This is my first negative review on Yelp. Scott Cunningham of Sea Worthy Canvas made a canvas dodger for my sailboat in March 2020. It took twice as long as promised and the dodger was badly made. He has not responded to my repeated requests to correct the deficiencies. I enclose photographs of the dodger. It is unfortunate that I must use this public forum to request either a full refund or that the dodger be fixed or remade.

Aft drop is a huge piece and it looks fantastic. Even has snap backs for easy access and a bag for storage.

Scotty is a real professional who is relentless in his pursuit of perfection. He absolutely nailed my project and I'd gladly work with him again. My boat's aging canvas was in dire need of replacing. Scotty's creativity and eye for detail took a routine canvas replacement job to another level. He was never satisfied with "good enough" and constantly looked for areas for improvement in both use and appearance. Scotty sweats the small stuff and it paid off for us with a final product that is truly custom, tailored perfectly to the boat, and built to last. I was expecting a replacement but received something that I'm really proud of with details like covers for portholes that I didn't even know that I needed and that were included without additional cost. Scotty is without equal and matches incredible skill with genuine care to create very special products. Scotty is also just a great guy who was a pleasure to do business with. The incredible kindness he showed to my entire family and the way that he made them feel part of the process was a welcome surprise and will not soon be forgotten. Boats and boat owners are a difficult bunch. Scotty has what it takes not just to get the job done, but to get it done right. Highly recommend!

We had 2 serviceable deck chairs which needed new outdoor upholstery. Sea Worthy Canvas is located down the street from us, so I stopped by and talked over this small job with Scott Cunningham. I looked at fabric samples, and he told me he could do it in a week. Scott did a great job, and even delivered the chairs to our door ! Thank You Scott.

Scotty was was awesome! I hired Seaworthy to make a new sail cover for my 37' Hunter. I called four different canvas places and got a few quotes, but Scotty was the only one who took the time to come see my project before providing the quote. I could tell that Scotty really cared about what he was doing and had a sense that he would do a really standup job, which he did. I could tell he put a lot of time into making . in quality. The final product turned out great and exceeded my expectations. Thanks!

Anyway, after going to three shops I landed at AAUG. I got the initial estimate (after they also checked with the dealer for the cover price, which were very expensive and one was back-ordered - so we went with custom), slept on it and decided to go for it. I brought my car back so we could choose the fabric - we got VERY close to the original, not identical. They were SOO stinking nice, they both felt like old friends. I brought my car in first thing on a Friday morning and picked it up Saturday afternoon. It looks absolutely FANTASTIC! I still don't know how he did it in a day! They were also able to fix my rear seat that was partly coming undone. Exceptional work! HIGHLY recommend!

Last of the true professionals. It's a skill and a trade he is an artist in his own right. Once the glass arrived, I took the car to him at 12:00 noon. It was done by 2:00pm. I expected the car to be there for at least 24 hours. Would have been a bad day commuting to SF and back to Berkeley during rush hour if I had to come back the next day. Joe is "d" man.

On the blue section, and there was some over-spray and it has a yellowish green tint. It took him a few quick minutes to mix some dye and he didn't really spot check for match. I asked if he could match it better but he said it could make it worse. There was also over-spray. Frankie just blocks off the untouched spot by holding a piece of cardboard. It wasn't precision and care. Also, deep scratches could be sanded, smoothed and polished to match, but he doesn't go to this level of service. He just applies putty over it and lets you know it will leave a lump. However, the match on black was very good, almost perfect. But it felt rough due to the over-spray. Overall, I had expected a more precise hand polishing process and care for matching, but it was just quick spray paint. Deep scratches really didn't get resolved. The car is now a collectors item. I was hoping for a level of quality that matches the prestige. EDIT In response to the owner; I do not use Yelp much and do not write many reviews. But they are bad experiences that are memorable enough to share and I provided evidence (invoices and pictures) to support it. The owner's lack of accountability in his response should be a concern. I've had someone asking about his work the past few weeks (2025: 9 years later) and it prompted me to help this person and update the review and even tone it down a tad for the owner's benefit. 1 and 2. The pictures uploaded appear the same quality as the original but resized. Don't believe otherwise as the owner leads you to believe. Many of you have uploaded pictures and know this is is a lie. I believe Yelp will also dispute the owner on the quality of their site. 3. As for repairing scratches, I had no issues and mearly shared the level of service ($350 - in 2016 dollars) for the community, but the owner has a problem with me sharing it. 4. The car was just as pristine in 2016 as today 2025, 1,500 miles later. I have the invoices on the work, dated before Frankie's job. In fact, I should probably write a review on it since the owner seems to have a problem with me not writing good reviews, especially if it is redundant to many other good reviews. 5. The owner is lying about the date of the job and timing of my review. The job was done on 2/6/2016. My review was dated 5/7/2016. I moved away from the area June 2016 and was very busy with preparing for the move and finishing up my life there. 6. The owner claimed he could make it right, but as he mentioned during the job, he did not want to fix the mismatch. I had no reason to contact him further. I moved to a different area a few months later and had more important concerns than the owner's job and was fine with just writing a review. The owner needs to own it.
