Sea Rocket Oyster House was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to Prince Edward Island. Not only did they serve the best oysters we had on the island, but every single dish exceeded our expectations. We sat outside on Victoria Row, and there was live music from Always on Stage throughout dinner. It created such a fun atmosphere and made for the perfect summer evening. We took our server Brooke's recommendations and ordered a half dozen raw oysters, the Chickpea Salad, the Baked Oysters 3 Ways (Rockefeller Butter, Champagne Cream, and Miso Aioli), Salmon, Lobster Thermidor, and the Ube Cheesecake for dessert. I'm so glad we trusted her because every dish was absolutely exceptional. Everything was incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and packed with flavor. The oysters were the standout of the meal and easily my favorite on PEI. Brooke was wonderful throughout the evening. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu, making the entire dining experience even better. The service was great. Everyone was friendly and polite. Street parking is free after 5pm on Friday (not sure about other days). I came without a reservation and they were out of tables inside, but the outside dining area was pretty and clean. It was covered by umbrellas and there were heaters placed around. The food came out quickly for how busy it was, and everything was hot and freshly prepared. Some of my friends enjoyed their food, some didn't. We all got gluten free. Two got the chicken sandwich, and one of them liked it. One loved their fish and chips. I wasn't a fan of my lobster roll. The gf buns were Udi's, which are very dry and crumbly. They fall apart if they get squished or pressed, and if they get moist. I do appreciate that they have gf buns, but I wish they were good ones. We all enjoyed the fries. They were careful with cross contamination, and pan fried the fish to make sure it wasn't contaminated with gluten batter. I really liked how clear the menu was with what is and isn't gf. We asked a server if the fish and chips was dairy free, and she said yes. Then a different server ran over and told us it was not. They *can* make it dairy free but since we didn't ask for it, they hadn't. They offered to remake it, but we didn't need it to be, we just needed to know. We were looking for a place to have oysters and, of course, there were a number of places to choose from. The outside vibe of Sea Rocket was so inviting so we decided to give it a try. We were lucky to get one of the last available outdoor tables! Sarah, who helped us, was very pleasant and helpful. We started off with the baked oysters that came 3 ways: with champagne cream, Rockefeller and miso aioli. We loved them all although I thought the champagne cream was a a tad salty. We also shared the perfectly cooked salmon served with romesco and pickled onions. This dish stole the show! Each bite was a symphony of flavors, every component complemented each other. Alas, the 2 dishes were not enough and made us order a dozen more of 3 types of oysters, They were all really good and served with Mignonette and cocktail sauce. We came a few days in a row to Sea Rocket Oyster House which is located in the house of downtown Charlottetown Prince Edward Island. It's on the corner of the main artery and a side street, which is pedestrianized. They offer unbelievably fresh beautiful oysters on half shelf for happy hour. Those were some of the best tasting oyster's we have ever had. Highly highly recommend. The staff are welcoming and attentive. They also have a great selection of wines by the bottle or glass. Ideal afternoon activity . The restaurant is beautifully decorated with booths, high tops and window tables. You can also sit outside should you desire. They have heating lamps if needed. read more

This is a really nice place on Victoria Row. They have a corner spot with patio seating on both corners. There's also plenty of indoor dining spaces as well. If you're looking for a good vibe, this would be the place. Food-wise: There's a large variety of to choose from on the menu. We got a bunch of things to try and while it was all fine, nothing really stood out to me that made me think, "oh wow, that was delicious!" We did enjoy the fresh oysters though, but those are raw and don't really require cooking... lol. I usually love salmon tartare but something just tasted off about this one IMO. I will say that while our server was nice, the service was quite slow. It was Wednesday afternoon and not too busy. It took about twenty minutes for the oysters and then another 20 minutes for the rest of our food to arrive (so 40 long minutes of being hungry!) Trying to get the bill took forever too. We didn't see our server for a while so we asked another server that was helping another table. I'm not sure if she forgot, so I went inside to ask someone else for help. We really enjoyed this place! Our server was named Simon and he was excellent! We started off with a couple of drinks and some oysters. We got a six pack of oysters to sample what they had and then decided on our favorite and ordered six more. Of course the local Irish Point PEI oysters were the winners. We got stuck in Charlottetown when the weather was too bad for our cruise ship to disembark. What good fortune! I checked out all the reviews in town and this place clocks in at over 4.5. Since this is my only night here I wanted the famous PEI mussels. Here's the thing you need to know: The reviews are right. This is the best I've ever had. There are so many hefty mussels in this bowl and the broth is just perfection. The chowder was a warm hug. These fries are just right. So good I had to come twice while visiting Charlottetown! First visit, we sat at the bar. All the bartenders were super friendly and nice. Freshest oysters I've ever had. I live in the PNW and love when I get my hands on PEI oysters so it was a real treat to have my favorite oysters so fresh. My favorites are Rasberry Point but Sand Dunes are a close second. The second visit we decided to get oysters and some dinner too. The fish and chips were some of the best on the island! We also got the beet salad which was great too. We all ordered fries, and we all got tiny stubs that were more like a plate of tiny potato bits, my mom had to ask for a fork in order to be able to eat them. We arrived at noon when the restaurant wasn't very busy. A group of 5 with three children, we ordered an appetizer, drinks and the entrees. We waited 40 minutes for the appetizer and nearly 90 minutes for the entrees. Considering that the entrees were oysters, a chicken sandwich, chowder and grilled cheese, we were left wondering if we had been forgotten. After watching several tables come and go during our endless wait, we brought this to the attention of the waitress. To pass the time, we started drafting the inevitable review and debated how to balance the excellent food with the abysmal speed of service. Pros: Food was great. The sea-cuterie board was unique and well done. The chowder was hearty and fresh. They generously comped the Oysters, protectively, given the poor speed of service. This gesture, while too little too late, saved the overall experience from a zero tip. Cons: Excessive waits. I don't think I've ever waited this long. When the kids meals arrived (after almost an hour for grilled cheese), my wife and I were left without food for a further 30 minutes. Each shell carried a burst of ocean sweetness, paired well with a splash of lemon and/or mignonette to elevate its sugariness. The size of each half shell ranged anywhere from large to miniature though. The lobster meat had a creamy and herby coating hugged by a soft but bland bun. While the seafood chowder had good flavor, there wasn't much content in the bowl other than potatoes. Nice ambiance inside with booths, high tables and bar seating. When I knew I was going to be visiting Prince Edward Island, there was one thing I knew I had to do, eat oysters! PEI is known for fresh, delicious seafood, especially shellfish and as a fan of fresh oysters, I could not wait to order! Sea Rocket did not disappoint, they had some of the freshest and tastiest oysters I've had and the house mignonette they serve them with was excellent! If you can, be sure to try the Northern Belles and Raspberry Point varieties but if they're not available or you're not sure what to order, don't worry the wait staff can let you know what's on the raw bar and give a recommendation. It's a great location in the pedestrian traffic only area of Victoria Row right in the heart of Charlottetown. The initial service was a little slow, standing around awkwardly while wait for a host to seat us but apart from that and a few minor cosmetic blemishes, the restaurant is great and certainly delivered. They have more than oysters by the way so if that's not what you're looking for, don't let the name deter you. We had some great crab dip and truffle fries too and there's much more on the menu as you can see in my photo. read more

What a great place to end our journey at Charlottetown around a delicious dinner in a lovely stylish and modern place! Our waiter was so helpful and we were glad to take his suggestions! We started with oysters from different areas around PEI and we did enjoy the tasting going from mild but refreshing taste (Rustico) to buttery and rich in minerals (pickle point). A huge restaurant, almost packed. Thankfully we had a reservation. But the service in the beginning was super slow, but finally it picked up. The restaurant design was a bit uneasy. Colors are unmatched (yellow/blue/beige/black); there are booths, tables/chairs and seating at the bar. It felt very congested. Our waitress was sweet. We delicious food, with baked oysters, surf and turf (good portion, meat part was belly pork than the usual steak), and fish taco with green salad. Cocktail was delicious- gave a great first impression. I then ordered the halibut, server came back later and said that they were out. Ordered the chickpea salad with chicken and asked if they could leave out the raw spinach- I can't digest raw spinach without a lot of discomfort. Server then came back and said the kitchen could not separate the spinach from the salad- could I order something else? So I ordered the potato leek dip - which was very bland and the tortilla chips tasted a bit stale. I also ordered pan fried haddock. It was soggy and so-so. Server was kind, but messed up our bill and asked us to overlook that the had charged us for something that we didn't order but then didn't charge for something else instead. The total was still wrong as the swapped items were $7 less. Then given the option to tip a minimum of 18% on the machine. Does it bug anyone else that restaurants do this now? I thought 15% was the standard - when you get good service? My husband enjoyed his food- so I gave 2 stars- but we both agreed that for try e price range ($160 for dinner for two) there are much better options on Charlottetown. For example- the last time we ate at a competitor- and my husband ordered the salmon and they were out the restaurant discounted his meal- without being asked as a way of apology. read more

Second time in Charlottetown since they opened and I definitely came back. The food is amazing and the service is friendly and prompt. The owner even came by to say hi and see how things were. Worst experience ever for a meal in PEI! The music was blaring over our table so loudly we couldn't hear each other talk. We asked 3 different people 3 times for the music to be turned down and it only seemed to get louder.
