I formally express my dissatisfaction with the handling of a firearm purchase that was defective…read morestraight out of the box, and the unacceptable customer service response I received. For clarity, the timeline is as follows: The firearm was picked up on November 15. It was stored, unused, as it was intended to be a Christmas gift. The firearm was gifted on December 25 and attempted to be used for the first time on December 26, at which point it was immediately found to be non-functional. The firearm was returned to Turners on December 29, promptly after discovering the defect. This was not a case of wear, misuse, or buyer's remorse; the firearm never functioned as intended. In fact, during the return visit, the store manager personally inspected and tested the firearm and determined that the firing pin was not striking the cartridge with sufficient force, confirming that the firearm was defective. Despite this confirmed defect, I was informed that because the issue was identified ten days past the 30-day window, I would be required to pay $50 out of pocket to ship the firearm back to the manufacturer. What makes this demand particularly unreasonable is the fact that Ruger provides a free prepaid shipping label for warranty returns. Rather than assisting or advocating on behalf of your customer, Turners chose to ignore the manufacturer's established warranty process and instead imposed an unnecessary and punitive fee for a defect that existed at the time of sale. Let me be very clear: A firearm that fails immediately upon first use and is confirmed by your own manager to be mechanically defective is not a return issue. It is a defective product. Penalizing a customer for discovering a manufacturing defect days outside an arbitrary policy window, especially under normal and foreseeable circumstances such as a Christmas gift, is neither reasonable nor customer-focused. The policy, as applied here, shifts responsibility away from the retailer and onto the customer for a problem that Turners sold in non-working condition. That is unacceptable. I did not purchase a discounted or as-is item; I purchased a new firearm with the expectation that it would function properly and that the retailer would stand behind the product if it did not. What further compounds this issue is the complete lack of discretion or advocacy shown by the staff. No attempt was made to escalate the matter, no consideration was given to the fact that the firearm never worked and was confirmed to be defective, and no effort was made to resolve the situation in a fair or reasonable way. Instead, I was met with a rigid policy and told to pay $50, despite the manufacturer already offering a no-cost warranty shipping solution. Turners' reputation is built on trust, responsibility, and service--especially in an industry where safety and reliability are paramount. This experience reflects none of those values.

Made in the USA. Lifetime warranty. Customer service that exceeds expectations. When's the last…read moretime you experienced that trifecta? Mine was on Friday, when I stopped by NalPak Group's HQ with an early generation of its vaunted Tuffpak 1050 Gun Case -- in Hunter Green. (Fortunately for me, I live a little over a mile from the shop -- which, for a knife and flashlight guy, is kinda dangerous to the wallet.) These cases are built like Fort Knox, and can carry multiple long guns or, with the right golf bag, a set of golf clubs. The only thing I didn't like about this early-gen case was the top handle, which laid flat on the top and wasn't comfortable to pull the case with for long distances. Fortunately, NalPak improved the case over the years, and the upgrade I most wanted was the new cushioned handle with more room for my hand to pull the case with ease. When I brought the case into the store for the handle, the friendly Office Manager, Annette, who also oversees the retail store, called a gentleman from the back, who looked over the vintage Tuffpak, asked what I needed -- the new-style handle -- and offered to install new wheels (softer roller-blade style -- a definite upgrade), too. After a short wait, my case emerged with the new handle, new wheels, an added internal hook and accessory bag (included on newer models) and a new strap and buckle. I asked what the charge was, and they said zero! How do you top that customer service? It's great to have such an amazing company headquartered right here in my hometown of El Cajon, California. Thanks, NalPak. You're the best!
