It is important to us that we retain the integrity of the home, and of the stories it holds-- when it came to plasterwork, we needed some general maintenance and some more serious repair. When our original plaster guy no-showed we panicked-- the snowball effect on the other subcontractors and work to be done would be devastating. We stumbled upon Ornamental Plaster Arts on Yelp and with no reviews, hoped for the best. Hazma, and the work he's done, is beyond "the best". He was responsive, communicative, and clearly an expert at his craft. After looking at his website and the complexity and depth of his work, our flat plaster repair is clearly beneath his skill set, but Hamza didn't treat it, us or our home that way. He genuinely treated it like it was a cathedral. He enjoys his craft and it shows in the final product. We had a decades old repair-gone-wrong in the living room and fairly extensive repair in our kitchen from old plumbing work, the removal of old wood burning stove venting, some weird mold etc. He took it all down to the lath, built it back up, and patched a number of smaller scale holes/damages left from our re-wire. AND as a bonus Hamza is kind, funny, and knowledgeable about the quirks of old homes. We found our guy. It'll be Hamza and no one else.

He did a a great job patching the holes from our knob and tube repair. Even our other contractors complimented his work. I called Euro Design and Plaster and the guy who came out to look showed me it was a fairly simple matter of a couple screws to re-attach the plaster to the lathe, and some plaster to fill in the cracks. He then explained how to skim over the patch and even how to re-texturize the skimmed over part to make it match the original as closely as possible. He said "we can do it for you, but it's a fairly simple job. I'd hate for you to pay us so much when I know you can fix it yourself for less than a hundred". HOLY CRAP!!! The reason I gave them 4 stars and not 5 is a) they didn't actually work on my house, so I can't comment on that and b) they were initially a little spotty on communications. I didn't get a return phone call until I had called a second time (a week after the first call) and the guy was over an hour later than he said he'd be. Now that I know we can fix it ourselves, though, the annoyance of the bad communication seems like no big deal.

They matched the old color so perfectly that you'd never know the work had been done. Their estimate was reasonable, they arrived when they said they would, kept the worksite clean during and after the project and did a very professional job. The work crew and management were easy to work with and very personable. We'll definitely hire them again when we need more projects. We hired Euro Design through the Home Owners Club, a group that takes meticulous care in qualifying any service providers they recommend, does not take a cut on any projects and makes sure the work is guaranteed to our satisfaction. Euro Design can be proud of having their endorsement because they deserve it.

We got several bids for the project and they came in very competitive. The owner, Vasyl, was very friendly and provided us with a range of options for our project. He also has a good eye for design. The project manager, Roman, was also very friendly, did a good job keeping us in the loop, and focused on making sure we were happy with work as it was done. A few unexpected things came up, as they often do with old homes like ours, and Roman did an excellent job communicating them to us and getting our input before proceeding. The crew was friendly, on-time, and did excellent work. Overall, we are very happy with how the project turned out and the experience we had with Exterior Crew.

Knowing this was going to be a good size job, we got a few quotes before starting the work. Daniel was one of the quotes. While he was not the cheapest, I was impressed with his knowledge and the thoroughness of the estimate. He also gave us a sheet of references and after calling some we picked him for the job. Right away I knew we made the correct choice. He did an excellent job guiding us through the process of picking out the doors and letting us know the type of hardware. When it was time for the work to start he was very communicative as to what he was going to do and when. He also sent me a few photos of the work in progress during the day so I could see what was going on. It was a nice touch. When the job was complete it came in on budget and was well done.

Daniel was a pleasure to work with in every respect. He communicated frequently, was straightforward with us about options and cost and delivered a quick, professional result. He was friendly and respectful even though our little job and house are much smaller than his normal work. We're so thankful that we found a good contractor on our first try and will definitely work with Westbrook Restorations again! (Note: Westbrook Restorations isn't going to be your cheapest option, and it may likely be the most expensive, but it's absolutely worth it).
