We employed Sea Cure to move us from our home in New Jersey. We were very unhappy with every aspect of the move. Furniture that was disassembled was not assembled correctly. While we realistically knew that not everything would arrive in pristine condition, we were astounded at the amount of things packed by Sea Cure that arrived broken or damaged. I would not trust Sea-Cure Moving to take the trash from my driveway to the curb. They moved our possessions from the Jersey Shore to San Diego after storing these items in their warehouse for three months. There were problems from the initial estimate through delivery and not all our items arrived in California. Before I list the problems, I need to give credit for what they did right. The crew was on time and came prepared to work. I have to give a thank-you to the guy who packed my wife's Fiesta Collection. While I paid for this service, everything was well packed and came intact. The first problem came with the initial weigh-in after they left my house. The actual weight exceeded their estimate by over 60% and I did not find this out until I received my first invoice several weeks later. You cannot object and there is no recourse because they are holding your stuff. I compared the breakdown of items on the estimate to what I read on the actual Inventory Listing, that is when I finally got a copy I could read, and the number of items was fairly close. Their estimator saw the large packed plastic totes and was aware of their weight. I feel I was purposely low-balled in order to get my business. This increase in the weight raises my price affecting the move into storage, three months of storage, and the move cross country. Sea-Cure was the last of the Movers to give an estimate and should have had the best idea of what was left to move as most of my purging was done. The next problem that occurred was the Owner was terrible at returning phone calls. Of the dozen calls I made, he only returned one. While other people on staff took my calls and tried to help with questions, only Ron could provide me answers and he was hard to track down. I was constantly told that he leaves work to care for his elderly father and no one is more sympathetic to someone who is providing care for a family member than I am based on my personal circumstance. My family and I left NJ three years prior to our move to care for our daughter who was fighting cancer and to care for our two granddaughters. Our daughter passed away halfway into our stay but our son-in-law still needed help with the girls so we stayed until we made the decision to move permanently. I understand his commitment to caring for his father, but once you make the decision to take customers' money you have an obligation to either find the time or delegate to others and he did neither. The final problems occurred with our delivery to California. It took them 21 days from our notification to the time these items were delivered. I was expecting this time for scheduling and transport to be closer to two weeks based on the contract. The estimate stated that monthly storage would be prorated for the last month based on the actual number of days. Yet no money was refunded. The worse problem was the missing 4 items out of 119. The Inventory sheets that Sea-Cure gives the customer is the last of the carbon set and is illegible. There was no legible list that I could use to check off the items upon delivery. When I went with the driver for the final weigh-in, I got a copy of his sheets. The driver asked me to sign his copy that I received everything. When I mentioned how could I know that I received everything, he told me I have nine months to report damaged or missing items. Believing him, I made the bad decision to sign without any written note that this signature was subject to me checking off the list upon returning home. Two of the boxes contained household and personal items that we are just discovering are gone. The last missing box contains a painting that turns out has value as it has appreciated over thirty years. Another missing item is a treasured portrait of my wife's family dating back to the 1930's that is irreplaceable. A lot of the predicament I find myself in is my own fault for believing the driver. My signature relieves both Sea-Cure and Bekins of any responsibility for replacing or even insuring my missing items. This is especially annoying as I paid good money for this policy that is worthless. Bekins Customer Service put out a trace on the missing items but I doubt they put in much effort as there was no motivation as they knew my signature got them off the hook financially. My understanding is that no one but Sea-Cure personnel touched my goods which were moved from my NJ residence to their warehouse for three months. Then their truck and driver moved our items to California along with items belonging to other families that they delivered along the way. If these missing items were mistakenly delivered to another household, it was due to a Sea-Cure employee's ineptness. There is also the possibility that someone at Sea-Cure, at the warehouse or along the trip, took my items. I am absolutely positive I am missing these items and Sea-Cure employees were the only ones to handle our possessions. read more

My move was a switch of 2 rooms up and down. Rob, Travis and John Dustin arrived at 9:00am. They introduced themselves and started this task. A queen sofa bed and very large desk were handled without a problem along with the other items. They were prepared with pads to cover railings etc. They worked as a team and were professional. Matt came out to give an estimate for a local moving job (literally like 10 miles). He seemed very nice and honest. He would text back and forth with me on questions we had and was super helpful. Once his packers came in to pack us (whom I really liked) Matt was no longer friendly when I texted to ask questions about the crew leaving tools at our house. He actually wouldn't even respond. He verbally told me, while trying to make the sale, that depending what was moved our price would go down. There were items on the moving list that were not moved at all. The day of packing Sandy, who was amazing, asked for payment. My husband asked if the truck is getting weighed or whatnot bc Matt had told both of us that the price would be adjusted once the crew saw they were leaving stuff behind. Sandy explained to my husband that our contract price was binding and in fact was never going to be lowered no matter what they didn't move. I called and spoke with a gentleman who was very short with me and he said I "should've read my contract better". Yes clearly this is my mistake, however after dealing with Matt and, I believe the man on the phone was Ron, I just want people be to 100% sure what they're signing paperwork for. Overall the move went fine. They had to pack us up on a Tuesday, move our stuff out on a Friday, and deliver it Saturday. It was kind of a pain since we have 5 kids and then no longer had a kitchen to utilize. Most of the stuff was put back together ok with the exception of a few things. We were more than happy with our moving crews. Those guys and Sandy are really great! In our opinion the packers, movers, and drivers get 5 stars, but management and sales only receive 1 star. Our salesman, Tom, came to our home and did a thorough review of all our items. His survey was very good and accurate, everything was accounted for. We'd gotten other estimates and although SeaCure was the most expensive, we believed Tom's sales pitch and thought they'd do the best job, worth the price (almost $5k). There was one thing we were specific about and it was non-negotiable - we needed the move done in one day from our home to our storage unit. That was imperative. Tom wrote that into our contract and said there would be six men and two trucks, guaranteed a one day move on the day we'd chosen. Fast forward to a week before our move - the scheduler calls to confirm the appointment. At that time he tells me it's a TWO DAY move - they will move one half of my home one day and the other half on the second day. For the purpose of discussion here, let me state my home is 3 bedrooms, 2700 square feet. No dining room set. No family room set. We were packaging all our tv's and mirrors ourselves. We were bagging our mattresses ourselves. I fail to understand why this move had to be two days especially when it was contracted for one day and also because we are not moving a mansion here. The scheduler could not change to accommodate what Tom had agreed to and we were left with a small window of time to find a new mover who could do it all in one day. To put a humorous spin on this, it reminded me of a Seinfeld episode when Jerry rents a car but he gets there and there's no car for him. He says, "You know how to TAKE a reservation, you just don't know how to KEEP a reservation." Well Sea-Cure, I say the very same to you. Not cool, not cool at all. read more

We had a complicated move involving storage & 2 moves in Wildwood Crest, NJ. Sea Cure did a fabulous job all around. From the estimator, the moving guys to the office staff, the experience was very easy. The price was reasonable & we actually received money back for unused time that was originally estimated. The guys who moved us on both days had a great attitude, were friendly & professional. Taking extreme care to wrap & pack all items. They were also very careful about not damaging walls. They worked together like a well oiled machine to get the jobs done efficiently. I can't say enough good things about the organization as a whole, but especially the movers themselves.
