Not only was there a great selection versus the scuba shops near me in LA, the staff was amazing. I got a friendly hello when I walked in from the repair guy, and was assisted by the manager. We went through quite a few suits in every price range, and at 5' tall, nothing was fitting. I ended up spending a bit more, but found my Henderson Thermoprene Pro 6S which fit (almost) perfectly and was so stretchy! I wish they had a 4S - but that's on Henderson, not Scuba.com. Because it was a bit more than I planned on spending, the manager found a Thermoprene in my size that was on sale, and sent a couple of other less expensive wetsuits in stock (but not in store) to my home. Of course, none of them compared so I'll have to return them... but I'm just so thankful I found Scuba.com! read more

The best prices on equipment. If you are fortunate enough to live in the area, come visit their showroom. You can try on wetsuits, look at equipment and get expert knowledge about equipment. If I could give this website zero stars, I would. I have made a purchase for my husband, long story short, I returned his gift because it was the incorrect item for him. I couldn't fill out the return online so I called customer service. they were able to send me a label for shipping. I shipped out the returns and now almost 3 weeks later, I have yet to receive my funds back to my credit card. For whatever reason, customer service does not know why I haven't received my refund and need to "enter the refund manually". My husband had to return his purchase but received his refund pretty quick. I'm not sure what is going on but it's upsetting. I would not be buying from here again due to poor customer service. read more

I don't normally write reviews but the service I received was far beyond my expectations that I felt I had to share my experience. Went into Scuba.com on 7/21 and spoke with Aaron and Miguel. Wanted to get some equipment checked out before a trip to the Maldives. Came in looking for 5mm wetsuit as well as to service my dive computer and to change out some hoses. Miguel was an awesome tech. I had told him about some of my concerns and he was immediately able to diagnose my computer issues and was able to get me on my way with a serviced computer. He is extremely knowledgeable (I had peppered him with some many equipment questions) and was able to put my equipment concerns at ease. Aaron the other rep was able to help me out choosing a wetsuit. He is extremely knowledgeable and was able to state the pros and cons of each wetsuit without pressuring me to buy one. He wanted to get one that met my needs. I felt he had my best interest in mind rather than just being all about sales. I have been to a few dive shops around here but the service I receive here is far beyond what I have had before. You can't beat the service from this place. I travel for work 95% of the time and it's very difficult for me to go shopping - yet alone find the time to seek out a specific dive shop to buy gear. More often, I let my fingers do the walking. I needed items for a trip to the Philippines and ordered a wet suite, the original item I ordered was not immediately available in time for my trip -- so Tom called me and walked me through several options. Tom also extended additional customer service support for my other needs and was extremely helpful! The prices, product options and customer service are really unparallel, particularly considering I was doing all my ordering online and over the phone - and everything was amazing! I highly recommend this shop and hope that my trips take me to California so I can meet these amazing people and dive with them in person! read more

Place an order on the website for a wetsuit and purchased the size according the the size chart. Wetsuit was too small when it came. Spoke to a rep over the phone that advised me on the return process and said once they had my return they would ship the correct size out. He assured me it would arrive in time for my trip and I didn't have to worry about them running out. From that point on I heard nothing. They did not confirm receipt of the return nor shipping of the replacement size. It never came and I did not have it for my trip. Turns out it went out of stock and they never contacted me or refunded my money until I called them. Can't be relied on. First and last order with them. read more

Ordered a prescription snorkel mask for our son, in preparation for a trip to Florida. Ordered 3 weeks early, to assure that we would receive it in time. Order kept getting delayed. Nobody reached out to me from the company, I always had to initiate contact. They assured me that it would arrive the day before we left and that they would overnight ship it to us (at their cost). Again I heard nothing until I called them, customer service rep said that the shipping department was closed for the night but that they could get it to me in 3-4 days.... mind you this is the day before we are supposed to leave. I'm so furious! Now my son won't be able to snorkel, and if he does he won't be able to see much. This company should NOT be in business. I would NOT buy from this company unless you have 6+ weeks to sit around, calling them, hounding them and still not getting your order. read more

What a great shop! I've bought a couple wetsuits and a dive watch here. The staff is always fantastic. Miguel got my computer repaired on the spot when it stopped working right before a big trip. Kristina is a great dive leader. I went diving with scuba.com for women's dive day and everything was so terrific and well organized. They've got a great selection. This used to be my go-to spot for anything I needed. After a recent order that is no longer the case. I ordered some items, most importantly a pair of fins, for an upcoming trip. I ordered these items with more than enough time for them to arrive before my departure. When I placed the order, the fins showed as in stock. When the order arrived, the wrong fins had been sent. I used the online chat support (which is terrible) and was informed that the fins were actually back ordered. We came to a resolution of shipping me out a different pair of fins next day. 4 days go by and nothing. At this point, im 2 days away from departure. I again chat support reached out, and low a behold, they have no record of any conversation. The fins were not shipped. And they basically couldnt care less. Every agent I spoke to on their online support offered no help, and just directed me to call, which again, offered little to no support and resolution. I have been shopping with scuba.com since it was leisurepro. My first order was placed in 2011. After multiple examples like this, the straw has finally broke the camels back. I will no longer be purchasing anything from this company. I advise you to do the same. read more

The WORST customer experience I have ever had! I went into the store to purchase a pair of boots for an upcoming dive trip. We entered the shop, Arthur was working the front desk. He did not acknowledge us when we entered. I thought, okay, I know the routine. I went to a computer and began looking for the boots I wanted. I selected a pair put them in my cart and pushed the button for them to be brought up front. The guy from the back came up front, dumped some stuff on the counter. Never said Kris, your order is here, nothing! Left me standing there for a good 10 minutes. Arthur never said, your order is here and they don't have the boots in your size, (even though the computer said they did). I finally walked over and looked at the dive gear that was brought up front. My experience does not end there...I decided I did not want to spend my money at a shop that provides such lousy service so I asked to return the boots I bought on line that were too big. I went up to Arthur who was standing at the counter looking at the computer. I asked him to process the return on the boots. I gave him the receipt. He didn't look at it but continued with what he was doing. I told him, "give me the receipt, I will return the boots on line" He said, I'll be done in a minute. So I waited, more than a minute when, the one other customer in the store, came up and asked Arthur multiple questions. In stead of Arthur saying, "I'll be with you in a minute, let me help this customer" he turned and helped the customer and left me standing there AGAIN. At this point I had been in the store over 30 minutes and had yet to be helped. I told Arthur not to bother with my return that I would return the boots on line. He said to me, "I am sorry, it's really busy right now". LAME!!! It was not busy, there was ONE other customer in the store. I took the receipt from his hand asked his name and left the store. What a waste of time, thinking I could drive into SCUBA.COM and leave with the boots I needed. I went to my car and called Scuba.com after getting caught in the phone loop I asked to speak to someone in their customer service department. After being on hold for 5 minutes I hung up. I called again an hour later, talked to Bob who asked me to hang up and send them an email. WHAT THE HECK??? What kind of service is that???? I left, went to Sports Chalet and got the boots I needed for half the price in half the time. Sorry Scuba.com, I am done with you! read more

I have kind of a love-hate relationship with Scuba.com. I really like that they have all kinds of gear, including stuff that no one else seems to carry. I like that the prices are very competitive. I like that they are close enough to me that when they send something out, I get it the next day. I hate that they take my orders, make them as "being pulled" and then the status doesn't change for a week or 10 days. Really? In this day and age of Internet sales, you ought to be able to get your stuffed shipped in a couple of days. I hate that they have stuff listed, but it's not really in stock and then they don't tell you this until after you've ordered and a week or two goes by. I hate that they make sly little innuendoes about their major competitor on their website. I still order from they, but not if I can find the same thing somewhere else where I can have it shipped in a timely manner. Bottom line: They have great stuff at great prices--as long as you don't need it anytime soon. read more

Their lack of care for their online customers is amazing! I have had problems with multiple orders over the last 6 months. The first order was for a sale item that took them over 14 days to notify me that it was backordered. The second was an order of Christmas gifts that was placed on 11/30. Once again it took them two weeks (12/14) to notify me that one of the items was discontinued by the manufacturer. Well as of today the order still had not shipped. I leave Tuesday (12/22) to visit family for Christmas. I contacted them today expressing the situation and seeing if we can expedite the shipment. The reply I received said "It appears it should be shipping today!"..... SHOULD! I just checked and it was shipped standard, meaning that there is now way my family will have their gifts. I placed this order 19 days ago....... So thank you Scuba.com for allowing me to show up to Christmas without gifts. Very frustrating and unprofessional. read more

I ordered a wetsuit from scuba.com over the phone with a rep who helped me with sizing. At the time I told him what date I needed it by (about 2 weeks out) and he said the suit was in stock and ready to ship, and would take only a few days to reach me (going from SoCal to SoCal address). The next day I got an email saying that I had to redo my order via amazon payments, so I did. Concerned that the delay might make the suit not arrive in time for my dive trip, I emailed scuba.com customer service to confirm. Someone got back to me and said "no problem, the suit will ship out today." Roughly a week later I still didn't get it so I contacted them again and they said that the suit was not in stock and wouldn't ship until the day after I needed it. When I pointed out that not once but twice their reps had told me it was "in stock and ready to ship" they said that their inventory system was out of date, but offered to replace my suit with another one for the same price - only problem is the one they offered to replace it with costs 60% less on their web site than the one I paid for already. Now I see that with my experience and the other reviews here that scuba.com operates with the principle of offering things at a lower price that they don't actually possess (and maybe never will) to try to bait and switch shoppers into other high-margin items. Shame on them for treating fellow divers this way. read more

First, I want to start by saying I do not like giving negative feedback. I think everyone has had bad days! But I would expect a company to keep their promises and commitments and if they can't that they come up with a creative solution. I have never had a problem with scuba.com when it was owned by the former owner, and I have never had problems with their, now, sister company Leisurepro. They are now both owned by Adorama. I have spent literally over $4,000 over the last 8 months with scuba.com and it is my most recent purchase that has caused me to write this review. I share the amount I have spent, no to brag, but to put into context that I did a lot of business with scuba.com My last (and final) purchase from scuba.com was a steel HP80 that had to be shipped from their sister store back in New Jersey. This was right before the COVID-19 thing happened. I was going to pick it up at the store but because the store was closed, I had directed UPS that I would pick up the tank directly from UPS's OC hub (UPS tried to deliver twice to their store but could not deliver it, so I was trying to be empathetic and not have UPS have to ship it back to Leisurepro and then for Leisurepro to accrue additional freight to ship it back to me). This was in March. Part of the purchase of the tank was they would assemble the tank, do the VIP, and fill the tank. When I called their customer service at the beginning of the week (6/22), I was told that their new location in Costa Mesa would not be open till August. Well, I would like to go diving and would love to use my new tank to do so, and really do not want to wait till August! So I called again today (6/25) and wanted to know if I could take the tank to another LDS which was open to do the VIP, assembly, and air fill, and if scuba.com could credit the $15 to my account. The instructor first did not understand what I was talking about, and after some clarification on my end, he offered to put it together but that they could not fill the tank as their new location did not have a compressor. I again asked if I could go and get the thing done by another LDS and have them credit my account. Which the instructor just repeated what he told me before. Also, he noted that the tank should have a "red shark" label on it indicating that the tank had VIP. I told him that I had not even opened the box so did not know if it did have the label. Well, after the call I did open the box and the tank did not have a Red Shark label on it, so I guess it did not have a VIP. I got frustrated and told him that he had lost my business for good and that I would not do any more business with scuba.com. I wish the company well, and I realize that my experience may not be the same experience others will go through. But I thought I would share my experience. Well, within days of writing my review, the folks at scuba.com responded via Yelp, and then went even further to contact me directly via email. Their response has caused me to decide to retract my initial statements about poor customer service, and replace them with glowing praise for a job well done. Not only did they address my concerns, but they went above and beyond in the way they proceeded to rectify the situation. They have confirmed that they have now already shipped out the correct bag, AND have credited me a refund on a bag which was a free gift to begin with. My hat is off to them. Clearly they care more about customer service than I had estimated. I will certainly choose to shop with them in the future based on this example of OVER THE TOP CUSTOMER SERVICE. Way to go Scuba.com! My only advice/hope is that they change their policy of sending out a replacement for back ordered items without first checking with the customer as to their preference. In looking at other reviews, I see that this policy was not isolated to my situation. read more

If I was just reviewing this place for their retail side, then I would give it a 4 or 5 stars. I've gotten most, if not all of my gear here. Their pricing is very competitive and the convenience of being able to just go over there and pick up my items directly is nice. However, when it comes to their service/repair side, it's been consistently trying. If you get gear serviced here, you will need to regularly call them to get an update and/or make sure you're in their radar. Otherwise, you will likely fall through the cracks if you need your equipment back by a certain time. They may also mix up orders. So, I would still utilize this place to purchase equipment, but I want to try other dive ops for servicing. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised that they read these reviews and take the feedback seriously. That, alone, leaves a better impression of their business. While shopping for a SeaQuest Balance BCD, I found a couple of places outside of California that would sell me one for $535 total. That's no tax and no shipping charge. Wanting to buy local, I sent these guys at Scuba.com an email and asked if they could sell it to me with no tax. They said no. So I sent another email and asked if they could sell it to me for $550 total. No response. I sent another and they didn't say no, but they said it'd be $577 or right around there. When I called them, I told the guy who answered what I wanted to do. He said he couldn't hold back the tax. I said I understood and asked if maybe he could charge less so I could walk out of the place with the BC for five-fifty. Another no. Then I said, I guess you can't compete with these guys online, huh? And what do you think he said? It wasn't yes. He wasn't the friendly, relaxed, diver-type guy I was expecting. He sort of had that "I'm irritated that I actually answered the phone today and even more irritated that you want to save a little cash" attitude. I know things are tight but maybe he could have said something like, "Hey dude, we need to make a couple of bucks on these things to stay in business. How about you buy the BC for $577 and I'll throw in a knife or something?" I would have said yes. So a little better attitude and a little thinking out of the box might help. I eventually bought the BC at Sport Chalet. They'll meet prices and they'll treat you with respect as opposed to attitude from snotty employees. read more

Just got OW certified in Hawaii and needed to purchase the basics. Got an amazing 30% discount on a Henderson wetsuit, boots, and gloves from the Scuba Show. I received my order within 2 weeks and found that none of the items I purchased fit. Took everything back to the store in Irvine and was fitted properly for another set of boots and gloves. I'm still working out the issues with my wetsuit. Apparently, not too many women dive in CA waters and it doesn't make sense for Scuba.com to stock so many in my size. I was able to try on a few wetsuits from Neosport and Pinnacle, but none of them were a good fit. To be fair, I'm a Small Tall and only a couple brands produce the size, none of which were stocked and only available by order. The sales associate at the front was extremely friendly and helped me for a little over an hour. He managed to fit me into the original Henderson I purchased by layering a polyolefin suit and a hooded vest. However, I'm still on a quest to find the near perfect suit. Scuba.com has a huge inventory and I'll definitely be back when I'm ready to purchase the rest of my gear. read more

Its a warehouse with a lobby area and multiple computers.. You go online add the items you want to check out, and someone gets them to you. Much better than shopping online, you can try out the stuff before you buy them. And the specials are pretty good. I love when I can browse a website to decide what I want, but go into the store to make sure I choose the right size. Scuba.com's store is in Irvine, CA, right down the street from where I work in Costa Mesa, so I'm able to do just that. I recently bought some snorkel fins, and they honored a store credit I had from two years ago. The only bummer was that both times I've been there, they didn't have a color that the website appeared to show as being in stock for a particular size. I had a lot of problems getting my Cressi Leonardo Computer, I ordered it in early January and just got it today, February 24th. I kept getting form emails and started to get enraged. I finally fired back an email with a minor expletive and the answer I probably deserved. Short story long, there were some minor communication issues with Scuba.com, but they were completely backordered on this item and I guess getting stuff from Italy is not as easy as getting stuff from New York. I am very happy with Scuba.com and appreciate the customer service more, now that I was able to talk to someone (they actually called me). My advice? Recently upgraded my old ScubaPro BC (15yrs old) to a new ScubaPro Nighthawk BCD. While I consider myself a veteran diver (NAUI 1966) I found the sales staff of great assistance, in making to purchase. Looking for a wetsuit for my wife and went to Sport Chalet. Their wetsuits were so expensive, but then I found SCUBA.COM. We saw the best selection and prices on SCUBA.COM but were hesitant to purchase something online...gotta try out a wetsuit. So we called and found their location and drove down! We were greeted by Dan who was more than helpful. We had no idea what kind of suit we wanted so he helped us find a great suit. My wife felt kinda bad since she tried on "all the suits in the shop," but really it was like 5. Dan was super patient and, like I said, helped my wife find "her wetsuit." I am a relatively new diver and had several questions about dealing with visual impairments. I had the pleasure of online chatting with Darrick, one of the scuba instructors. Not only was he knowledgeable, and extremely helpful, but also very understanding when I explained my budgetary constraints. He was able to recommend several products, was very intuitive and made suggestions that would help me enjoy my dives more. I've been intimidated by more experienced divers, as in the past, I've faced impatience and annoyance at my lack of experience and the need for reinforcement of skills. Three years ago, when they didn't have enough customers they were very helpful and nice. I purchased most of my stuff from them. Today, I went back after 3 years and same people still working there; however, they were very rude and not friendly to the effect that my friend who was with me and is not a diver looked at me and said, "dude, lets get out of here. This is BS". Extremely rude and not helpful at all. I only had a service question and they made us wait for half an hour because the salesman was flirting with a shopper.
