There are both positive and negative aspects of my previous stay, but overall the negatives outweigh the positives and I most likely will not stay here again.
Positives:
The hotel itself is in a great location. The hotel is positioned well so that it is only a short walk from the main building to the pool and the beach. It is also only a short walk from the Nuevo Vallarta Marina (which however, is somewhat limited in restaurant choices).
Everything at the resort was aesthetically nice, other than the rooms which seemed a little outdated. It has a very large and nice beachfront with plenty of chairs and built in shading, as well as a volleyball court. The pool was also excellent - well kept up, plenty of entertainment from their Joy Squad, but not too loud.
The internet connection had a free option which was decent. We only had a few connectivity problems, but got the job done. It wasn't super fast so don't expect to stream videos or anything like that.
The staff, as well as the guests staying there, were all super nice and friendly. Their Joy Squad (who puts on the daily activities) were awesome. They were always happy and high energy, and did a great job with their activities.
The maid service the first two days was awful, as we got serviced at awful times (such as 4:45pm when we came up from the pool and wanted to shower and get ready for dinner), and they didn't seem to clean anything. However we got a new maid halfway through and she did an excellent job!
Negatives:
One of our biggest complaints is the fact that their own employees didn't understand the the promotions they advertised, and many times mischarged us and forced us to pay for things we did not order. The most common mistake was their 2 for 1 promotion (2 drinks for the price of 1). They would give us our two drinks that we ordered (1 supposedly free), and then tell us that they accidentally rang up both of the drinks on our tab. Instead of being able to edit their mistakes since apparently they couldn't, they would just make us two more free drinks (since they were technically the free drink to go along with the paid one) - which was nice except for now we have bought one more drink than we planned on buying, and can't leave until we drink them. This happened multiple times throughout our stay.
Besides our room being outdated, our toilet was awful. It would sometimes flush first try, but more often than not would require 3-4 flushes for it to actually flush. Also, upon our arrival, our room floor was filthy, as in we walked around in bare feet and they were dark and covered in dirt within 5 minutes. It took a couple days for them to actually clean it. The bed and pillows were also very hard. They definitely weren't comfortable. However I will say that midway through our stay they replaced all of our pillows with soft ones which was fantastic (not sure if that was a part of an overall replacement effort?).
Our room location was also terrible. Since we booked through RCI we didn't expect the best view there, but unfortunately we got the second floor, right above the loading dock. We couldn't even hardly see the street, just the loading dock and a gravel parking lot beside that.
While all of the food that we ordered off a menu was good, the breakfast buffet was not, and not as good of a deal as they make it seem. The food was just not great and they didn't have a huge assortment.
Last thing I will say is not to do the timeshare scam! When you check in, in order to "complete the check in process" you must sit down and talk with one their timeshare representatives who will try and convince you to come to a presentation about their properties. They will try and assure you it's not a timeshare presentation (it is!). We got out of it, however we heard stories from other guests we met about how they essentially hold you there for 6+ hours (because they have your IDs and won't give them back to you), forcefully try and sell you into property "ownership", and if you eventually don't buy in, they leave you about a mile from your resort to walk back at the end of the day without honoring any of the upgrades or discounts they promised you. read more
