    Kayaks ready to go

This was a fantastic way to spend our day. Our guides, Anna and Shelby are fun, knowledgeable, kind, patient, and bubbly. Both of women were very professional while also creating a fun atmosphere that allowed us to connect with the other amazing people that joined us on our adventure. Although we didn't see any animals we did have a blast hiking around the island getting to know the other people that were also in our group. This is a perfect way to spend the day, get some sun, get some exercise, and see a new part of Montana. The lunch was the perfect amount of fuel for our adventure. The guides made sure we had fun, where safe, and stayed hydrated. They are both such experienced knowledgeable guides not only about wild horse Island but also about Montana in general. Sign up for this tour you won't regret it!!! This isn't a one time only type of thing either. I would love to do it again. I loved everything about my experience

We were at volunteer park when we found sea me paddle right across. Met BJ who made it easy to set things up for me and my kids. We were hoping to do the wild horse day trip but wind conditions were not the best and so decided on the two hour. It was a great choice as it enabled all of us with novice to basic skills to individually kayak. My 11 year old wanted to do her own kayaking as well and this was ideal. Niko was our guide and we set out along the Somer lake start point , and went along. Niko took us to a small place where the kids could swim safely and had fun jumping into the lake. The kids were thrilled to bits . Niko is a great guide and knows the area well. Hoping to do wild horse day trip next time , weather and wind speed permitting . But will use BJ and his team as we were well taken care of and felt confident in their hands .

I used this company on whitefish lake at whitefish lake state park. Super smooth process and such an amazing experience/view!

The guides from Sea Me Paddle were so welcoming and the entire experience felt really personal! It was very serene kayaking out to Wild Horse Island. We did not see any wildlife unfortunately but it was still a beautiful excursion. Would definitely do it again!

Male Big Horn Sheep lounging. It was HOT!

I highly recommend doing the kayak tour to Wild Horse Island with Jolie and the team at See Me Paddle! The day ranked in my top 10 All-Time vacation days. 2-mile kayak with Jolie giving us a verbal history lesson of the area. The scenery was amazing! The water crystal clear and relatively calm. Light breeze. Sun beaming. Just a perfect Montana summer day! Once on the island, Jolie gave us some direction and we were off with packed (super-tasty) VEGAN and VEGETARIAN lunches, binoculars and plenty of water provided by See Me Paddle. We chose to hike the larger mountain (2-miles up 2 miles back) and along the way we saw wild horses, some Big Horn Sheep and Mule Deer. Straight outta National Geographic. The view from the top was spectacular especially watching the Big Horn Sheep come down the mountain trail. Full confession: I really needed a larger lens for my camera, but oh well. Check out some of the shots below. After a 2 mile hike back down the trail, we earned a dip into a crisp, refreshing Flathead Lake. Jolie gave us a few extra moments to soak it all in. Back in the kayaks and off we went for a 2-mile paddle back to shore. Just perfect!

These guys and gal were awesome. Everyone was full of enthusiasm and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this trip. Wilson Coulter and Loretta made it safe and fun!!

Really disappointed with how we were treated here, especially after planning around this for weeks…read more This was our first time trying Basecamp Bigfork. We've rented kayaks from other places around the lake for years without issue, even in unpredictable weather, but this year we thought we'd try something new (don't). We had a reservation for the 4th and came fully prepared: rented a U-Haul to transport and store the kayaks, brought our own gear, safety lights, and had a secure location to store the boats overnight. We communicated clearly leading up to the reservation, repeatedly assuring them that we wouldn't go out unless the weather conditions improved. We were asking for the option to maybe go out if it cleared up. Instead, they cancelled the reservation last minute with no room for discussion. They kept bringing up that it was "getting too late," even though we were still within our scheduled time and in regular contact. It felt like they didn't trust us to make our own judgment call, and that was especially frustrating given how much planning we had done and how careful we were being. It completely derailed our holiday plans, and they showed no real effort to accommodate or even acknowledge that. No flexibility, just a blanket cancellation with a shrug. We've dealt with unpredictable Montana weather before and had a plan, but never with a company this rigid or dismissive.

Book Early - It's Amazing if you love nature and DOGS!…read more So, 3 years ago I called in early November to get a reservation for a half day dogsledding trip over Christmas week, and was told they were all booked up. So, when we decided over the summer to go to Whitefish for the holidays, I called and made a reservation (this was in August!). Seriously, it was at least 4 months in advance and I pretty much stalked them until I got confirmation that I had secured a reservation. Upon arriving in the Flathead Valley, I noticed how little snow there was and started to worry that the dogsledding would be canceled, but luckily, Mark texted that it was still on and he had a location that still had snow and we'd be fine. Thank goodness! Upon arrival, we were given a tour of the kennel, met the 6 dogs that were going to be our team, and loaded them up in the trailer. We got a bit of a lesson on how to manage the sled and then drove about 40 minutes south to an area that had a good amount of snow and got the dogs all harnessed up and off we went! There were two of us, so one of us was standing and driving the sled, and one of us was sitting as a passenger. We were able to switch out throughout the trip, so we both got to be the driver for a portion of the trip. When you are the passenger, you can take pictures and video, which is nice, but standing and driving the sled is the BEST part. We sledded down a road for quite a while, letting the dogs take breaks as needed. Mark, the owner of the company, managed the team by cross country skiing along side us the entire way to make sure the dogs behaved, gave us instruction and lead the way. It's quite amazing how much physical effort he puts in for you to have a great time - he basically exercises for two hour straight. The second half of the tour included heading into the back country, sledding through trees on a narrow trail. OMG - this was amazing! We stopped along the river and had hot chocolate, which was such a nice way to enjoy the scenery and let the dogs rest, take pictures and pet and kiss the dogs. If you are still debating if you should do this, I would say don't hesitate - DO IT. Especially if you are in good physical condition, enjoy outdoor activities and love dogs. It is such a unique and amazing day. Also, Mark is a fantastic guide, he makes it fun, light and he is so incredibly nice. The dogs are super sweet (although, they do get a bit rowdy and occasionally get into little tiffs with each other) and the scenery is outstanding. I seriously had a smile on my face the entire time, laughing continuously as we went through the trees. We had a blast and I'm so grateful we got to experience this day, it was the highlight of our trip. Last note, I wasn't sure what to wear. I would dress like you are going skiing. Since sometimes you are sitting, you get a bit more chilly, so dress in layers. I had on Sorel winter snow boots, ski pants, thermal underwear top and bottom, a fleece and a puffer jacket, along with warm ski socks, a warm hat and my ski gloves. If it is a really cold day, I'd get those hand warmers and foot warmer things that you can put in your boots and gloves.

Views views views!…read more Great change of pace after days of hiking. I rented a 1 seater kayak from glacier outfitters. It may look like a far walk but it isn't! Totally doable. The staff was very nice to explain everything to me. They showed me the lake map and where to go and not go, etc. Instructions were very clear. I rented 2 hours (they have you 15 mins for the round trip walk). The walk from the rental to the lake I thought was a bit of a walk but it was not bad to haul the kayak there, they are on wheels so it is not bad. You leave the wheels near the trees. Returning the kayak was fairly easy as well. There are lockers available that you can put your stuff if you don't want to take it with you. The minimum number of hours is 2 hours and it was 40 something. Overall it was a good experience! Everything was great. Would recommend and use service again.

We made reservations at Glacier Outfitters for kayaks for the day. (highly recommend reservations)…read more There is a small parking lot and some street parking but it was not a busy day and it was full. We had people waiting for our parking spot when we returned to the car. I'm not sure where people would park when it gets very busy. Perhaps there is another parking lot I didn't see. When you walk up to G.O. you sign waivers, pay the fee and are gathered in an area for instructions. The man who provided the instructions was very informative. Advised us of areas in Flathead Lake to avoid including a rough water area and a few bald eagle's nests as they recently laid eggs. After instructions, you are provided with the kayak, paddle, life jacket and a cart to roll the kayak down to the lake. Now, I'm pretty strong but the kayaks are heavy. I did think to myself, how would someone with less strength get this kayak down to the lake? Something to ask about if you are renting as it is several yards to walk with a heavy kayak. The carts were easy to remove and stash while we spent the day in the lake. When you finish kayaking, you simply load the kayak back on the cart and roll it back to G.O., drop off gear and you are done. We had a great experience with Glacier Outfitters and would use them again.
