Each item in their work orders is either a fixed price or an accurate, reasonable estimate that they usually come in under. If additional work is needed they ask for a change order. Jaime keeps me in the loop as they work through issues. I can get at the boat 24/7 if necessary while it's in the yard. I used to get a bottle of wine along with my bill from KKMI, and it was the most expensive wine I ever got. Bay Marine has good communication, prices no higher than they have to be, and an always filled candy dish in the office. Good enough for me.

I finally got through to one person who made an appointment to show up at my boat at 10:30 am on a Friday. I called the day before to confirm my appointment. The person I talked to, who I believe was the owner, said he didn't see my appointment on the calendar, but he said he would call back in 5 minutes to confirm either way. The called never came. I called again, at 9:30am, the day of the appointment and got no answer. Shortly thereafter I received a text telling me that they were running over at a job in Alameda. He said he would call me back.... as expected that call never happened either. I never heard from anyone from Protector again. If you value your time and expect any degree of customer service don't call these guys

I now have what I need and know who I can count on for future service/purchases. Four stars only because he doesn't take credit cards and doesn't have an office (yet!) as he is still in the process of settling into his new location. His emails changed at every turn, he even went against his prior advice in past emails ? Of course this was after the sale and now I have a motor sitting unused in my garage. I recently had my Moore 24 at Gilles' shop to have a few repairs and modifications done. Gilles…read morewas a pleasure to work with and his fiberglass guy Denise is a wizard. #1 Toe rails. They look great. The contour fits the boat and is high enough to provide good traction without being imposing. Beautiful execution and design. #2 Misc repairs. Denise did an incredible job repairing an old inspection port and compass hole that needed filling. I couldn't even see the transition in paint until he pointed it out to me. #3 Barney post. Gilles and Denise designed a custom barney post to replace the thwart where the main is currently attached. This opens up the cockpit and makes it much easier to move around in the boat. Wow. Great design and a total beast construction wise. While it is still pretty light to pick up I am convinced I will probably be able to lift the boat by the barney post. It is made from an old carbon/kevlar spinnaker pole section and a number of custom bits. Very very nice. #4 Various soft padeyes and delrin inserts. I've used these all over my boat to install hardware (turning blocks, twings, etc...). Replacing so much stainless junk on my boat with these bits from Gilles is a big part of how I pulled 115# off a 2000# boat. Highly recommended. These guys are the best. Oh yeah, every single project has come in on time and on or under budget.

Andy was communicative about projects, updated us frequently and was quickly available if we had any questions. His crew did excellent work on our ark including welding, sanding, painting and other necessary repairs. They transported and hauled the boat with no issues and returned it to the slip safely.
