Awesome kayak experience. We did a 3 hr tour from Tybee Island to little Tybee. Our guide was Steven, he was exemplary! He was knowledgeable of tides, the currents and the marine life we encountered. We were able to get out of the kayak twice to explore the sand bar as well as the exposed coast of Little Tybee, due to low tide. Steven told us about the land and helped us find creatures in the sand and tide pools. He had lots of information about everything we encountered. Highly recommend! read more

This was a spur of the moment activity for my family while on vacation and was probably the best money we spent all week. We did the 3 hour trip on the Tybee Creek, and had an amazing time! We saw dolphins, bonnethead sharks, blue crabs, stone crabs, stingrays, and so much more. Our guide was immensely knowledgeable and very friendly. Pointed out a lot of the animals and gave a lot of background into the area. We kayaked in Michigan and San Diego prior to this trip, and this was the best kayak trip we've taken so far. read more

We booked our tour at the office. Yes, the man behind the counter wasn't the friendliest but our guides were great! We booked a 3 hour tour to Little Tybee Island. There is just 3 in our family and there were about 15 in all. We had 3 guides for the whole group. There are some beginners and intermediate kayakers, young and old. The guides were fun and knowledgeable. One led the pack, one in the middle and the 3rd guide brought up the rear. They started by giving us instructions on how to row. After that, off we went. Right off the bat, we saw dolphins in the bay. Then, they led us through the marshes, told us where to row so we don't get caught in the oyster beds. One young boy didn't know how and was struggling so one of the guide tied a rope to the boy's kayak to his and towed him the rest of the trip. We learned a little bit about wildlife and even hunted down a couples of stingrays in the tidal pools. We had a little time on the beach to explore on our own. After that, we headed back. The man behind the counter drove us to and from the drop off points, I guessed he warmed up to us. On the way back, he was much more talkative and tested what we had learned on the trip and about the island. We felt safe and had a great time! read more

We had the best time kayaking with Kenneth! Everyone was super friendly and professional. Kenneth was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and best routes. Kenneth is your guy if you want a kind and patient teacher for SUP (stand up paddle boarding). He budgeted just the right amount of time for practicing and breaks and he gave great instructions without sounding bossy or condescending. Decades of sports injuries prevented me from excelling at the stand up part but he really went above and beyond to hold the board for me so I could practice. All of my expectations were met and exceeded. We saw dolphins and lots of other creatures too. Hope to visit again soon! read more

Not a good kayaking tour. The guide went too fast and was angry when some of us couldn't catch up. He also left a few of us behind in the marshes. The tour was designed to be for beginners, though the pace was not so. I would not recommend this tour for anyone. They took us to an island where people were camping and highly drunk. Also, the guide took us to a highly commercial waterway where we had to dodge speed-boats, jets skis, and sail boats. read more

My husband an I did the half day tour on a Thursday morning. I have no experience with any type of kayaking and was very comfortable on the tour. The guides for our tour were Preston and Michelle. I have never been in a sea kayak before in my life, and with their instruction I was able to get around on the water fairly proficiently. Preston to the lead and pushed the pace of the group a little for those of us who could move faster, and Michelle swept the back of the group. They were both very knowledgeable about the wildlife and ecosystem of the marsh. My only regret was not taking my camera with me. Everything from tiny fiddler crabs, to spitting oysters, to egrets, dolphins, a sharks...it was AMAZING. To comment on the previous user's review, I get the impression that she went on a weekend when the waterway and the island was MUCH busier than on a weekday. There was no one on the island we visited, but we did find a ripped beer can there. The guides told us that what seemed like a "private" island to us that day would be incredibly crowded on the weekend with people camping and drinking. The waterway we used to get to the marshes and the other island was fairly quiet. This allowed us to do a beach launch, which made me more comfortable. TIPS: There is a good sized space behind your seat back to put snack and water, but this space is not water tight. Go on a WEEKDAY if you can. read more

My boyfriend and I signed up for the 3-hour guided tour, and had a great time - I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Tybee Island! We went over Labor Day weekend, so we weren't surprised that 8 other people signed up for the tour, but our guides were able to keep the group together despite varying levels of experience. As other people have mentioned, expect Tybee to be crowded during peak weekends - we took a break halfway through the tour to stop at a beach, which is probably usually calm and deserted, but since it was Labor Day weekend there were lots of boats and people. I wouldn't say it was disruptive, but there was lots of loud country music playing from the boats, and I can see how on a weekday or less busy weekend the quiet of the marsh would be refreshing. Our guides were Reegan and Russ, who were both very knowledgeable and did a fantastic job going over kayaking technique, explaining the route for our trip, and navigating us through the marshes. The three hour tour was just the right length to see the natural vegetation and wildlife on Little Tybee Island, and on the way back we saw a pack of dolphins just a few hundred yards from our kayaks! When we were signing up for the tour they mentioned that we could either paddle on our own, or sign up for the guided tour - if you're at all uneasy about navigating through a marsh on your own I would recommend the guided tour. Plus, the staff is awesome and can provide a lot of information about the surrounding area. Definitely bring a water bottle, maybe a small snack, and a waterproof camera if you have one. read more

We had a wonderful kayaking experience on St. Patricks Day - I'd highly recommend it to people who are trying to AVOID the huge crowd in Savannah on St. Patricks Day! It was only 2 of us, with Michelle who is an awesome guide, very friendly and also extremely knowledgeable about the plants and animals in the area. I am only leaving this review because I REALLY wanted to take their tour offering. I stopped in and discussed days and options, and returned to discusses the final decision with the group. I was told to call and leave a message and they would call back. I called three times and left two messages. NO reply. Showed up at the discussed time and was told we couldn't go because they were not prepared for us and they wished they knew we were coming. I said I left messages and they acted like I was full of it. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I really wanted to spend $270 at their establishment, but just Rented from A-J and had a blast in the same general area. My friends and I decided we wanted to kayak while visiting Tybee, so we did a 3 hour tour with Tim as our guide. We only called to book our tour the day yesterday, but they had no problem setting up. Time for the six of us to go out this morning. We had a ton of fun even though all of us had different levels of experience! We saw lots of dolphins--including a few week old baby with its parents--as well as birds, crabs, fish, you name it! Getting through the reeds and grasses in the marsh was a little challenging when we first started out, but it was cool to see the area like that. Then once we got out on the more open water, Tim set a comfortable pace so we could see everything around us and not feel rushed. We had a great time checking out Little Tybee island and found all kinds of cool shells, crabs and different marine life which Tim was able to identify for us! If you enjoy getting out on the water or just want to try something different, definitely check them out! read more

Great fun with informative and helpful staff! Took the family including 11 and 13 year old girls for the 3 hour tour. It was hot. Some of us wish we had a broad-rimmed hat and sunglasses. My 11yo got overheated and guides Russ and Erica helped make what could have been a miserable experience for her into one that wasn't so bad. Take at least 3 bottles of water and a couple of energy snacks. We'll do this again! read more

We were here for Memorial Day weekend and looking for a Kayaking company to take us out. After calling a different company, they actually gave us the number to this place! So I called and set up our outing. It was very easy and simple to do. When we got there, the first impression is that the building is just downright cool! Very nautical feeling. Once we were out on the water, our guide was awesome! He had lots of cool facts and made the whole experience great. Anytime I am in Savannah/Tybee again I'll be coming back for sure. FYI - If you are new to this, the 3 hour tour is more than enough. If you do more that 3 hours you definitely run the risk of getting exhausted. read more

Beautiful day, patient and skilled guide who shared his love and knowledge of nature with us, boats perfectly suited to our needs. We saw a SPINNING SHARK arc out of the water three times as we crossed from Tybee to Little Tybee. We explored Jack's Cut, seeing cormorants, egrets, osprey, and a huge eagle nest. The dolphins were active around us as we crossed back over to Tybee. We look forward to more adventures with Sea Kayak Georgia! read more

We have traveled all over and have experienced so many wonderful adventures, and this was wonderful!;). We did the 2 hour sunset tour! Our guides were just the sweetest, most knowledgeable locals, who loved their environment!!;) In our group there were 2 adults and 3 kids! 1 child (14 yrs) paddled by herself, and the other two kids (both 8 yrs) paddled with the adults! It was a little difficult, but worth every second;) we were able to stop and break, and the guides gave us a little tour of the beach and a bit of information about the eco system!!;) So bring water and a little snack;). We had a great experience with this tour company. We went on the kayaking tour in the am. Our two guides were very helpful and knowledgeable of the island and answered all of our questions. The area we kayaked was beautiful and definitely would only be able to experience it by a boat otherwise. Don't worry about experience either. They will teach you there also. read more

Rented two double sit-on-tops, no guides. Boats and equipment were fine, but I was not at all impressed with the person who was, I assume, the proprietor. I got the distinct impression that I was nothing but a burden to him - and I am not a newbie, having paddled extensively and professionally. Taciturn and grumpy as the day is long, almost surly at times. I have rarely been treated this way, especially in a place like Tybee, and it was disappointing. As a complete novice, I signed up for a 3 hour private lesson with Michelle. She was terrific and the lesson was excellent and well worth it. She taught me how to get in and out of the kayak safely, how to roll, and several ways to get back in. She showed me several strokes, took me around, and gave me comfort and confidence that I can safely and enjoyably kayak the coastal waterways. I actually bought one of their training kayaks and have been out on my own, just loving it. read more

Went with a group of 7 for a six day custom trip with Marsha. It was fantastic. Marsha is so great to have as a guide. Extremely knowledgeable and generous, fun and flexible. Safety is always first but fun comes a close second. Great equipment and food as well. She took us to unbelievably beautiful and varied places to paddle. Learned a lot about Georgia history and the environment. She's an expert paddler as well and happy to teach which she does with a calm and clear style. FANTASTIC all the way around!! read more
