I purchased a 1959 Miracord turntable from a site overseas to go with a newly inherited Grundig cabinet. Although in excellent condition, the turntable arm excursion was badly out of balance. Also, the gears of the platter were not well lubricated, apparently. Greg was able to bring this antique into a well functioning record player, despite the challenges of extremely old gears. Greg is a true genius whose incredible passion and talent are obvious! My CD player was broken with a very sentimental CD stuck in it. That and my 1970's turntable are what made me look for someone to help me. In less than 5 minutes he had the CD out and diagnosed its condition as terminal (no real surprise). Knowing I wanted to replace it, he suggested finding me a vintage CD carousel for less than 1/3 the price I'd have spent on a new one!! Within one week, success! What a guy!! He checked out my turntable (I was planning to buy a new one since it so old) and gave me the goods news that it just needs a nudge to get it started (even the needle is still good)! I stumbled on to finding Sea Level Sound while looking for an old audiophile store called Breier in Clairemont Mesa. It closed and had my vintage Dual 1971 1219 turntable with me for a tuneup. I called Greg owner of Sea Level and he squeezed me in at 12:45pm. I showed up and knew immediately this guy knew the vintage audio space. Repairs of classic equipment and a cool showroom in his home. I purchased a pair of one of my favs- KLH MODEL 20 speakers. As Greg was handling another client putting a cool system together. I brought in my JVC tuner to get the tuner knob re-strung and fix the built in protection circuit that kept coming on prematurely. After the "fix" I took it home and tested it... It's the same. The circuit still comes on just like it used to. I tried returning it within the so called 30 day warranty but he said that problem wasn't even written up on the invoice. Looking at his scribbled receipt it's clear he doesn't listen to his customers when they explain a problem to him while dropping off. I'm not at all happy. I'd give him less except he seemed a nice guy and he did successfully replace a woofer in one of my pioneers. Nice didn't fix my tuner. read more

I am very, very pleased with my purchase. I was hesitant at first considering the one-star review, did my homework on what amplifiers I was looking into, and Greg had sold one of the amplifiers that I was seriously interested in. He recommended a couple others that he had that were a little out of my price range, but based on reviews of one of the models I made an appointment with Greg. He was very patient in me testing the amplifier, trying some of his different speakers, allowing me to test at different volume levels, etc. I'm broke and saved up over a long period, so I didn't want a purchase that would need repairs or maintenance any time soon. The late 70's early 80's JVC a-x3 amp I checked out had virtually no issues (if any, especially considering its age... a little bit of scratch in the pots but that's to be expected and Greg took care of it/fixed it right away). It was virtually flawless. I am somewhat of a sound elitist having studied production at Berklee and also super in debt. The integrated amp was and still is amazing (1.5 mo. Later), and the price was fair. I have a lot of respect for Greg, the care he put into this amp and his studio, his respect toward me, and his patience and understanding in me taking the time to test this amp and come to a well-informed decision that I could sleep (happily I might add) at night with. I very much love this quality piece of gear and very much appreciate Greg and his commitment to high-quality maintenance of said gear and high quality customer service. If I ever buy another piece I'll be sure to go to Greg because of his quality equipment and sincerity and (imho) his trustworthiness. The receiver developed a buzz in one channel and Greg worked on it a couple of times (free) before replacing it with another similar sweet Kenwood receiver -- this AFTER his 30-day return policy. I first contacted Greg recently after seeing that he had fixed up a beautiful Marantz receiver model that I'd been seeking out for a while.
