It isn't super close to Old Port, but it's about a 20-25 minute walk, even faster if you have a car or bike. Our host, David, was so gracious and kind. He gave us all kinds of tips on where to eat, what to see, and which neighborhoods to check out. And the breakfast options. Holy moly. These are some of the things David made: lobster souffle; turkey bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast puff pastry; raspberry custard; pancakes with wild blueberry compote; lobster home fries. Honestly, some of our best meals in Portland were eaten right in this very B&B. He even puts snacks in the second floor lounge area (there's also tea and chips) every day, and on an especially hot day he put out a pitcher of pink lemonade. It seems like almost all the cooking and cleaning is done by him. I'm not sure how he manages it and yet everything is flawless, but there you go. Reserve your room early because it was booked solid the whole time we were there. Totally worth it.

The bed was very comfortable with an assortment of different pillow types. I brought mine but left them in the car and my knees said nevermind then. Once we found Bayview Cabins, we were hooked! Our family continues to grow, so we each get a cabin. We ALL look forward to our vacation here every year. The owners Steve & Sherri make us all feel so comfortable, genuinely sweet people who work hard at keeping the place up. This summer my mother & I decided to take my 90yr old grandmother, who is wheelchair bound, away for a mini- vacation. From the moment we arrived, I was blown away at how handicap accessible Steve & Sherri had made our cabin (12 A&B). Steve came right outside, got wheelchair chair ramps for us, had already put up handicap handles in the shower and on the toilet. Each cabin I've been in, is always so clean. So neat. They have cute signs up that make them feel "homey". And my Gram especially liked the hanging plant in front of our cabin. Me & my entire family HIGHLY recommend this getaway!!!

This place was SOO convenient to everything around, several restaurants, shops and bars are in walking distance. The dock area is really nice and everyone seemed laid back, although there were kids running around, they didn't bother us. They provided a paddle boat, a row boat, a canoe and several tubes for us, which was really nice. The main building has an ice machine and free coffee. Only briefly interacted with the owner Steve, but everything went smoothly. The house itself was perfect for the two of us, the bed was comfy and the AC was strong enough.

It was the most perfect setting for a fun, kid, and dog-friendly celebration at the breathtaking Harpswell Lookout Point. At one point, as I was simply sitting in a rocking chair, gazing at the magnificent sea view, with birds chirping, kids' laughter echoing, and my dog peacefully by my side, I honestly felt like I was in a real-life "Calm Soundscape" - pure heaven. Harpswell Inn is truly a magical place. The lovely young couple who took over a few years ago have done an exceptional job preserving the traditional 1800s Maine vibe of the house while infusing it with modern, fun, and funky furniture. The staff, though a small and dedicated team, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I must give a special shout-out to Barbara, a true Harpswellonian, whose blueberry scones are absolutely divine! I even had a delightful small-town moment running into her aunt at the local Hannaford's in Brunswick. The thoughtful owners also provided a delicious continental breakfast, featuring locally roasted coffee, and offered kayaks and paddleboards for the more adventurous members of our group to enjoy. Our friends also inquired with Kelsey, the owner, about hosting a private chef for a special three-course meal. Kelsey went above and beyond, creating a gorgeous tablescape adorned with local flowers. She collaborated with a local private chef who focused on sourcing everything locally. Our culinary journey began with fresh oysters featuring traditional fixings and an amazing yuzu orange sauce, alongside a gorgeous cheeseboard as appetizers. Our three-course meal then commenced with a delightful tuna tartare salad with fried capers, followed by perfectly cooked NY Strip steak with garlicky chimichurri sauce, huge, delicious scallops, and incredible focaccia bread. The meal concluded with a delightful and refreshing key lime pie. The owners were also kind enough to arrange a separate, equally delicious meal for the kids, featuring a fun crunchy salad, mac and cheese, and brownie bites (yes, I tried it all!). If I could convince our group of friends to make this an annual tradition, and we could secure our spot early enough with the kind owners, I would absolutely make Harpswell Inn our go-to destination every 4th of July. Thank you, Kelsey, John, and Archer, for being such lovely and gracious hosts. We can't wait to return!

The cars that are parked in the pics are his to make it look busy. So we rented a unit for 4-5 days and was one of the worst places I've ever seen. First we showed up and the owner Mike was upset that we were 1 hour early. Not bad considering no one has been there in days . Next, his 2 person cleaning crew had quit over a dispute with money owed to them. I don't blame them at all. We lost electricity for 7 hrs during one of the days and Mike would not talk to us directly, he lied to us numerous times about a car accident that never happened. I called the town ELEC company and there were no reports of any at all. Then he told his two man crew who did come back to work to tell us they would have itnon any minute. 4 hrs later we were ready to leave this dump. So finally when the lights came on he told his people to lie to us yet again and say they shit the wrong property off . What a joke this was. All the dishes and silverware was disgustingly dirty and sticky . I spent my vacation skimming the pool because the owner was getting drunk and losing control over the rest of the property . Don't let them fool you, there is NO useable playground and the rotted wood that is below the slide has holes in it and the sand had dog and cat crap in it . There is no arcade like his advertising says . Just disgusted . But took a thousand pics to show all the code violations and to have for proof. My 11 year old was in the pool and discovered a Cut ELEC wire sticking out of the water being held by a Brick . But of course he was too busy sitting in his bedroom (drinking and drugging as we were told he does everyday and night by all the neighbors ) to ask about this wires . When he finally came to our door 3 days after arrival he was hammered and slurring all his speech. I have proof of everything I'm saying since I took video and pics of this crap hole . Do your family a favor and go somewhere else . Then this guy says he remembers us from last year which is a riot since we've NEVER even heard of this place but he claims he remembers us very well. I wouldn't let him pay us to come back Stay away !!!!

The self check in was a super easy process and both Tim & Jake were very welcoming. I loved their breakfast each morning, everything was local and amazing, down to their coffee! There's a water dispenser, Keurig machine (with reusable kcups!), tea and snacks avail 24/7. We stayed in room 1 which was just enough space for two. No issues with getting warm water in the shower. The only thing to note is that room 1 is right outside the communal area on the 2nd floor. We had no trouble with noise overall but if people outside the room were talking or walking by, we heard very clearly. Definitely recommend and would love to come back when it's warmer!
