    Seafood fried rice

I ordered the seafood fried rice from the Captain's Boil through a delivery app. This is not the 1st time I ordered the seafood fried rice and I always enjoyed the dish. But this time the fried rice tasted "off". Not too sure what happened.

This is my second captains boil experience and after a disappointing previous one, I was excited to try this place out. We got seated right away and ended up ordering a pound of the crawfish with lemon garlic sauce, pound of shrimp with captain boils sauce and a pound mix and match of the shrimp and clams with the boil sauce. Make sure you look at the signs for market prices to know how much it costs. The boils sauce is definitely the star here and quite addicting! It was salty with the perfect hint of spice to it. The lemon one was too salty so I won't be getting it next time. The crawfish was decent, a little pricey for the amount of meat. However, the shrimp was amazing and definitely worth the money. I would solely just get the shrimp next time. The sides were okay and quite small so definitely something you shouldn't order on its own as it was pricey. Overall a decent experience!

This is my first visit to this seafood restaurant, and i was completely satisfied with the experience. The service was extremely good, welcoming staff and very friendly. The place was very clean and it wasn't as busy though it was a weekend. I have tried the lobster with special sauce, clams with lemon pepper sauce, cajun fries and cajun fried rice, all mild heat. Every item was delicious, perfectly cooked and freshly made. I loved the cajun fries and I believe it s my favorite, we couldn't finish the fried rice with seafood, the next day it was even better. I would recommend you to give this place a try if you are into seafood, I, myself, will be visiting it soon to try other items on the menu.

We tried the Dungeness crab and lobster both in captain's sauce. Ingredients were sooo fresh but the sauce is slightly too oily and salty for my liking. Service was decent though our waitress could be more attentive. Overall a nice and fun experience. Just remember not to wear white

Where do I even start, this place is absolutely amazing, one of the best seafood places in the city, I could eat here every night, service was amazing as well, I love that everyone gets gloves and bibs to wear, just so greeat!

I appreciate the fact that they've stayed open throughout the pandemic and has continued to offer fresh seafood. Really recommend the captains boil sauce!!

The captains boil sauce with shrimp and corn and a side of Cajun fries. It was delicious!

Such a fun and different way of eating your food! Your given a bib and gloves to eat your meal, which is served inside a bag with the sauce of your choice. If anyone's ever been to The Boiling Crab in Los Angeles it's pretty comparable. If you like spicy I would recommend the 'fire' heat choice. I got medium heat and it definitely had a kick to it but not as much as I would have liked.

The royalty opts for bone-in cuts of pork that feature the perfect amount of intramuscular fat, rendering it ultra-tender, moist and indulgent. The crust is heavily caramelized with a robust, glossy sweet-savory char siu glaze that beautifully balances sweet and savory. One bite past the glassy, crisp exterior of the tofu, and you'll be addicted, too. You'll find a silky-smooth, tender interior seasoned with the magic of garlic powder. Next, house-made silver needle noodles are addictively chewy and tossed in a fragrant oil synthesized from cured pork lard and dried shrimp. These are trending times for this trio of shrimp rolls. Try the traditional take, or turn to the crispy touch of the lacy, crispy fritter-like batter that shatters with an addictive crisp, not overshadowing the sweet bounce of the shrimp. In another wispy nest of crispy batter, innovation takes the form of crisp shrimp and sweet canned peaches, which punch me with a hit of nostalgia when dipped in the fruity, sweet salad mayo. The taro dumplings don't overload on grease despite being deep-fried, and the creamy, silky taro envelops a savory filling of pork and chives. Serve these BBQ Pork Buns at any bakery, and be prepared for a snaking line long before you open. The steamed bun is grounded in tradition: a pillowy, soft white dough filled with glazed BBQ pork. Contrastingly, the golden bun is fluffy and airy, topped with a sweet, crisp pineapple exterior that is just one of the pleasures of this bao. It's packed with tender char siu - sweet and rich with umami from red fermented beancurd - and elevated with crunchy pine nuts and subtle acidity from pineapples. Also balancing sweet and savoury are the salted egg yolk lava buns; their carefully balanced contents are dangerously molten. Continuing with the classics, the colossal shrimp dumplings command the centre with noble courage. Created from the conventional, lard-infused wrapper that's resilient yet translucent, holding up the chunky shrimp filling that's fresh, crisp, and naturally sweet. Their top-tier Siu Mai takes the amalgam of land and sea to another level. Also oversized, it delivers a juicy pork umami, bouncy sweet shrimp and earthy shiitake savoriness, finally finished with dried scallops. In support of the steamed set of salivating servings, the collagen-rich chicken feet fall right off the bone; Chiuchow dumplings bring emphasis to peanuts, minced chicken, chives and water chestnuts; and the spinach dumpling is a standout choice even for meat-lovers. Dessert was barely on our minds as we went too overboard - understandably so - from the get-go, so pace yourselves.

The food portions are pretty decent and the taste was standard Cantonese style Chinese food. The dishes also came out reasonable pace, not too fast and not too slow. They did mix up one of our orders but helped correct it after asking another server. Flavours were good but a bit too salty for my personal preference. The decor is pretty nice and the utensils and seating was done nicely. There's a lot of seafood tanks in the area and a lot of birthday celebrations around us.

I went there for lunch earlier and picked up two shrimp boils in medium spice, robot blend and it was great as usual. Service is always amazing and today was no different. The place is quite small though nicely decorated. They use robots to carry the food around so I found that the service was went quite smoothly. My friend ordered oysters. I'm not a big fan of oysters but the one's here are of good quality. We each ordered a pound of mixed seafood. She ordered the shrimp and the frozen mussels, while I did the shrimp and fresh mussels. Then we had the seafood fried rice. Finally, we shared an order of lobster tail; they gave us two so we had one each. The seafood rice was superb; just the right amount of spice and full of flavour. My mixed seafood was also quite good. I was pleased with the shrimp. The mussels tasted fine although do take note that the fresh mussels tend to be smaller than the frozen ones. I had some mussels that were incredibly small, to the point where it didn't actually feel like I ordered a pound of seafood. I ordered the robot blend for my pound of seafood, which was stellar. Very good Southern boil flavours. I tried the coconut and curry sauce with the lobster tail and it tasted a little underwhelming. Another note: I ordered my seafood with the sauce while my friend ordered the sauce on the side. I would actually recommend ordering it on the side, especially if you have mussels, so you can get a good coating of sauce on the mussels themselves (as opposed to the shells). Overall, it was a good experience. If you're looking for a nice seafood boil place, this is a good place to start. This is close tot he Bloor-Yonge station so it's quite conveniently placed!

I was trying to eat a little healthier so I asked the waiter if it was possible to get the chow mein noodles simply boiled instead of also fried - if not that's totally okay I would simply get a different dish. There was a bit of a language barrier but he seemed to understand and said they could do it. The food took a very long time to come, well over half an hour. Unfortunately it seems like my request for the noodles wasn't interpreted correctly, as they came deep fried as normal. I know this is a risk that comes when ordering with a language barrier, but slightly unfortunate nonetheless. The chow mein was definitely heavy on the dark soy sauce and too salty for my preference. I did appreciate how generous they were with the meat and veggies though. My boyfriend got the cashew chicken and he enjoyed his dish. To note, none of the proteins come with rice and you have to order it on the side. Overall this restaurant is just okay, and doesn't really compare to the other great and affordable Chinese options in the city. However, in a pinch it works.
