    Technics and JVC turntables
    P H.

Greg is truly amazing. He overhauled two turntables for me and even found a stylus for my JVC. He even had a small pair of speakers that fit my needs perfectly. His prices are also very reasonable. I highly recommend him for any of your audio needs.

    Pioneer PL-530 & Sansui 9090

Exceptional service. Greg did a killer job working on multiple pieces that I brought to him. Pioneer PL530 turntable was tuned up and returned in perfect order. He also beautifully restored a Sansui 9090 receiver that had multiple issues internally. Prices were fair and communication was great. Can't recommend Sea Level enough and will definitely be back in the future if I have more equipment that needs restoration or looking to purchase more equipment.

Music and laughter have proven to be good medicine. If this be so, Dr. Duncan's therapy seems to be working. This is my 61st year as an audiophile and concert goer. I can't get out as much as I once did to hear a live orchestra or jazz ensemble, but Greg allows me to bring a live performance to my listening room. He keeps my audio system purring and never tries to sell "snake oil". I trust his judgement and expertise and he has always come through with outstanding suggestions. He has built a following through integrity and saving his clientele serious money.

Repaired and working dual 601 turntable

Got my Dual 601 turntable in great working condition very reasonable repair cost also would use him again.

    Vintage 1970's speakers restored!

Ask the Community - Sea Level Sound

Do they do house-calls? I have an old turn table cabinet, solid oak and very heavy.

I don't know that they do cabinetry. If it's audio gear, they can probably help. They've been out to my place several times, but that was before the pandemic. Why not call them? 619-548-2641

Greg diagnosed it on the spot within 10 minutes and said he could probably fix it in a "half hour" (really?).

Wait outside on the sidewalk (no exterior seating) and someone will come to take you inside. Do not ring the door bell. The theme is to take it slow. Each customer typically waits 20-30 minutes to enter as part of how they do things, even if there is open seating inside. Not sure if they use a timer to space entries but it seems consistent. They take one group in at a time. Interior: A few tables around the wall and then bar seating. Would not recommend for parties greater than 2, there just isn't the space. They welcome service animals, babies/children and strollers from what I observed. The music was very, very loud. It was difficult to hold a conversation. I did not see a bathroom. Ordering process: After seating you wait for a little bit for them to bring small water cups and a QR menu with a table number and a set of rules. They do not have a physical menu, you must use your phone to order. Cell phone reception was dicey and took a long time to load. They have an interesting concept where you have a digital 'tab' open on their toast website. Unfortunately you must provide your full name, email and phone number. They have pour over drinks (note these can take 15-20 minutes), matcha, Hojicha and others. You may only order one drink per person at a time. They have a small snack menu with rotating foods. They use oat milk only. No substitutions allowed. After mobile ordering, drinks take 20-30 minutes as part of their take it slow vibe. Matcha $8 is from Paru tea and was very good. Hojicha $8 was too milky and didn't have a strong enough flavor. When you are done you walk to the register by the door and wait to be checked out. If they are making a drink you wait until they are finished. I wasn't really a fan. Staff were brusque. Music was too loud to converse.

If it was possible to leave a less than one star review I would, but unfortunately Yelp doesn't…read moreallow that. I had an absolutely nightmarish experience regarding the delivery, and installation/haul-away of a refrigerator. I had originally scheduled the delivery of a new fridge on a Monday between 11-3, not a big deal seeing as the fridge was purchased on a Friday. Well, needless to say that didn't work out at all. Why you ask? Well, it starts with BestBuy contracting w/local non-affiliated delivery companies. Delivery drivers and companies that have zero fcuks to give. So much so that they fail to call regarding arrival, follow delivery instructions, or barely make an effort to attempt to make contact with a human being. Then they bail. Forget trying to get ahold of a human when you call customer service b/c it doesn't exist. Everything gets routed thru a queue, a chat agent, or an automated text bot. When you finally get a response it's nothing more than a bunch of canned excuses and a reschedule for delivery 2x days later, including another delivery window, this time it's 3-7. Come on. Well, now it's Wednesday and now I'm all about bubble stalking the delivery driver thru BestBuy's delivery web tracker, a small win if you can call it that. This time the driver actually calls and arrives on time. But that's where the good ends. The delivery clowns ask to enter the building and come and eye fcuk the old fridge. At first the main guy balks at the size of the current fridge and has size concerns about removing it and putting the new one in and has to call dispatch or whoever his taskmaster is. Now I'm starting to get a case of the ass. He comes back in and says he can't remove the old fridge. WTF?! Ok, I'll remove it and they can take it. Nope. All they can do is leave the new one. Again, WTF?! I paid for delivery/installation/haul away. They call dispatch again, I'm getting madder. They now say Geek Squad has to come and finish the installation and haul the old fridge away. Umm... a total lie/fabrication. Then they just bail. Well, now it's all about trying to contact customer service again for someone else to come out and un-ass their grand fcuk up. Unbelievable!!! Now I have to wait until Friday where some asshat from BestBuy will show up between 7-7 and fix this clusterfcuk of a gigantic mess. Long story short, don't shop at BestBuy!!! The company plainly doesn't care about customer service anymore. Terrible value for your money. Save it and go to a smaller retailer or a mom and pop shop. P.S. I ended up swapping out the old/new fridge myself, including connecting the water for the dispenser/ice maker. Shocking.

But they only handled Elan and I wanted to go to Control 4. I interviewed 4 companies and Javier was the only one to point out that we had Cat 3 cable and to get the highest speeds we needed to go to Cat6, which would require some rewiring. Also, other companies me told that I needed an equipment rack to straighten out the cable mess in my cabinet. Javier said he could take care of that without a rack. This would be a cost saving of about $2000! I found the following to be very positive about Javier and the team he works with: 1) Always available (I've contacted him early in the AM and late at 9pm and he always answered promptly, courteously, and knowledgeably. 2) He bid what was needed and got me the best prices possible 3) He was on time and on budget 4) He left the job site clean 5) Everything worked! 6) His bid was half of what my prior vendor bid for a system that provides everything we need and more. 7) Before Javier, we never got more than 200Mbps even though we paid for gigabit service. With Javier's upgrade we now get over 900MBPS everywhere in the house. I include a before and after picture so you can see his handiwork. There was an Amp and AVR in an adjacent cabinet that he was able to consolidate into the one neat setup where everything can be accessed easily. I highly recommend Javier, Alan and Mike for your AV needs. I'll definitely use them again.

I had done a lot of research in replacing my current receiver since I had purchased a 4K TV that would not communicate with my old technology. I have two amplifiers, several zones and speakers controls as well as surround sound system. Their installation team was exceptional and very knowledgeable. Mark is the owner but is also in the store to answer questions either in person or over the phone. I believe they were the first store to sell McIntosh gear way back when. Anyone who knows about McIntosh knows that not only are they one of the most revered and respected names in audio going back decades, they are extremely selective about who they allow to sell their products. I have been an A/V enthusiast for 30 years but was new to San Diego and hadn't established a working relationship with a local company. I was in a time crunch to get a whole house system put in my condo while other work was being done so if holes had to be put in walls or wires run I wanted to get it done before drywall and paint would be there. I went with Home Theatre San Diego, huge mistake! I found Brier and they had the unpleasant task of having to try to retrace the other companies steps and mistakes in order to fix them. This is tedious and alot of patience is required. My installer, Dillon is not only amazing at his job but he could not be more friendly. They not only found all of the mistakes, they also offered more efficient or cheaper ways to get the same thing done. Where before I heard a bunch of times "That can't be done" Dillon would say "Yea that can be done and I'll make it extremely user friendly. They don't have a large showroom but don't look let the modest location fool you. I can't recommend them enough and I am very picky/OCD about meticulous work.
