I have been coming to star nails for a while. Its under new management. I guess from reading the comments, I needed Lisa as my tech because my experience was less than savory due to customer service. When I arrived, I spoke to everyone asked if there was availability for a walk in. I was told yes and to pick a color as a tech would be with me shortly. When the tech came over, I happily introduced myself. The tech (Jenny) did not respond and I thought it was me but another tech jumped in to happily respond. The whole time of my service, Jenny did not talk to me, texted on her phone and had displaced body language. She would only use hand gestures. I asked if her if everything was ok and she just stared at me. It was awkward that another tech came over mid service to complete my nails and Jenny walked away. While Jenny walked away a customer coughed and Jenny said "put on your mask you are sick". mind you I had my mask on the while time. When it came time to pay Jenny says (who now can speak) "dont forget the tip". read more

I was hesitant to try this place out due to some of the previous reviews, but I am glad I decided to give this place a try! My overall experience was positive. I rushed here after work and was half expecting to either be turned away or to wait for a very long time due to not booking an appointment in advance. I was tired from a long day, and was prepared to walk out and head home if the wait was too long. Somehow the timing was absolutely perfect and I was able to waltz right in and be pampered right away. =) Others came in behind me and had to wait a little longer due to them only having three technicians. Julie assisted me and she worked quickly and efficiently while not sacrificing any quality whatsoever. She worked hard on my nails and did a fabulous job! I opted for the regular gel manicure (27 dollars) and was in the salon for only about an hour, give or take, which was a pleasant surprise. I don't usually make appointments (because I'm so spur of the moment) and the few times I go to salons its on weekends only, so I'm accustomed to always having to wait. I am modifying my review as I had been a loyal customer with Julie for awhile and was overcharged for my last service. As my toes were drying, she came over and said to me, I rub your neck. She did that for maybe 10 minutes. As I'm leaving, she incorporates a $20 charge into my bill for said neck rub. She never told me in advance that she was charging me for that. I was planning on leaving her a $ 20 tip, I never would expect something for nothing. I was very disappointed with how I was treated. I also really dislike when the workers start speaking out loud in their language and laughing. Definitely feels like they're talking about you. Time for a new place. read more

NO NO NO NO NO! I asked for a GEL manicure and got some powdered dip crap. I sat there fuming because I didn't know what was happening and they didn't listen to me when I was asking questions. She just kept saying, "this will be so pretty." Not to mention there was NO manicure involved at all, no cuticle care, trimming, or pushing back of the cuticles. I specifically asked her to file, NOT cut them. She chopped them off, even though I normally don't wear my nails long, I do at least like them to reach the end of my finger. I also specifically asked for them to remain thin, and not thick with paint. I left livid. I am currently on my way to another nail shop to have them immediately soaked off. I feel like I can't go out in public with these BLOBS on the end of my fingers. I only give 1 star because I can't figure out how give zero! read more

I was there much longer than expected but I believe that is because they took their time to do a fabulous job. I also had a pedicure done by a different woman who was just as meticulous. I love my new nails and toes! 3/25/17 - went back for the 2nd time. Made the appointment yesterday to see Vy today. She did my nails last time and I loved them. She did both my Nexgen nails and my happy feet pedicure today. I am extremely pleased with both... Vy takes her time to do an amazing job and I could not be more pleased. I very rarely get my nails done but wanted to treat myself so I found this spot on Yelp. They have 6 chairs and it is a quiet little place. I've gone to some places where there is just too much going on. They have a good selection of OPI nail colors to choose from. I came in for a mani/pedi with French done on my hands for $40. They have a special for mon-fri before 1pm that mani and pedi is $30 or just pedi is $20. Overall, I was happy with how everything turned out. The ladies spend a lot of time on you. I was there for 2 hours! I highly recommend making an appointment, I did and many walk ins had to be rescheduled. Kim was very nice! read more

Well... I badly needed a mani/pedi and my main salon and nail tech was booked all week :( So since I was on another side of town .. I decided to look at reviews for salons in the area. Sea Star popped and I decided to pop in to try it out. I first asked for how much a gel manicure and pedicure would cost and they said 45$. Once I was being taken care of I was with a nice man but to be honest it was obvious he was still learning. He asked questions any time he did anything( which I understand ) but my mani and pedi took wayyy too long. Then the color I chose was difficult for him to work with and he literally did 5 layers of polish!!!! 5!!!!! the thickest gel manicure I have ever gotten.... but the most frustrating part was when I paid they charged me 50$ ... I asked why if they told me 45$ and she said " because we had to take off your old gel polish and we are the cheapest in the area"... I truly did not feel that was right but what can you do at that point? I paid and left. It's a good thing nail salons are a dime a dozen. I usually don't do reviews but for this salon I have too! I went here on a whim yesterday after seeing all the amazing reviews. I've been trying to grow my nails out and it's just not working lol. They keep breaking. So I went here having no idea what to expect. When you pull in it doesn't give you a wow affect. However when you walk in it does!! It was so peaceful and calm. I was greeted by Kim who remembered me by name because I called earlier. That alone was great and she continued to use my name and get to know me. I felt like she cared about me and my nails and I wasn't just a price tag. That's something I haven't felt in a long time! I've been getting my nails done and trying different places for the last 10 years. I'm definitely never going anywhere else! I asked about their next gen nails because I had never heard of them. Kim told me everything she knew and was willing to answer all my questions. I asked a lot but she never seemed annoyed. She did exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be more pleased with my nail. So if you're in the area and looking for a salon you have to try them out! Also, the next gen nails amazing! I hate gel because it usual peels off after a week. Next gen gives the look of a gel but the feel of acrylics without the harshness of acrylics. It's suppose to be a breathable healthier alternative, especially for someone who has weak nails that damage easy(me). I'm excited to see how much it helps. I tried this salon on a recommendation from a friend and I was curious about the next gen nails. When I entered the salon the greeting was less than warm, but I'm kinda used to that from those salons. The lady had me pick out a color. They have TONS of different colors to choose from which is great. The experience of the next gen application is pretty cool and I glad I tried it. I'm not sure I'll do it again only because I felt the whole thing was kinda rough on my nails/fingers. I don't know if it was the person who I had that was rough but I bled in a couple areas from her getting too close with the drill. I wasn't even expecting a drill! However, my nails do look nice. We will see how long they last compared to gel nails. The only other major thing I would say is this place needs a good cleaning. I went to wash/rinse my hands in the sink and I saw 3 live bugs (baby roaches?) in the sink. I know it's FL but yeah... So, some pluses and major minuses. Not sure if I'll go back or find another place that does next gen. read more

Love this place! My regular place was too busy one day so I came here. It is spacious, the technicians were very pleasant. If they couldn't understand, someone was right there to translate. It took much effort and the big tools but I left with feet that were silky smooth and happy! My next visit was a couple of months later. When I walked in I was called by name!
