When I came back she was in "the Back" with many other dogs and was breathing heavily. A/C was OFF. The place was very warm and quite frankly too many dogs and hot. I put my dog in my car started to drive when she started foaming at the mouth and could not breath. I raced her to Middlesex Animal Hospital in Billerica. They brought her in as a medical emergency and saved her life. They placed her on a cooling bed with bolus "I/V's- she was diagnosed with heat exhaustion. Her temp was dangerously high and thank god I got there when I did. She had to stay in the hospital for monitoring. I called "you dirty dog" and the owner actually did not want to give me my money back. I threatened to take her to court and showed my paperwork from the Vet. This place is not what it use to be. I will never return every again. Not safe and its a dump. All set!

The following day a "manager" from Chelmsford store called and I asked point blank will you handle a 100 pound dog with a muzzle that can't be removed. Answer- yes muzzles happen all the time, manager was pleased with me being upfront. I said so his head will not be touched. Response we can work around that. But since we are booked so far out put those in the notes when you make an appt. I did that in great detail only to find out day off appt no one reads any of that. I never got a call ahead or reminder of the appt I made 3 weeks prior. Unacceptable.I brought in my first dog 1030am signed all the forms for both dogs and was told I would get a call for the muzzled dog shortly his appt was noon. 10 mins of noon no call. I walk in with him and am immediately man handled by an ignorant manager who has no care in the world to be proactive in preventing an aggressive incident. She told me to remove the muzzle. I said no way. Do you not review appts on new dogs ever? No. I said give back my other dog 1.5 hours after he was handed over they had done nothing to him. I offered to pay and was told they don't want my business. 2 dogs needing to be groomed 30 weeks a year, Petsmart, this is your loss. Get retrained and fire your managers.

The staff in this clean, well-maintained, independent and locally-owned and operated animal-loving small business is friendly and helpful. Leashed animals are, of course, welcome to visit the shop.
