment and possibly prevented my cat getting attacked. There were a few little things but that was the main one that stressed me out bc my cat could have been killed: my dog had attacked him a few years ago and they've been separate ever since. I still gave her a tip bc she did do some dishes and picked up and stuff and she was very nice, but she just wasn't a right fit for my situation. I informed the owner and thanked him for at least providing me a sitter when I needed one and I never even heard back from him. So maybe he's upset AT ME that I didn't have a 5 star service? Again, I KNOW there are a lot of instructions with my animals bc I have 5 and there is a routine to keep them all safe. So it's not me being unrealistic; I just don't want my cat to escape outside or the dog to attack everyone. But if you aren't able to handle a job like this it's ok to turn it down. I typed out instructions to give to the sitter plus a copy left here and still there were mishaps. So needless to say I'm on the hunt for another pet sitter unless mine moves back from CA haha! read more

Our regular petsitter had a personal emergency less than two days before we were to leave on an 8 day vacation, so I called Critter Caretakers to see if they could help. They were absolute superstars! I spoke with co-owner Liza for several minutes and got a sense of their hiring practices and was happy that they have (13?) sitters on staff so there's backup in an emergency like we had. Our new sitter, Kathy, came out that same evening for an introductory visit and I loved her right away. She was fantastic with our two cats, and I got the neatest reports and pictures after every visit on the phone app they use. 1 star for the price and the information wasn't made clear without clarification. I am on a tight budget and was in need of someone to come and feed my dog once a day just for few days. He is old and very low maintenance. But due to the Mandatory 2 visits a day (23$ a visit) I cant afford to use this service. To me its not worth almost 50$ a day just for a feeding and water change. read more

Dawn and her cast of caretakers are great. I liked them as soon as we started the initial interview. The in depth questions they asked made it clear to me that they were concerned about doing a perfect job,...and they did. I think we have used them 4 or 5 times so far. The great amount of care they take is consistent. I'm not a big fan of letting people into my house and as a result didnt go on vacation much. I was trepidatious when we were forced to make a quick trip back east and had to find someone to take care of our pets, but they put me at ease right away. Now we feel free to take day trips or long weekends or whatever and not worry about the kidz. I really love it that they txt pictures to us during every visit. Amazing experience! My husband and I had not gone on vacation in years, and when we had the opportunity to go visit family we were excited. Except we didn't want to leave our kitties in the hands of some teenagers, after all these are our fur babies! From the moment I spoke to owner, I was already feeling better. Then we (kitties too) got to meet Randi in advance and go over the little things our babies love. Randi really cared, she text us picture updates and took really good care of them! In fact, when we got home, I think they were sad it was us and not Randi! This the best service and a good price too! Called Dawn based on a referral after a death in the family left us scrambling to find pet care while we traveled to the funeral. Because of the short notice, our normal boarding place was booked. In comes Dawn, I called during the day and left a message and she returned my call the same day. She was thorough in her questions about my pets in order to provide the right kind of care and services. I discussed my needs and circumstances concerning my pets and she was able to work with me. The date of the funeral was moved and we ended up not needing pet care after all, but based on the interaction I had with Dawn over the phone, I definitely will be using her in the future. I contacted Critter Caretakers Pet Sitting and got a response fast on my inquiry. I set up appointment with Dawn and visited my fur babies. She's so great because she is the only person that made my shy cat come out on the first day of the visit. All my kitties loved her. I get reports daily during her visits and sends me pictures of my babies. This is my third appointment now and I know for sure I found someone who can take care of my babies when we are away on vacation. I am sticking with Critter Caretakers Pet Sitting. Often times we go out of our way to complain or report the negative. I've recently had quite the opposite experience and wanted to give praise and express gratitude for service and a job above and beyond. My friends know of the difficulties I had around Christmas with my dog and coping with his new diagnosis of diabetes, treatment requires much dedication and consistency on part of the human parent. I had the opportunity to go on a weekend trip with close friends, my family also out of town. A call to our past boarding hotel and they were unable to accommodate a guest requiring insulin injections. Another kennel was recommended, was lovely with guest cottages and playtimes but all of our recent doctors' appointments and time in the hospital had made any such separation quite traumatic. I found the website for 'Critter Caretakers Pet Sitters' and was not only intrigued but also impressed by their multiple 'Best in Phoenix' awards and outstanding BBB. One call to Dawn and I knew I had found our answer. She understood my concerns and intuitively stated that P.D. would be better left at home with in-home services, remain in his comfort zone. Her caregivers are bonded and experienced. She was able to line me up with Nicole who would come in morning and night for feedings and insulin as well as spend some quality time with him in my absence. We also scheduled a mid-day visit with Nikki, to come in and play for an hour each day. Both girls came over before my trip to meet P.D. as well as my cat. I left feeling so comfortable, and each day received text messages that 'All is well' and reassurance that there was no parties or friends over. A detailed report was there when I returned home. This experience was one that lets me know I can leave, my life can continue and that my animal family now is part of an extended family. Dawn with Critter Caretakers has been amazing. She has been helping us with mid-day visits while my husband and I are at work. She has helped in the care of our puppy since he was 8 weeks old. We have a Vizsla and he requires a LOT of exercise as well as extra patience with his puppy habits. Dawn provides a quality of care service instead of a time-based service--meaning she will not leave until he has ate, done his business and is tired from playing. She typically stays with him for 45 minutes each session and writes a detailed report on what went on during the visit. She will send me a couple photos via text message of our puppy during the visit to keep me updated as well. She gives as much care to our dog as if it were her own. We are extremely pleased with her service as she goes above and beyond our expectations. read more

We have used critter caretakers a couple times now and have been extremely happy each time! It's nice going on vacation and not feeling stressed about our fur babies while gone. They come over and spend good quality time with them, give them love, snacks, and time. They listen so closely and do everything according to how you like them being taken care of and what they are used to. I love getting text messages and knowing they are being well taken care of. (It's also nice when you come home from vacation and don't have to worry about picking up poo outside.) They also went out of the way to pull our trash to the curb and bring in any packages that were delivered. We also get to come home and read notes about the visit. I really appreciate the time they put in. I will definitely be using them again and as a matter of fact already have them booked for future trips. I have used Critter Caretakers for the last couple of years. I don't often go out of town (maybe a few times a year) and every time I have had great experiences. First, the pet sitter will do a consultation with you where you can walk through everything with them (where food is located, their favorite toys, etc.). While gone, I get text messages with pictures about how they are doing. When I come home, there is a note with details about each visit (eating/drinking, litter box, playtime, any issues). I can't begin to express how happy I am with Critter Caretakers! Dawn and Christine took the time to come over and meet my cats and thoroughly explain their policies before I left on vacation. My cats can be very finicky about strangers, especially my Maine Coon. I've had cat sitters who said they never saw him the entire time they came in and only knew he was eating because his food always disappeared. But he and my other cat came right out to meet Dawn and Christine and made friends with them from the start. I was gone 11days and Christine and Dawn took turns sending me daily emails with pictures of my kitties. Such contact is tremendously reassuring when you are away from the pets you love. In addition to simply feeding and cleaning litter boxes, they took time to play with my kitties and also left detailed daily notes summarizing each of their visits. Dawn and her group are part of my personal, trusted team. I used them back in June of 2016 to take care of my buddy for a week while I went on a business trip. They were professional, reliable, personable and basically loved on my dog as if he was part of their family too! The house was always secured and I received daily reports ad pictures to let me know how things were going. In February of this year I found myself unexpectedly in the hospital emergency room and would not be returning home right away.
