We had a wonderful day at The Standard Spa Miami Beach. The property is beautiful, relaxing, and has such a unique atmosphere that makes you feel like you've escaped the city without ever leaving Miami Beach. We spent the afternoon by the pool, enjoying drinks and snacks, which were delicious and the perfect way to relax. Later, we headed to Happy Hour at Lido, and it was fantastic. The drinks were excellent, the food was great, and the waterfront setting made the experience even more special. The entire property has a laid-back luxury feel, with beautiful landscaping, comfortable seating areas, and amazing views. Old school Miami Hotel that appears to have been retro'd NYC style. Next to busy road, but bay view. The rooms have been thoughtfully re-designed, but still have that cold Miami cinder block feel. In other words you won't do more than sleep in them. The pool area is fantastic with a bay view and plenty of chairs. Lido Grill, the main restaurant, is nicely done and people / pet friendly. Service was good, once you got their attention, which was on you, not them...we had the lobster, fairly priced at $39, but was like rubber and inedible. Sides were a throw away. Drinks were very good. Other points, nice mini bar in room, however NO coffee in room and coffee shop doesn't open until 7 AM. A regular room, facing back away from bay, dinner for 2, minor mini bar invasion (2 drinks) valet, was over $1100. Not worth the cost. read more

I've been going to the standard for over 13 years, I work in media and often include the property in my recommendations and roundups. Today I attended a private brunch for work and I wanted to check two small bags at the front desk because I didn't want to take them into the brunch. I was told it would be five dollars for outside guests to check a bag. This is news to me. Never before have I been charged for this in the over 13 years that I've been going to this property. That isn't a luxurious experience nor is it up to standard, hotel guest or not. Service was polite outside of the charge. Food was average at best. A few hours later I attended another lunch at Bellini at the Mr. C hotel. I asked to check the same bags at their front desk. No charge. When I picked up my bags, they asked me how lunch was and if it was my first time at the property. Would I like some water to go (complimentary)? It was not my first time at Mr. C but this service is what I come to expect at a property of this nature. Not to be nickel and dimed for a basic service. This new experience paired with the fact that I was overcharged for drinks on my last visit to the standard (November) to which I called to rectify after realizing once I was home, I was told they would call me back and they never did. The Standard hotel has to be one of the best locations to spend a beautiful day in Miami. I've dined at the Lido before, but last weekend I was able to join some friends at the pool after treatments at the spa and let me tell you it is the definition of my perfect day. The location is beautiful - anywhere you sit you will see the open water views. I also love that when you're in the pool, it almost feels like you're in the ocean because that view is at eye level. We snagged some chairs on the deck and spent a solid 6 hours there. Our server, K, was incredible and made our celebrations - my friend's birthday - extra fun. For lunch, I ordered the burger and a ceviche. The burger definitely hit. I also loved that they can make most cocktails into pitchers, which is good if you're in a group. If your idea of a perfect day includes getting a massage followed by being oceanfront, with access to a pool, and the ability to lounge all day on a beach chair while ordering margaritas or rose - then this is the spot for you. While they do offer Valet parking, I recommend ubering as it is just easier. read more

Wooo hoo what a great getaway. Brought my team here for a half day of well deserved relaxation and fun. Chilled by the pool having spicy margs, we each had 90 min "hurt so good" massages then dinner & more drinks! The spot is a terrific oasis on the water. Spa review!! As a local, I have frequented the standard as a guest, for brunch and happy hour/dinner at Lido and have always loved the experience. For my birthday, I decided to make a day of it, purchasing a spa service. I got the standard massage and planned to enjoy the amenities and pool. Upon arrival, the front desk was distracted by another guest and the woman checking me in was distracted, responding to other guest while checking me in which wasn't the most welcoming. I also feel there could have been greater orientation upon checking in. I'm petite and received a huge robe that reached my feet with one broken loop but saw others walking around with a smaller sized one but maybe they were out at the time but just lack of attention to detail and service. There were no tissues, toilet paper in two bathrooms, or paper towels in rest room. As for the massage, the masseuse was knowledgeable and provided excellent feedback on issues I was having. She did great work in identifying issues but when focusing on other parts of body, I didn't feel there was much work being done but overall decent experience. After my massage, I was somehow locked out of my locker which happened to another guest shortly after. I went to front desk for help and was told they'd send someone right away.. 20 mins later, nothing so I picked up the phone and called, same thing "right away".. 15 minutes later, nothing so I went to front desk again asking if it was normal to wait 40 mins to get into my locker. The woman that checked me in immediately helped and stated she did not know there was anyone locked out so perhaps the other individual was training and that's why the service was off. I was annoyed to waste time with the locker issue but moving on- it was such a beautiful day, I didn't want to spend it inside. I felt the amenities besides the hammam were somewhat small and with it being coed and multiple groups having loud conversations, it was not that relaxing. The hammam area has ice baths in same area, and there are showers and the sauna. There is also a small lounge which had tea, no water and ice room down the hall. The only cooler I found for water was in the hammam. I wasn't that impressed by the amenities as I don't enjoy the ice room or baths so I ventured to the garden and pool. The gardens are so tranquil and beautiful. The pool has a breathtaking view and the pool is large and spacious with many seating options. I ordered a salad at the pool which was delicious. They have water coolers out to access but it was a task to flag someone to bring fresh ice water. I spent the day at the pool then headed over to Lido for 4-6 happy hour, ordering shrimp and guacamole. Shrimp were large and delicious.. guac not that flavorful. Afterwards, I headed to the hammam but same experience-- crowded and loud conversations. I could not imagine on a weekend when it's busier what the experience would be. Perhaps, I was looking for a relaxing tranquil day which I thought I'd have on a Monday but it seems this would be a good spa experience with a friend or as a group. Before leaving, I couldn't miss the sunset over the bay so I returned to the pool. Overall, the spa purchase is worth the service for access to the property as a weekday day pass is $100 anyways. However, if it wasn't for the property and pool, I doubt I'd return to the spa. Parking is also very expensive ($45 for first 5 hours then $5/hr.. $60 total) with limited options for parking elsewhere. I would highly recommend the experience although I feel there is definitely room for improvement at the spa! read more

Rooms are basic and service is hit-or-miss, but the pool and restaurant areas are charming--if you make the most of them. The real standout is the spa: the experience and staff were exceptional, warm, and welcoming. Highly recommend taking full advantage of it. Note: The French attendant (50ish) at the pool entrance came off overly controlling and a bit ego-driven, which detracted from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. I pity the guy - not sure exactly what trauma he's dealing with . No late checkout available because they were "sold out" on a Monday. So fun being on the water with massive yachts dropping by to party with us. Excellent poolside / waterfront restaurant and bar. I had the poke bowl and it was divine. Best of all was every single staff member was outrageously fun, friendly, helpful and amazing!!!! But it was raining and I didn't wanna deal with driving around so I paid what I paid.... The minute you walk in the lobby you are transformed to another realm...the place itself is gorg! And once there, you totally forgot about the outside world! It felt like a total suspension of my outside life, all the worries, stress, negative energy just stays behind the door! I am not kidding! The energy there is fabulous! Heavenly! Healing! There are different rooms: an amazing big sauna, a very cold room burrrrrrr, a steam room, plenty of showers, a big common area with bath tubs all around in a big communal circle! The locker rooms have a very soothing hue of blue, very pleasing to my eyes...there are attendants that are willing to help you...I met a really special one from Ethiopia! I got lost Mira times than I can count and she was there to help like an angel...thank you for helping me! : D There's also a magic lounge with a view that looks out to the ocean! That view is everything! I must've spent a half hour just staring out that window sipping on the complimentary iced tea! The iced tea tasted like hibiscus and the whole room smelled so good! The Standard Spa Hotel is located in the Belle Isle area, an easy walk from Sunset Harbour. I've stayed here a few times, and I love what they have done with the addition of the speakeasy and cafe (both located right of the front desk). It's definitely known for the grounds, as it gives a beachy/retro/fun vibe with various garden areas. Room (2/5): The beds are not that comfortable, and the rooms are relatively small (even the largest ones they offer with the bathtub on the terrace +/- hot tub). The bathroom is fun but small, as there is a large mirror wall inside the shower. There is a mini-fridge stocked with refreshments and with snacks above the mini-fridge. Other than this, I thought the rooms could be much better. The walls are rather thin, and you can hear everything. Recently, the occupants next to us were partying until 5 AM, and the dog was vocal here and there. Another negative is the lack of electric wall plugs in the room. It's the real downside of this hotel in my opinion. Hamam (5/5): Must-visit, whether staying or only doing the spa service. There is a main hamam room with 4 bathtubs. To the right, there is a rinse room and steam room. To the left, there is a sound shower room and sauna room. Outside the hamam, there is an ice room and meditation/sound room that overlooks into the ocean. Spa (3/5): I've had facials and massages here. It's rather a hit-or-miss situation with them. Honestly, I would try other spa places before coming here because you are spending a similar price compared to places with 5-star services. There are no cool refreshments or snacks. They do not really guide you around to take you from one place to the next. Pool (4/5): It gets quite full during the weekends. You must come early to get a spot by the pool. The cold water immersion is quite popular, as it activates the body's natural healing powers. You can order some food items from the Lido Bayside Grill, which I am not the biggest fan of (because the cafe is tastier). The views from the pool/Lido Bayside Grill is phenomenal, especially with the views of downtown and Sunset Harbour marina. It's also great to check-out in the evening, especially when on a date. Speakeasy (5/5): It probably fits about 12-14 people. The bartenders are very personable, and the drinks are delicious. It's definitely a great place to start before you leave or a great place to end the night. Cafe (5/5): I love to sit in the corner back table to have a view of everything and people-watch. I highly recommend getting the Vegan Bahn-Mi because it's delicious! It's rather a bit more of the bread side, but it's tasty. My friend also loved the vegan avocado toast with a side of hot sauce. I've tried 3 of the smoothies there, and they were all good. Would I come back? I would only for the experience. If you want a comfortable sleep, then definitely go somewhere else. read more

I will start off by saying that I am a true spa snob, and my expectations bar is pretty high. I haven't been to The Standard Spa since before COVID, and not sure I'd be back any time soon given my experience yesterday. Please note this review for the spa only, not Hotel or Lido (separate reviews). Here is a summary of pluses and minuses: Pluses: - easy and efficient booking process - quick checkout - professional front desk staff - beautiful Hamam Minuses: - my "hurts so good" massage was not a deep tissue at all despite me asking to add pressure and depth. The therapist began massage with my feet (? Never had one in that sequence and spent very little time on the areas that matter) - the treatment room was cold and full of light, hard to relax - there were loud conversations in the hallway which were distracting - there were NO spa amenities like hot tea or lemon water, I mean nothing, no water at all 60 minute massage cost me $273 including 20% tip which was automatically included. I pay the same or even less at the Edition Hotel Spa and the Setai Valmont but much much better value at both. You get to relax in a beautiful setting before and after, they serve you different teas, snacks and even sparkling (all in!), etc. the standard spa felt like a common bathroom in a dorm room. I wish I could say "you get what you pay for" but in this case, I get better experience at my local Massage Envy. read more

My husband and I have long been fond of The Standard--it's a place that holds sentimental value for us, as it's where we first met. However, I'm reaching out to share feedback about an experience we had this past weekend at Lido Bayside Grill, which left us feeling deeply disappointed. We visited to celebrate my sister's birthday (who was staying at the hotel for a week), a special occasion as she had flown in from California and hadn't seen my two young sons in over a year. Before our visit, we called to confirm that children were welcome and were assured they would be. However, what we encountered during our visit was far from the warm, inclusive environment we expected. While dining, we noticed that the quality of food and drinks was not up to the standards we remembered--specifically, the mojitos we had once enjoyed so much were lacking. After our meal, my children, aged 3 and 5, began to explore a little, as young children often do when they get restless. We then moved to sit on the rocking chairs to enjoy a moment together by the bay. It was at this point things took an unfortunate turn. A staff member approached us, asking us to leave because of the children. This interaction felt unnecessarily targeted, particularly as there were other guests seated nearby who were not addressed with children. Over the span of 10 minutes, we were asked to leave repeatedly, even as we tried to gather our belongings. My father, who had not seen my sister in a long time, simply wanted to take a quick picture before we departed but was prevented from doing so. The tone and demeanor of the staff were shockingly rude and dismissive, with one individual even laughing when I mentioned I would provide feedback about our experience. This experience left us feeling unwelcome and undervalued as patrons, especially as parents. While I understand that certain spaces aim to maintain a serene atmosphere, I believe there are more respectful and understanding ways to communicate policies or preferences. Families with children should not feel ostracized or ridiculed, particularly after dining at your establishment. I felt it important to share this feedback, not only to highlight the disappointing treatment we received but also in the hope that it may lead to more thoughtful customer service in the future. The Standard holds a special place in our hearts, and it pains me to say that this experience has tainted our perception of it. Thank you for taking the time to listen, and I hope to see improvements that align with the inclusive and welcoming spirit we once cherished at The Standard. One of my favorite places in Miami! I've stayed many times, before renovations and after. Recently, I went to the spa and booked a massage which was life-changing! We then ended up staying for the day and enjoying the Hamman and the outdoor pool area, if you spend $225 or more in the spa then you get a day pass (weekends and holidays). The Standard Miami is probably best known for its iconic pool and Lido but I am HUGE fan of their less well known coffee shop . It is my little zen space where I can pitch up with my laptop and quietly get into the zone to make ship happen. It is tucked away at the front of the hotel and is just a fab spot to get some work done, meet some friends or have business meetings in the air con and grab a bit to eat. (The Banana bread and Açai bowl with protein are my go to's in the morning.... or try the breakfast bowl with chicken on top !) The space is beautifully designed with multiple power points on the tables along the back wall if you need to plug in your device / laptop. The service team are superb and dare I say the best team of all the staff at The Standard Miami... well I have said it now and I really mean it. They truly stand out from the crowd. We are no strangers when it comes to The Standard hotels (have loved all the ones we have been to!) and will be the first to say that the Miami one is definitely one of the top contenders. The Grounds are amazing. It gives off almost a beach/retro vibe that is just so unique. The views from the bar/restaurant overlook the ocean and they are incredible. There are little pockets of garden areas that you can relax/hang out in - Personal favorite was the garden with hammocks. Room reservations - I HIGHLY recommend a first floor room with the bathtub on the terrace. As I say that, keep in mind I would never recommend a first floor room. When I first found out we were first floor I was tempted to pull a "Karen" and ask to move but I went with the flow and I'm glad I did. It was the most perfect location. We had a short walking distance to the bar (and as an Irish couple this is important!) but also secluded enough that we were able to relax in the room and have enough privacy with the tub on the terrace. The only cons I have (which clearly since I rated this 5 stars were not a big deal) were 1) the speakeasy closed earlier then they advertised (which was fine bc we ended up getting wine at the bar outside which was perfect with the views) 2) the chairs at the restaurant were very uncomfortable and a little awkward 3) the curtains around the terrace of the room could have been better designed to shield any flashings of getting into the bath tub :-) but again this is the Standard! Highly recommend getting a Hot 'n Hazy while relaxing by the pool! read more

Always a fun time here. It's been a while since I've returned. I don't recall valet being such a painful experience. I know miami traffic is bad, but wow tonight the standards valet line was very sub standard. Cost about $22 without gratuity. I wasn't aware of any nearby self parking options. Outside of that, it's a clean lobby, friendly staff and they have a ping pong table in the lobby, albeit it's a bit warped from maybe the humidity. read more

I'm a bit torn by The Standard. By Miami standards this my be a good hotel. By international standards The Standard is only average. My 4 stars here are generous. The outdoor space is very nice. The lobby area is average and the seating for aesthetics over comfort. The waterside restaurant nice with good food choices but significantly overpriced. The rooms are minimalist, not comfortable, and designed so you spend your time somewhere else. The spa to is a bit of an anomaly. Good selection of spa services. Nice coed area, sauna, steam room. No jacuzzi. Robes and slippers not available in the locker room, although they will give you them when you check in, but will charge you $30 if you leave them with other used towels. Strange when you are used to truly worldclass spas. And then there are the guests who think their poorly trained and ill behave dogs are sweet little pets. Although the bark, bite, and are generally out of control. Get a clue. No one but you likes your idiotic pet, or you as their pet owner. Train them better or leave them at home. Unfortunately the hotel staff neither says or does anything about Cujo. I think next visit will bypass The Standard. read more

The Standard used to be a favorite, but no longer. I'm not a spa person, so this review has nothing to do with the spa, which most people seem to love. The rooms aren't great, but the food and pool area used to be so fantastic that it didn't matter. The food quality has certainly changed for the worse. It's not terrible, but it's not what it once was. The pool area is now a disaster. It's full of people using one day resort passes, and it's changed the overall feel from a relaxing oasis to a 20-something drunken pool party with obnoxious house music playing 16 hours every day. There are so many people around the pool that it's difficult to even move around, and the servers can't keep up. The business model seems to have changed from offering an excellent experience for guests to making quick cash from day passes. We probably won't bother going back. It's simply not worth it anymore and better options exist. read more

What a shame. I've been to The Standard many times over the past 15 years. The hotel layout is idyllic, the pool area is lovely, the lobby smells very nice, but there are two departments that are problematic: the parking situation and the restaurant. There is no neighborhood parking; the hotel is on 17th Street, and only residents may park anywhere near it. You will certainly receive at least a very expensive ticket, and likely be towed. So you must valet your car. That will set you back $35, plus $3.50 for a "convenience fee," plus a tip that defaults at 20% (I customized to $$2.00). So to park my car, it cost $40.50, plus tax. That was for lunch. The restaurant is outdoors, directly on the Bay. On a nice day, it is a spectacular experience. The breeze, the sun beating down, good-looking out-of-towners, cute dogs, locals and very competent servers are all pluses. But all is not well. The menu, which has undergone many a reiteration, is an odd collection of not surprisingly expensive choices. But this is Miami and the atmosphere makes it worth it. The food arrives, and it is not hot and is fairly tasteless. The bill has got convenience charges, automatic tip, and $24 for a grapefruit juice and vodka. Once again, this is Miami. I live here. The lunch cost me ~$100. I paid ~$100 for a nice view, which, I suppose, is reasonable on a certain level. But I really resent when any business--certainly including a restaurant--takes advantage of its long-time customers (not one-off tourists)--by ripping them off from the moment they arrive (parking) because they have no other choice. I think it's very bad, short-sighted business, because I will think long and hard about returning anytime soon, and I was motivated to write this screed, instead of waxing poetically about the Standard's view. This review is not about the money; I can afford this place easily. It's about a business that blithely believes it can take me for a sucker. Standard: you pulled off a short con; there's lots more dough in the long con. read more

In short, this hotel is NOT known as a hotel, rather a spa with rooms to stay. I had the pleasure of a walkabout. It is understated, exclusive, and not stuffy in the least. I took some photographs, however I was told off, as photos are technically not allowed. Huh? this is Miami whereby everyone takes photos, loves taking photos, begs for photos, wants to be photographed, blah, blah! You get the drift. When I enquired as to why? They said there are topless sunbathers around the pool, so it is forbidden. I have a Miami model friend who is a member here and she informed and educated me this is a boutique place, not to be bothered, and to be exclusive, and she informs me this is where the celebs come to get fit and spa! The Standard hotel, called The Standard Spa, Miami Beach, spans 2.3 acres on Belle Isle. The property was developed in 1953 as the Monterrey Motel and Yacht Club, designed by architect Norman Giller, according to the Miami Design Preservation League. It reopened as the Lido Spa in 1960. HERE IS SOME INFO ABOUT THE BELLE ISLE ASWELL, SEE BELOW. Belle Isle is the easternmost island of the Venetian Islands, which are a chain of manmade islands in Biscayne Bay. Originally called 'Bull Isle', and later renamed (thankfully), Belle Isle is a bit more unique than it's artificial sister islands as it's not completely manmade. Belle Isle was originally a rough mangrove hammock island. Before fruit farmer John S. Collins partnered with the wealthy investor Carl G. Fisher to build the Collins Bridge in 1913, the new luxury properties under development in Miami Beach and Collins' large avocado orchards were inaccessible except by ferry boat. When Collins dug the Collins Canal, work crews deposited dredged sand around the rough island at the mouth of the canal, increasing its land mass and defining its shape. The island (now cleared of mangroves) and platted into small parcels of land for single-family homes, extended into Biscayne Bay and allowed Collins and Fisher to build a relatively short wooden bridge across the bay by running the road over Belle Isle. Belle Isle then became home to many wealthy and fashionable millionaires. During the Florida Land Boom in the 1920's, the isle was the site of Biscayne Bay Speedboat Regattas which brought in more wealth and sophistication to the area. With tons of news coverage, postcards, and mansions, it's clear that Belle Isle was basically the Star Island of the early 1900's. read more

One of my favourite places in Miami! What a stunning spot!!! Beautiful deck , surrounded by the ocean, great swimming pool (bar service), boats passing by and the best think for me: have a drink appreciating the sunset. Cool ambience, nice music, good food and lovely drinks ( my all the time love is FROZE). I don't know if they are still having Bingos but I used to go every last Sunday of every month! It was super funny. Lovely staff. * They reopened their cafe (which is super charming). Great to meet friends or have a meeting. * valet parking available (30$) * I recommend to book your table in advance cause it's always crowded. read more

Love this spa, great amenities and staff. Located on Biscayne Bay island with good views and High end services. Love the pool layout as well, spent a real nice time relaxing by the pool, and ordered some food. GET: peanut butter burger ( quality beef and cooked perfect, the peanut butter gives it an extra touch!!!! The empanadas were also really good, ( meat and good dipping sauce ). The ceviche with tostones was unfortunately just subpar, ( didn't care for it much ). Overall great experience relaxing the day away in the pool with good drinks and a great atmosphere. read more

Before anything else I'm going to say this for the amount of money you would spend here go spend it at the setai or the national anywhere else but here. Also the only reason I'm leaving two stars is because my massage therapist actually knew what he was doing. So let me start by saying I'm not one to really make a big deal over human errors but this place was freaking funny. Tell me how I walked in mind you 1. I had a a family emergency and asked if I could reschedule told them I could bring something from the hospital to verify and was still denied Cool that one was on me. 2. At the spa when I arrived they couldn't find my reservation cause they wrote down my name wrong All along while telling me I should have an email confirmation and someone should have followed up with me to confirm everything I was about to pay for. So let me get this right you guys couldn't spell my legal name correctly IT IS FOUR LETTERS J A D E but you managed to get my card information on file and everything there was correct After I proceeded to tell them my name three times when they called for my name to do my massage they called me jace. You're doing great guys. They renovated the spa supposedly and let me tell you it was done completely wrong who ever is in charge of management here seriously needs to take a look at how this place is being run. 3. I never received a follow up call or an email confirmation about my spa appointment so I basically was told on the phone that I could do the massage with my significant other and again was promised false information. So for the amount of money I spent which mine you the massage for two is already cashing out at 800 not only did I pay someone to not even remember my name The restaurant is mediocre at most with the fish being too salty and the bar being backed up. All in all If I could leave negative fifty freaking stars I would next time I book with a place I'll make sure to ask them after they've gotten my card number to make sure they got my first name that goes along with it. Definitely never recommending this place to anyone more coming back here again. read more

I used the spa for a pedicure and manicure and along with the purchase of such, you are able to use the pool and amenities on the property premise. So relaxing, felt like a vacation only a few minutes from my home. The spa was amazing and the ladies there do such a great job. Will definitely be returning. read more

Valet pricing is absolutely ridiculous here. $35+$3 convenience fee. Even if you are just coming to eat here they offer no discount & take advantage of the fact that there is no where else to park in the area so they price gauge. Taking advantage of customers that are trying to spend $ at your business is asinine. I won't be back strictly bc of their ridiculous valet fees. I can think of many other water front restaurants I can dine at and not be charged $38 to park. read more
